2     - Open rascism in the scene?1

Astounding, really astounding...

Have   you  read  all  those  diskmags
around   lately?    They  all  say  it
ultimately:    "AGA   suxx,  and  will
forever  and  A500 rulzt and I am cool
since  I  own one!" Ok, maybe they are
cool since they own one; maybe the 500
really  rulzt,  but,  what was that at
the 3PARTY III?1

All  the  best demos worked under AGA.
2Spaceballs,  Complex,  Virtual Dreams,
Infect...1   The  graphics  competition
got overruled by AGA, so was the intro
competition.

That's  absolutely stupid since we all
know  that  "AGA  suxx"!   No one owns
such  a  machine  so what is it for?!?
Simple.   As  I were walking round the
halls  of  the PARTY III, I faced that
at  least  3one  out of three1 computers
was  a  A1200,  A4000/030  or  even an
A4000/040.    "Just  one  third!"  you
might  say know, but what about people
having 2a  highend AMIGA and an A5001 at
home?   Wouldn't  many  of  them bring
along the old computer?  Or simply the
people  who didn't dare to bring their
A4000/030  to  the party - like I did?
Let's  face  it  again:2  Not less than
50%  of  all  scene members own an AGA
machine  or have direct access to one.
1That's the pure and plain fact.

Interesting  however  that  the higher
you  get  in  the ranks of the charts,
the  more  common an AGA-AMIGA is!  It
is  not  only  the  coder  of  the big
productions, sometimes it is the whole
crew!  No what does this tell me?  Are
the  higher  ranked  people 2the better
paid?1   Or have they simply recognised
the  chances  to blow life into a dead
body - the scene that is?

Now  that  we  come to understand that
the  AGA  machine  in  fact can be the
only  possible  direction  to keep the
scene alive if we don't want to do the
same mistake that 3COMMODORE1 themselves
did  -  loosing touch with the PC that
is  -  we  have  to change.  Or do you
expect  the  world from running so you
can  always  be on top?  Cultures come
and  cultures  go,  but  the  flexible
stays - longer!

The  A500-owner  has  to  bow  down in
front  of the AGA.  They miss the best
parts   of  the  scene  (the  high-end
demos).   They  get  frustrated.  They
quit.   Yet  the  AGA owner may laugh.

The  AMIGA  users killed the 3C-64,1 now
AGA  kills  the ordinary chipset.  Big
fish  swallows  little fish.  Rascism?
No, Darwinism!  The strongest survives
and  don't  come  and  tell  we need a
socialnet  to  catch  the falling A500
users.   Everyone  can afford a A1200.
3Everyone!1   It  is  just a question to
get  ones  arses up and go out working
for three months.  Is it?

Not      entirely.      What     about
under-computerialised   lands?3   Czech
Republic, Poland, Russia...1    Damned,
many  have just bought a A500 and this
shall be the end already?  I don't say
that  no  one  in  Poland can afford a
A1200  -  by  god  not!  - but still a
humungous   part   of  the  economical
growth   rate   there   is  one-sided,
leaving  many  people out.  Often they
simply  can't  expect  to  get  a  new
computer  that  fast.   So, what about
our    industrialised    world   where
unemployment most certainly still will
keep  on  destroying chances?  The end
of many attempts?  Rascism at last?

2Nope!1   The  A500  will  get his niche
like  the  C-64 got.  Have you watched
the    C-64    competitions    lately?
Absolutely astounding!  3Glenz vectors,
raytracing  in 16 colours...1   This is
impossible but it's true!  The A500 is
not at his end at all.  Blow life into
her  -  our old girlfriend, she really
deserves  it.  Maybe 2SANITY1 showed the
way:   Do  AGA demos but restrict them
on  A500.   The  effect  is immediate:
One reaches the whole scene, still the
AGA  may  show its full powers.  Full?
No,  not  at all!  It can't fully show
its  powers by staying compatible.  So
what?   Easy!  A 2second version1 of the
demo  must  become  made...  of course
that's  hard  but  I  guess  that many
people are interested in it.

If  we  loose the non-AGA parts of the
AMIGA  series,  we'll surely loose 50%
of  the  scene.  If we start to ignore
AGA,  however,  we  do  not only loose
this  50%  of  the  scene  but we will
sooner  or later shrink to the pitiful
remains  of  the 3C-64 scene1 - high-end
users who don't get realised.  In fact
the C-64 scene keeps alive by cracking
games  from  1988  again!  Do you want
such  a sad end?  2Then I'd rather sell
my AMIGA and get a PC.1

Open the gates, prevent the real break
in  the  scene!   2The enemy can't be a
rivaling AMIGA, we will have enough to
do  to prevent the PC from taking over
wide parts of the scene.1
