³½ Has the Amiga any½ ½Future?½ ² Hello scene-people, lamers and every other Amiga-freaks. A few days ago, I thought of something really disastrous. ¹Why isn't the Amiga the most popular computer ever?² My answer is: I think the Amiga has a too low commercial support. Every computer advertisements on the telly or in newspapers, magazines, etc. are for PC! Have you seen any Amiga-adds? Oh yes, in Amiga-mags! But NOT on the usual spots (the most seen ones). Now you probably say: 'I can't do anything about it, so why this bullshit anyway?' Just because I think we should support the Amiga a little more! You can also support it: Go to your local newspaper, put an add in it (share the costs!). Put papers on the wall (where it's admitted). Shout around the streets (without getting caught, ofcourse). Tell it to your family (EXPLAIN them!). Just make the Amiga the best known computer ever. Finally, if you are VERY desperately, you can even code a lame demo with 'Why the AMIGA is better than PC' on a 'friends' or FAR relative' msdos-calculator and spread it. ¢JUST DO IT! ¹ Only coding on Amiga has the same results as putting an advertisement for the Amiga in an Amiga-magazine! ³If you don't want to (or can't), here is a little story of what will happen in a few years: 'Johny is 20 years old, he lives in a big city somewhere in the US. Johny is planning to buy a new computer! It's 1996 and he is craving for one. He goes to a computershop in the neighbourhood. On a billboard near the entrance stands: "New computers for sale; CHEAP PRIZES!" The young chap walks inside. "Hello," says the salesman, "How can I help you?" ²"I want to buy a new computer, but I don't know which is the best... It's been a long time since I bought my last computer. Ah, let me remember, that was in 1993, I believe. Then I bought the Amiga 1200. Really a nice computer..." ³"Shame they doesn't exist anymore. It was a desperate struggle, but the Amiga simply couldn't put up with the latest PC's. You know, that time back there was even a plan for bringing out a new Amiga. That would have been the defeat of the personal computer. But, alas, that hasn't been done." ²"O yeah, I recall THAT! Those times were the best: the Amiga Scene, the diskmagazines, the demos, the everlasting games. Yesterday I saw a diskmagazine for the Amiga, long time no see. It was Issue 20 of Top Secret. A shame they are all faded away, or have gone to the pc, finally." (¢Top Secret is already on the PC. Same contest as the Amiga version. Maybe a 886-AT or even better: a multiple combined 986+Risc-AT, directly from IBM." ¹ "What does that 986+Risc cost......' YES! This could happen! Wait no longer! Let the Amiga SURVIVE! Don't let the situation be as with the MSX and Atari!!! While I was in England last year I have seen some Amiga adds. The only dissapointing was that sega has much much better ads on the telly. They are more agressive, have(?) or spend more money on it. God knows what is the truth. When I first saw the Mega CD add from Sega it was awesome. Same style add could be great for Commodore. Sega paid for the most expensive add times, I could see it during the main programs and so on. The other paintfull point is that we can see lotsa times Amigas with kickstart screen in the shops, but on the nintendoes and megadrives I always saw some kids playing around with Sonic.
