The Wordsearch Creator v1.0

   This program enables you to create wordsearches and save them to disk
allowing you to use them in any wordprocessor package.

   Upon loading there are two windows (the project and words windows). Each
window has separate menus - the words menu deals with editing the words to
put into the wordsearch and the project menu deals with (on the whole) the
word square. To swap between each window simply click on the window area.
The cursor shows which window is currently selected. To move any of the
windows, hold down the left mouse button over the window and "drag" it.

   The words window acts like a simple text editor - using the cursor keys
scrolls up and down, and shift and up or down causes the cursor to go either
to the top of the words or the bottom. Shift and any letter key (eg shift and
"s") will select the current word and turn it green (or if it is already
selected, turn it white). Up to 99 words can be entered but this is generally
impratical since the maximum length and height of the "square" is 36 and 23
respectively.

THE WORDS MENU:

Load:    Loads a previously saved set of words or adds a saved set to the
	 current list.

Save:    Saves a set of words currently in the words window or saves the
	 selected words in the words window.

Print:   Prints the whole set of words.

New:     Erase all the words in the window.

MISC.

Sort alphabetically:    Sort all words alphabetically

Swap 2 words:           Swaps the positions of two selected words.

Delete selected words:  Self explanatory (hopefully!).

Hide windows:           Hide project and words windows until left mouse
button is pressed.

Move/Resize:            Toggle between moving the words window or resizing
it.

Help:                   Reminder of keys to use in editing words in the words
			window.



THE PROJECT MENU:

New:     Creates a new wordsearch, taking into consideration the length and
height values plus whether "Manual" or "Generated" is highlighted in the
menu.

Save:    Save square in ASCII format.

Print:   Print square (only the square, not the words).

Quit:    Exit to Workbench/CLI.


MISC.

Hide windows:        As in words menu.

Resize/move:         As in words menu.

Fill blanks:         Fill the "."'s with random letters.

Change size:         Changes the dimensions of the square.

Generated/Manual:    Toggles between method of creation. (See later)



METHOD OF CREATION:

Generated:

If "Generated" shows up in the "Misc." menu while in the project window then
this means the computer will generate a word square automatically. It will
place the words at random positions and in random directions.

      The length of time in which the square is created depends on the
dimensions and the number of words. If you have too many words and not
enough places in the square, the computer will continue to try and find
places until you press the left mouse button to abort the creation.


Manual:

If the generated square is too simple to solve, you can place the words in
the square yourself. This is done by selecting any word in the words window
(it's best to start off with the longer words so that you can fit the
shorter ones between them) and then using the mouse on the blank square to
select a point (It's the position of the cursor which marks the spot). Press
the left mouse button once and a red dot will appear. Move the mouse in the
direction you want the word to be placed. When you are satisfied with the
position press the left mouse button again.

   The word will turn green in the square and in the words window. This
means that this word can still be deleted (see later). Once words turn red
in the words window, you can not change them.

THE WORDS MENU:

Erase Word:    Delete the green word in the square.

Restart:       Erase all the words in the square and start again.

Resize/Move:   As explained above.

Exit:          Exit creating the square. If this is selected when not all of
the words are in the square, the current square will be totally erased and
the program will exit the manual editing.

               Once all the words are entered - the Exit menu choice must be
selected. This will hold the square in the memory as long as ALL the words
are entered (all the words in the words window are red but one which is
green).



It is recommended that the words and the square (when saved) should be
loaded into a wordprocessor or any other similar package which accepts ASCII
format, and printed using that method. This is because when the program
prints the words, it prints them one after another on a new line which is
impratical if there are a lot of words.


CAUTION:       Make sure that the disk you use to save anything is not full
(or nearly full) otherwise if you try to save something, an AMOS error
message will appear and the program will exit and return you to the
Workbench/CLI.

   The Wordsearch Creator was written using AMOS Basic 1.3 and compiled
using the AMOS compiler.
