3,The Final Frontier Questionnaire

We have decided to organise  this  questionnaire  to  try to find out
what sort  of  magazine  you,  the  readers  of  The  Final Frontier,
actually want. By  completing  the  questionnaire  elsewhere  in this
issue and returning  them  to  us,  we  will  be  able  to  adapt our
production and we will be able  to  tailor  the magazine to suit your
needs.

We understand that many of you may be reluctant to spend time filling
in a form, many of you  thinking  that  we'll get enough replies from
other people, but with this questionnaire EVERY reply counts. If only
a couple of people respond, they will be in a position to dictate the
future style and content of the magazine, so if you have something to
say about the magazine, now's your chance.

As a further incentive  to  persuade  you  to  reply,  you can't have
failed to notice that this issue features an EXCLUSIVE interview with
top comedian, Jim Davidson. Jim kindly signed 10 copies of Issue 9 of
TFF and each of these  has  been  individually  numbered. Two will be
auctioned/raffled at Delta Quadrant  in  August  '96,  others will be
used for future competitions, but three  people chosen at random from
those who complete the questionnaire will also win a signed copy!

This article will give you  some  brief background information on why
we  are  doing  this,  as  well  as  containing  some  more  detailed
explanations of some of the questions where necesary.

The Final Frontier is now  approaching  it's tenth birthday. As such,
we felt that it was about time to  find out EXACTLY what you think of
the magazine, and to try and fimnd out  what you would like to see in
future issues. We are also planning a  few changes to try to increase
our release schedule (as you'll  see  below),  but  we wanted to make
sure that you, the reader, had no objections to this.

Taking the questions in turn, Question  1  simply gives us an idea of
where the majority of our  readers  obtain  the  magazine from, so we
know where to  concentrate  our  future  promotional  efforts. Again,
Question 2 helps us in this respect.

Question 3 is designed to  help  us  find  out what proportion of our
readers are now using  Amigas  fitted  with  either Kickstart 2.04 or
above, and how many are AGA users. Based on these results, we will be
able to determine whether or not  we should change The Final Frontier
into being a  Kickstart  2.04  +  magazine  (which  will  allow us to
introduce new facilities into  the  menu  system)  and  to decide how
much, if any, AGA artwork should be featured.

If the results indicate that AT  LEAST  90%  of our readers are using
Kickstart 2.04  or  higher,  then  we  will  proably  change  over to
requiring a minimum of Kickstart 2.04.  This  will, in turn, allow us
to change over to using FFS  disks  as  opposed to OFS disks, meaning
that we can fit an extra 40K of material onto each disk.

Question 4 is fairly straightforward.  The information here will help
us balance the magazine to suit  the  tastes  of the readers more. If
more of you like Classic Trek, then we will try to adjust the balance
accordingly.

Another couple of simple questions follow. Basically, questions 5 and
6 are geared towards finding out  why  so few of our readers actually
submit material to the magazine. Questions 7  and 8 are the same, but
are targetted specifically towards our letters section.

Question 9 has been  designed  to  help  us  evaluate what balance of
material you would like to see in  the magazine. For example, if as a
whole you want to see more art,  music and BBS material, we should be
able to increase our  release  schedule  quite  significantly, to the
extent that we could end up releasing at least 3/4 issues a year. The
rest will just allow us to  modify  the  magazine  so you get more of
what you want to see.

Question 10 is very similar in the  sense that if enough of you don't
mind non-original material, we can enhance our release schedule.

Questions 11 and 12 are simply  our  way of getting feedback from you
on our menu  system  and  to  find  out  any  ideas  you  may have on
improving it.

Question 13 is fairly  self-explanatory,  and  partially ties in with
question 3.

We are considering the possibility of  setting  up our own world wide
web page on the  internet.  As  such,  Questions  14  - 16 will prove
invaluable to us in determining whether or  not to go ahead with this
idea.

Questions 17 and 18 relate to  two other possible disk magazines that
we are planning and will help  us  gauge  the reaction to a couple of
ideas relating to them.

Finally, question 19 simply gives us an  idea  of how many of you are
thinking about attending our  first  ever  Trek  convention, and what
sort of TFF-related items we should run at the event.
