FADEONE INTERVIEW çddf,faa,afa,aaf,faf,ffa,aff ¢ INTERVIEW WITH FADEONE/MASQUE ³ by Limbo/Razor 1911 ½L: Limbo/Razor 1911 ¾F: Fadeone/Masque ½L: Hello Fadeone and thanks for giving us this interview. Now at first tell me a litle about yourself (Name, age, equipment and what you do in Masque)... ¾F: My real name is Martin, I am born on the 30.1.74(now guess how old I am. I just gave you my birthday, that you know when to send me the presents..hehe) and run my dpaint on an amiga 2000 with kick 1.3(two drives of coz..) and my job is to make wayne mendoza`s(and of other coders) ugly routines nice, by combining them with my graphics... ½L: Please tell us about your scene career and how it all started and witch groups you have been in. ¾F: Many years ago(around 1987 or so) I bought myself a computer and played for a couple of years some games. then I started painting(I already painted for quite some times on paper) with dpaint. When I saw that my gfx could compete with many other artists and fortunately I got somehow in contact with a guy from Black Monks(hey Anvil, this is you!) I ¶¾joined them in June 92. After I realized that they didn`t care for anything I wrote to a couple of other graphicians and then I got into contact with Peachy of Tristar & Red Sector. After exchanging some lines and graphics, I joined TRSI in november 92. In january 93 we(Wayne,Xray,Pg...) build Masque and that`s where I a still am. ½L: How did you get your handle? And wich handles do like more except your own? ¾F: I got this handle since I started with grafitti(It`s called `tag` instead of handle) and I actually killed too many of my brain cells with beer, so I don`t remember why I choosed it. about other handles...mmmh..hard question, but definetly UNO is great(maybe because he`s cool, too...hehe) I also like Majic Mushroom/lemon. and many others, but this has nothing to do with the talent. ½L: So now you're in Masque. How did it all start with Masque and what made you leave TrsI and have a own group? ¾F: mmmh..There are some reasons(and many misunderstandings(??)). But after hearing that TRSI legal should pay money to the illegal guys for buying originals and telling us that we had to pay for calling cards we ¶¾decided to go our own way. We stayed in TRSI under the name Masque but with no connection to the illegal part of TRSI. The trouble between MCloud, Flynn of TRSI and us continued and so we left TRSI.(Hello Eurocharts!!! Pg is a Masque member and so is Romeo etc...) ½L: Masque is surly among the best groups in the scene. So what is the current member list? And who thought of the name Masque? (Names and what they do) ¾F: Masque members are: Wayne Mendoza(coder), Xray(utilities, coder), Dreamer(coder), 16 beat(musax, coder), Romeo Knight(music), Radar(music), Peachy(graphics and NO music(please..hehe..)) and FadeOne (graphics) actually our name would be epilog but Pg didn`t like it and so Romeo Knight decided that we are Masque.(But who cares about a name...) just wanted to say, that it is quite surprising to me that so many people don`t know us, but this will change with our mega-trackmo coming out soon... ½L: As there now is AGA on the new amigas that gives a graphician much more colors and the pictures can get higher quality and so on. Are you planning to go over and start using AGA? ¶¾F: If I gonna buy a 1200 or 4000 I certainly will pixel in aga. If you want to ask if it will get harder to see if something is scanned or not I want to say that most of the best graphicians never copy a picture like a scanner. They just but parts of different pictures together, combine it with own ideas, give their style to the picture and often change many things, they dislike about the pictures they are copying from. On the other side I don`t think that the quality will increase very much, because most pictures are already as detailed as real pictures... ½L: Now to the question that every graphician gets. Who are your favourite graphicians? And is there any graphician that have given you any special insperation? ¾F: Every other good graphician gives me inspiration and they are always pushing me, to make my next picture/logo/font better than theirs. My personal favorite is ofcoz HOF. he got the best style, best technique, best pictures, best logos, best grafittis, best everything, he`s perfect! Other people I like are Mack, Cougar, Ra and Danny. but this changes with every new logo/picture I get from the artists. One graphician I admire very much(but has unfortunately nothing to do with the scene..) is Dan Malone of the Bitmap Brothers. His graphics are perfect in ¶¾any way. Too bad he is not involved in the scene. ½L: How long does it usually take you to draw a fullscreen picture if you don't have any special deadline to make? ¾F: Normally, I need 1-2 weeks, but I never paint more than one hour per day, because I really can`t concentrate any longer. ½L: What hobbies do you have beside the scene? And what music do you listen on? ¾F: If you consider school as a hobby( I don`t!!!), then I study sports at the university... I play quite professional Ice-hockey(which really restrictes my time for the computer), I like to party like every other young man(except chaos/sanity...) and I love to paint on paper and other surfaces. my music taste has a wide range, but right now I enjoy espacially trance/techno, funk, good hiphop...(actually everything that sounds good..hehe...) ½L: If I say Sweden, what scene guys do you first come to think of and why just those guy's? ¾F: mmmh...Uno/Scx, because I tried to write to him and I had to write Sweden on It, than Phenomena(Tip&Mtx, ¶¾Azatoth..) because they had a swedish banner in their demo, and Limbo(gee, that`s you)/Razor 1911, because you are living in Sweden, too. I must say, that I don`t pay any attention to countrys anyway... ½L: What do you think of the scene nowdays? ¾F: It`s fun to know guys all around the world, It`s fun to talk to each other, It`s PURE fun at all! and because I know the scene only for a bit more than one year, I can`t really say If It Is getting better or worse...but time will tell. ½L: This questinon Is very obvious. So wich Is your favourite mag? Why? ¾F: R.A.W., because it`s just a pure scene mag, with very Intresting articles(I really don`t care about jokes, short stories etc..if I would I would read books),Eternal, because of the nice outfit and that`s It.
