³¼DISC-DEAD OR ALIVE?¼³ ¹ For about a year ago Zine, CJ, Ice and Disc ruled the diskmagscene. CJ had at that time already started "their flight with an end !" but the other mags were really great. Suddenly DISC, which had a certain strenght since it was made by everybody in the scene disapearred. Some rumours said that Sanity was going to take over the magazine and that the code that Zine uses now should have been used. But Sanity didn't take over the magazine. Instead Iris said that they would continue producing the quite succesful mag. So the scene waited..... and waited.....and WAITED. Iris said now and then that the mag almost was finished but nothing happened. So action had to take place....One of the Top Secret reporters decided to ask the editor of Disc, Chris of Iris, about the future for Disc. ³TFG:¹ ²Could you please tell us what the reason is for Disc not being released for around a year now ?¹ ³Chris:¹ The coder of Disc has changed 3 times since the beginning and I'm not kickin' their ass everyday to have Disc !! ³TFG:¹ ²Ok,do you have any comments to all the talk about your mag actually should have had the code from Chaos/Sanity that Zine got instead ?¹ ³Chris:¹ Yep, that's right...Chaos began to code a new Disc code (I've got 2 previews) but when he went to Rebels, he left the Disc project. ³TFG:¹ ²Do you think that Disc now will be able to compete at the highest level again ?¹ ³Chris:¹ Of course...with good articles & gfx, Disc will reach its previous scene quickly..the other mags are made by a team, while Disc is a 'salad kam' production as said in Zine. That means that everybody make it and not only one group. ³TFG:¹ ²Will the next issue of Disc feature a new design & code ?¹ ³Chris:¹ Yes, the gfx are made by Goofy/Iris and the code is done by Wolverine/Iris...the articles...by you. For Disc, we could have used the old design, BUT WE DON'T WANT TO DO THAT !! ³TFG:¹ ²A lot of mags have disappered more or less like 4th Dim., Disc, Zine and some others. All of them have been some of the leading mags. Why do you think that it happens ? Is it too hard to make a prober mag ? Or too boring...¹ ³Chris:¹ Well, for a lot of people...the amiga-scene is a game. You play with it a few times and when it's getting boring...you find a new game. For some others the amiga is a way of life ! ³TFG:¹ ²What do you think about the development in the mag-scene since you released the last issue of Disc ?¹ ³Chris:¹ The last issue of Disc was released one year ago !! Mags are now like demos; everybody release one each day ! ³TFG:¹ Your opinion about: ²Mc Disk:¹...Better & better ! ²Raw:¹ Don't know..A newcomer ?! So the conclusion must be that be soon will see another issue of Disc. Maybe it will, as so much else, be released in Aars, maybe before, maybe later ! I guess that only time will show. Anyway, I peronally hope the Disc will return since I like the idea that is the foundation of Disc. Certainly it is another way of doing a mag, even though it could seems like it will be more of an Iris production than a scene production ? ³TFG/Majic 12¹
