4Changing 4countries Nowadays when reading news I often spot a small remark that XX of Z has moved from this country to that one. The news doesn't get a bigger space than FF of GG left, but think about it, it is one's 2life1 not his 3group!1 So that's why I decided to make an interview with one of these people, and because he moved from 3France1 to 2Finland,1 this one is called 2 Goin' Finnish 1 2Target: Crown of Cryptoburners1 3 Reporter (?): Fester1 3SH:1 As a start, please tell us your general reasons for leaving France! 2C:1 Well, many things have motivated me for leaving France. Many of my friends have already asked me about this so, I think that it is time to make an answer which contains the whole truth! The main reason is that -in my opinion- it's really interesting to have the possibility to live in a different country than the one you use to live. Because it gives you so much: 2a new culture, language, possibilities,...1 Nowadays in France the situation for newcomers is getting 3harder and harder1 which is something really stupid. I wanted to experience a new experience and it appeared to me as a great possibility. I like France but I like more to see 2new horizons1 and to learn from different people and situations. That's why I did it! 3SH:1 Why did you choose 3Finland1 to live in? Or you just wanted to leave France to anywhere? 2C:1 Hmmmm... So I first went to Finland for the 3Assembly '921 and there I met a girl called 2Katja.1 We both kept on writing for about one year, she was telling me about Finland and my interest was growing and growing. You are right, I "just wanted to leave France to anywhere". I knew already that I would move to a 2scandinavian1 country as I am totally pissed out with southern countries. I discovered Norway, Sweden... with films from 3Bergman..1 And I fell in love with them. My today's wish would be to live in 2Russia1 but due to it's critical economical/political situation it is still impossible. Who knows, maybe in a few years? 3SH:1 Is it hard to manage it without your friends from France? 2C:1 Of course it is always difficult to be far from my friends. But I have this luck to have them in the same group as I am so we are always in touch. We call each other twice a month and write,... I surely miss very much our 3"brioche parties"1 with 2Nicolas and Olivier.1 Anyway I now have a lot of Finnish friends: John (Meegosh/Movement) Samuli (Turtle/Accession) Robin (Roppe/Paradox) Jan (Storm/Crystal)... Well it has been hard at the beggining to make friends as Finns are extremely when they are 2sober.1 But with time, little by little, you create links and when you get a Finnish friend it will last a least for all your life. I go to France 3twice a year1 and we party a lot with my friends. That's the way it is. It's also true that people express themselves totally differently in letters, I personnally know things I would never have known if we didn't write to each other. 3SH:1 What did you work in France, and what is your job in Finland? @IPcityC 2C:1 I left France immediately 3after I graduated1 from movie high school. (it is a: movie/philosophy/litterature degree) The school system is very different in Finland so that their degree has no value. That's the reason why they have an exam to get into any university. And that's really boring when you are a foreign student as you need to pass an exam to get in. I am now working for a 2tv-commercial company1 as a lightning assistant and that's really great. Next I am going to apply in many other broadcast companies here in Finland as I am really keen on such work. I will turn into 3real film making1 in a few years as that's what I am really interested in. Making commercials is nice but you generally have really a lot of troubles with customers as they have their own ideas: 2"could you put a naked woman so that we would sell more of those carpets?"1 or 3"what about a macho man to make women more interested in our new detergents?".1 I might work as a French teatcher in September but nothing is sure yet! As you can guess, it has been really hard to find a job here but I believe that if you put 2all your efforts1 in it, there will always be somebody to remark it and to give you a job. It's a matter of time and motivation. Fortunately nowadays, all the so called developed countries have the same employment situation (near the level: zero). 3SH:1 Are people different? Is the atmosphere better or worse? 2C:1 What a question! Different from what? Can we take any country as an example? I don't think so! Well as the culture is different from the one I used to have, people appear to me different but I surely appear different to them as well (this sounds very much like a 2Monty Pytons 1sentence!) If you want a few examples, here they are: Finns are shy, they drink a lot (understand it as: REALLY A LOT!!!), girls are pretty (extremely pretty), they bike a lot... Well, the ambiance isn't better or worse. I like some parts of it but I really can't stand the way people behave when they are drunk. Most of the finns become 3very violent1 when they are drunk and this REALLY SUXX. The only thing (nothing to do with the atmosphere!) which is really boring is the food because out of their famous (?!?) meat balls plus potatoes, the finnish traditional food is 3extremely HEAVY1 for a not used stomach. Well I guess that you should build up your own opinion by trying! Good luck. 3SH:1 Are there any scene guys in 2Helsinki?1 2C:1 Almost all the famous Finnish groups have members living in Helsinki or in the suburb (Espoo, Vantaa, Kaunianen): 3 Accession , CnCd, Cryptoburners, Crystal, Damones, Dual Crew and Shining, Movement, Paradox, Sonic, Stellar, Tristar and Red Sector Inc, Virtual Dreams...1 As you can see they all have a quarter in the capital. And now few facts about 2Helsinki:1 3Turku1 was the capital but due to georaphical situation facilities, Helsinki became the finnish capital. There are about 2600 0001 people living there and over 1 milion if you count the suburb. Helsinki is served by only 3one metro line1 so you have to take the train, bus or even tramway (as they are still in use) to get to the place you want to go. Helsinki has a lot of connection which are all very well served. What should I add? Well, all of you should experience a week-end eve here. 3SH:1 Finally, tell us your honest opinion of your rather big step of moving to a country sooo far away. 2Was it really worth it?1 2C:1 Yes, definitely yes it is a very BIG step. You can't move to another country that easily. It's rather difficult for me to give you a straight exeprience as I moved to Finland without having anything: no home, no university or job,.... Fortunately I managed quite well but it took time to settle down. The biggest problem I encounter (I think that most of you will have it as well!!) is the racism. 3Finland is a very racist country and foreigners are really NOT WELCOME.1 Well Finland is not "sooo far way" it takes only 3 hours from Paris. I understand that some people don't wish to move out of their own country as it can be really hard: a 2new culture1 to live with, 3another language,1 and so on... I don't encourage evrybody to do it. One of my Italian friends is really interested in moving to Finland but I wanted him to know how it's really like. 2IT WAS WORTH DOING IT!!!! 1Because it is a great experience and it has given me a lot to do it. I have learned very much about today's life. Racists persons should really do it as they could open their mind. I come from a 3wellfare country1 but many people don't have the chance to be born in such a country. Is it a reason to blame them to be the causes of todays troubles: insecurity, enemployment,.... Think twice before acting!!! 3SH:1 Any last comments? 2C:1 First of all, I want to thank you for this really interesting questionnaire. To be honest I am not really interested in speaking about my hardware or other group's life.
