Ñ CRAFT:BLACK LEGEND ------------------ ¦ Well whats this then AMOSers? Yet another extension to AMOS, but let me point out that this is a very good extension. What does craft stand for then? Well it stands for Command, Requesters, Audio, Fractals, Turtles. I think that basically sums up what CRAFT is about. Whats that i hear? You want some more details about CRAFT. Ok then. I for got to mention how good this extension is. Craft adds well over 160 new instructions to both AMOS and AMOS Pro. You want Julia or Mandelbort fractual graphics? You got it! Bloody quick as well may i point out. Almost as quick as assembler. You want requesters quickly and professionally? You have got that too! Simply use a command called "SYS REQUEST" and with various perimeters you can have them all over the shop. Easy listening with the Audio instructions. You can play both SAMPLES and MUSIC with the CRAFT music system. Previously that was not possible with AMOS but CRAFT manages it. Want a Soundtracker module to load? Simply use "ST Load file$,bank number" and bobs your uncle. Also as i said you can have samples as well in your programs. This is very good for games programmes i think. A definite plus there i think. § Fractals! What are they? Where did they come from. To put it simple, it's a mathematical creature which has got an infinite amount of details. Fractals can be used for example to model trees, bushes etc. Why? They have near the origin of a geometrical system of coordinates which are easy to produce but as we have mentioned require lots of maths. All this maths takes up time. You can do fractals in AMOS but they are very sllooowwww! Thats where CRAFT comes in. If you have had to wait about 25 seconds for a picture to be drawn in AMOS using fractals then count the seconds it takes to draw the same fractual in CRAFT. It could take 2, 3, 5 seconds to do. Now thats FAST!! What are "Turtle" graphics? If anybody remembers a programming language called LOGO from a few years ago then they should know about turtles. When you use the turtle graphics, you control an invisible turtle. You can move it forward and backwards, and turn it clock-wise and anti-clockwise. This is the main point where turtle graphics differ from normal graphics. Remember with a turtle, it always points somewhere and always moves away or towards that direction. commands such as: Tr Forward d -where "d" is a number of pixles forward) ...moves the turtle forward by "d". Similarly: Tr Back d -will go back by "d" ° You see its a very simple operation of drawing graphics. Don't expect to draw 256 colour AGA graphics though. Get DPAINT 4 AGA or something. You can use CRAFT on any AMOS program such as AMOS 1.3x, AMOS Pro, AMOS PRO 1.11 etc. The install program doesn't take to long and it is straight forward. Simply select the required AMOS you have and away you go. What could be easier? Basically CRAFT can make your program operations quicker and give you more flexibility when using AMOS. I would heartily recommend CRAFT to the AMOS user. WAC VERDICT:89%
