In the following lines we have an interview with one of the most popular Norwegian musicians, one of the chaps behind the #1 musicdisk: Mirror. He is now in a new group and let's hear what 4Lizard of 4Lemon. has to say... Your interviewer was Fester. -------------------------------------- 2SH:1 Ok, I think your scene activities don't have to be detailed, but please tell us a bit about your normal life and your looks! 3LZ:1 Hmm.. I'm 2181 years old. And I think of myself as crazy as any other computer freak. I usually get drunk in the weekend, (Don't we all?) and I am still imprisoned inside the school-system. I'm quite tall, dark haired and 2try to become a new Michael Jackson on the dancefloor!1 (NOT!) I'm living quietly in a small town here in Norway, and burning pigs is my favourite hobby! (Hi, Jason!) 2SH:1 The next standard question: please detail a bit your scene career! 3LZ:1 I started my career coding on the C64, and was then a member of 2"Megastyle Inc."1 However, I soon found out the advantages with the 3Amiga1, so I moved on... My first real group on the Amiga was 2Offence.1 Sadly there was alot of misunderstandings in Offence, so 3I, Moxy and Fairfax1 left in frustration. We then asked 3Andromeda,1 and their answer was positive. Anyway, I'm now a member of 2Lemon.1, and hope to stay in here for a while! 2SH:1 You and some others have joined Lemon. a time ago. Why did you leave Andromeda? 3LZ:1 Many reasons, actually. 2The main reason was the lack of group-contact and releases!1 Absolutely nothing happend! And I got quite bored. So I decided to leave them! Instead of wasting my time being part of the lazyness! Another reason is that none of the coders in Andromeda was, at the moment, keen on making games. And you just can't get rich on making music for introes/demoes e.g., so I decided to get more involved in game-productions! 2Blazer, Moxy and Duel probably joined to upset the An'dromedars!1 2SH:1 Facet stated in his texts that Lemon. is a small friendship group, and they probably will never let new people in. Despite of this, 5 Norwegians joined. How come? Did they ask you to join or you asked them? @IPlizzardC 3LZ:1Have Facet ever acted after what he wrote? (Just checking...) How come? Well, I guess Facet is the right person to ask, since I really can't read his mind! But if I should make a good guess, I think Facet had in mind that 3they needed a norwegian spy-division, to keep an eye on Spaceballs.1 So that we can win more demo-compotitions! :-) No, really.. I don't know why Facet changed his mind, but I'm glad he did! How we joined? Hmm... I think this is what happend: Facet called Moxy, Moxy called me, I accepted, so did Moxy, Moxy replied to Facet, and we were IN! (Did anyone understand that one?!?) So... They came to us first, I think... (Try to figure it out yourself, coz it ain't easy!) 2SH:1 Do you like the dynamic Lemon. style better than Andromeda's? 3LZ:1 Yes, indeed! 3Andromeda has a very nice design, but often lack the originality!1 Lemon. has both in my opinion. And Lemon. ain't so damn serious as Andromeda always tries to give an expression of. We can really do some madness, and still have a good laught over it! (And please, Andromeda, stop that latin crap! What's the point anyway? - You have to be a sunloving greek to understand it!) 2SH:1 I know that you play in a real music band. Could you tell us a little about that? 3LZ:1 Well.. The band is called 3"Night 2 Day"1, and consist of 10 members. Most of the members are "old timers" and have been playing in many other "famous" Norwegian bands. (I'm in fact the yongest member of the band!) We have recently finished a recording for a Norwegian 1st.league football-team. And we're currently working on a huge CD-project. But this project might be delayed due to economic reasons. We have recently invested in music-equipment for about 5000£, and we are experiencing a really rough time these days. However, I'm working single on some commercial MIDI-songs for a local radio station, and I sure hope I might get some of my bills paid soon! 2(Does anyone have any spare money to a poor old musician? Hey, just asking!)1 2SH:1 What real music(ians) do you prefer? 3LZ:1 Spin Doctors, 4-non blondes, The September when, Mezzoforte, Jarre, Dr. Alban, Ace of base, Metallica, Alice in chains, Red hot chilli peppers, Prince, Vamp, Michael Jackson, Tina Turner, Jan hammer, Eric Clapton, Elthon John, Sting, R.E.M, Rage against the machine and Pink Floyd... (Quite flexible taste, eh?) 2SH:1 What do you think about the other Lemon. musicians? 3LZ:1 2Nuke:1 Just great! I think he is the best musician in the scene, and I really like his latest and unreleased work. But sadly it seems like he owns a sampler just as destroyed as mine is! (2-bit-noise-samples rulz!) However, his samples always sounds great putted together! Keep doing those great modules, Martin! (I STILL love Colibri!) 2Julius:1 The tunes I've heard by him is quite good. But the tunes I've heard is rather old, so he might have made some new, and even better ones, lately... BTW. He's got some knocking nice bass+drum multisamples! Very cool technical ideas! @IPwomanC 2Nao:1 He is defently 3a chiptune-lover!1 But his other work is also nice. He has some great ideas, and he can practically make a 100kbytes tune atleast 50kbytes smaller! (So it seems, anyway!) Nice chiptunes, and many great serious work! 2Jason:1 Here is even my own norwegian colleague mentioned! What is there to tell about this guy? Nice look? Nah... His tunes are either REALLY great, or the opposite. But I can't help falling in love to his funk-tunes! (Actually he paid me 100 norwegian kroners to make sure I wrote that!) He also makes very nice background melodies. (The gathering intro e.g) He also have improved in technic and chord use. 2So I'm looking forward to our soon coming music-disk together, and co-op tunes!1 Watch for it! 2SH:1 Do you think that Lemon. will grow and explode like Anarchy did? 3LZ:1 I sure hope not! But it seems like Facet is letting everyone in these days. All you have to do is to live near his hometown, buy him a couple of beers, and you're in! No... A bit more serious. 2If Lemon. should expand anymore now, I'm afraid we might have the Anarchy story hitting us twice!1 Too many members make to much mess, and everybody doesn't have a clue of what anyone is doing! 2SH:1 Do you like the name Lemon.? 3LZ:1 Yea! It's funny, and since I personally think it's a very unique name, I just wonder how Facet came up with the great Black'n'White-logo idea! Can anyone help me? 2SH:1 Okay, last but not least, tell us about the future plans of Lemon.! 3LZ:1 Games, for my part! I'm for the moment 3making SFX'n'music to 2 games.1 One will soon be released through Black Legend Software, and the other game will hopefully be released around X-mas. (I need money for the great X-mas partey!) For the rest of the LeMon. members; I don't have a CLUE! Since I was rather busy this summerholiday, I haven't made contact with all the members of Lemon., yet. But here is something I know for sure is coming: (Or already has came!) - 2DMA-dream:1 Trackmo! - 3Funky-nation:1 70 demo (look for title on gfx-disk!) - 2Snake game (released?):1 Code + idea + gfx + music + design + timing by DAN! - 3Lemonade:1 Anyone! Is it released?!? - 2Legalize it III:1 Nuke hitting the yankees where it hurts! - 340kB Intro:1 Blazer'n'Duel coming strong! - A NEW Multi-Universial-Crazy 'n' surprising 2MUSIC-DISK1 from Jason & Lizard! ...Hold your breath, and stay tuned! 2SH:1 Any last comments or messages? 3LZ:1 2Jason:1 Call me! 2Facet:1 Write! 3Moxy:1 Don't get drunk, you'll regret it tomorrow! 2Julius:1 Send me something! 2Papillion:1 Start coding the music-disk source! 3Dan:1 How's your snake game doing? Ain't you finished yet? 2Hannible:1 Make your demoes compatible with the A1200! Without Fastmem... 2Paranoid:1 What'da heck is wrong with your last demo!?! AGA-chips and faster CPU is the future of this machine! Make sure your next product is compatible, okey? (I still haven't seen these productions because I've sold my old A500!!!) 3Dear Lord Helmet:1 What's these rumours about 2manipulate1 my article to your next R.A.W issue? You better keep your hands off it! :-( And yes, Kingpin... I'm going to make that tune for R.A.W tonight... (Hmm... almost anyway!) The rest of you out there... Look out for the next chapter of "Mirror", and go easy with the booz! (Hear me, Glenn? Blå-Russ rulz!) Contact me for ordinary swapping or module-swapping: 2Magnar Harestad (Lizard/Lemon.)
