U.F.O'S çddf,faa,afa,aaf,faf,ffa,aff «UFOS ·------------------- ¹UFO observations: Spherical Phenomenon: Phenomena which is seen as having a certain extend. When these phenomena is observed during daytime, they're called daylightsaucers.Radar-Visual: Observations where the phenomenon is observed both visually (by the human eye) and by radar, e.g. at airports or at military areas. Close Observation of 1. degree: This is an observation of an phenomenon which was present within 150 m. of the observator. Close Observation of 2. degree: An observation of an object where there also is rapported of physical effects like marks on the ground, electromagnetic influence or irritating sounds. Close Observation of 3. degree: Observation with observation of living creatures (Ufonauts) in connection to the phenomenon. This method of characterizing observations of phenomena is the most commen method, and is constructed by the world famous UFO scientist J. Allen Hynek. The UFO-thing started in 1947. On the 24. of june 1947, when the 32 years old businessman Kenneth Arnold flew his small one motor plane in 3 km. height in the area around the Cascade mountains. It was a beautiful day, not a cloud was in sight - pure sunshine was all there was. Suddently Arnold noticed a bright light for just ¶a second, and then it was gone again. He thought that it was an explosion, but when he looked around, all he saw was a DC-4 flying it's normal route. He was eased and relaxed again, when the light appeared again - this time from ahead of him. Far ahead he could see a formation of 9 glowing objects flying with an incredible speed. He assassed the distance between him and the objects to be 30 km, and to find out how fast they flew he timed them between two mountaintops and then started to calculate the speed. It had taken the objects 1"42 minutes to travel between two tops with a distance of 75 km (he had that from his map) in a total distance of 30 km. from himself. 2650 km/h was his result. 3 times faster than any known plane at that time! Ofcourse there was a lot of people who didn't believe what he told them, but whatever people thought of what happend upthere, Kenneth Arnold was the one to start off the UFO age. A few weeks after the Arnoldcase, the airforce announced that it was no longer interested in the UFOcases. They had already proved that the UFOs was purely imagination. This lack of interest was only a move to hide a secret project whose purpose was to satisfy the curiosity of the airforce - only the public shouldn't know that they still did research on UFOs. In the end of 1947 the men behind the project sent a message to pentagon saying "The rapported phenomenon is something real. not an illusion or a fantasy." This was found very ¶interesting at pentagon. So interesting that they made a new project - Project Sign - whose purpose was to "Examine all information concerning observations and phenomena in the atmosphere which can be seen upon as being of importance for the netional safety." Till this point everybody had seen the UFOs as being harmless and fascinating, but on the 7th January something happend that would change this forever. Just pass noon, a number of people in Kentucky had seen a large object racing across the sky. At the same time four F-51 Mustang planes had been called to land, but were instead asked to check on the UFO. 1 plane never started to follow the UFO because of fuel problems, and 2 other planes landed after following the UFO for some time. Only the fourth plane, flown by Thomas Mantell, kept following the UFO. After some time of chasing he reported on the radio "I'm rising to 20000 foot. If this won't bring me closer, I'm calling off the chase". This was the last thing ever heard from Mantell. His body was found in the F-51 near Fort Knox a few hours later. This forced the airforce into handling the cases, which Sign recieved, in a much more scientific way, to evaluate on the reports. For this work J. Allen Hynek, professor in astronomi at Ohio state university, was chosen. Twice a month he looked through all the reports that Sign recieved. Hynek had two remarks when reading a report. either he said "This must have been a meteor" or he said "This couldn't have ¶been a meteor". The airforce only wished for the UFOs to disappear, and they seemed happy about the disbelief of Hynek. In the beginning of 1949 the governmnet realized that, through several stories in the media and such things, that the project Sign wasn't very secret anymore, so they shut down the activities of Sign and instead they named a new project. Project Grudge. It's purpose was to minimize the importance of UFOs, but it didn't work very well, so after a short time a new and very effective project was started. It's name was Project Blue Book, and it was led by Edward J. Ruppelt. This project lasted for about 20 years until it in 1969 slowly faded out as the UFO stories became fewer and fewer. Another kind of stories that got much attention in the early years of the sixties were the stories of kidnapping.A wave of stories came about strange creatures from outer space that had kidnapped people, examined them and then placed them exactly where they took them, or sometimes several hundred miles away. A distance that would be impossible to travel in the time from they were missing till someone had contact with them again. The most famous of these stories is undaubtly the story of the Hill's. It all began the night of the 19/9 1961. Betty Hill and her husband Barney were driving from Canada to their home in Portsmouth after a holiday, when they suddently saw a starlike object moving in the sky. They asumed that it was a plane, and ¶they stopped a couple of times so Betty could watch the object. They were convinced that it was not a plane when it changed course and came towards them. It stopped very close to the car where it hoovered in 8-10 story height. When it had made some manuevers above the car it came towards them and stopped in front of the car, and they could both see, through some small windows, 5-10 humanoids working inside the ship. Betty Hill, who was standing outside the car watching the object, could hear Barney from the car saying "I don't believe this, it's ridiculous, I don't believe it". She quickly jumped into the car and they raced home. While they were driving there was some strange noises from the trunk that made the car vibrate. They got home without further trouble. This dosn't sound so bad, huh? But this episode should haunt Betty and Barney for several years. They both started to suffer from insomnia (Sleeplessness), and Barney had got a wound on the duodenum that kept getting bigger and bigger. When they tried to remember the experience they could only remember about 2 hours from they first saw the UFO till they were home. The problem was that there was some time missing. When they went to a doctor, he recommended psyciatric help, and he recommended hypnosis. In hypnosis they could tell a far more interesting story than the one they told when they were consious. Barney told that he had been led into the ship and into a room where they examined him with their hands. They counted my thoracic vertebras, they ¶¹turned him around and he was examined in his mouth. Then more men came into the room, and he could feel someone scratching his left arm. Then they left again, and the first one led him back to his car where Betty was waiting and opened the door for him. Betty told a similar story of an examination. She was taken into a room where some men was waiting together with the one that could speek english. After a while the man that seemed to be the doctor came in with a machine and they "took a picture of her skin". Afterwards they scratched her arm too, and the material the got was putted on some kind of plastic. Then she was led doen to the car again, and after some time Barney came. She also told that before she left the ship, she asked where they came from, and the englishspeaking humanoid showed her the planet on a starmap. They both recovered from the incident, but Barney died aged 46 from natural causes. Betty claimed several years later that she still saw UFO's. Sometimes 50-100 in one night in what she called "a special area" in New Hampshire, but she never claimed to have been kidnapped again.¹ ¢ Plugster of Defiance
