³¼ NO SATANISM IN¼ ¼ THE SCENE¼ ¹ A reply to "Satanism in the Scene", published in Resident #2 by Angelica. In the article called "Satanism in the scene", Splash of Angelica (now Defunct?) wrote that "Satanism is a growing problem in the scene these days". He also wrote a short list of three groups and productions which used/uses satanic symbols and slogans like ²666¹, ²pentagrams¹ etc, etc. Due to a lack of short-time memory I can't remember more than two of the entries on the list with three, but the ones I remember were: ³Destiny with our diskmag Satanic Rites¹ and ³Silents DK with their demo Demon Download¹. To this list could some more productions and groups be added, like ³T-Bone/TRSI's 40kb Intro released at The Gathering in 1993¹. Now, let's get to the point shall we ? Splash writes that satanism is a "growing problem" in the scene. Can you tell me, Splash, what you excactly mean by stating that? Is it wrong to use a planevector-pentagram in your demo, because it is used by some mentally unbalanced people playing a special kind of heavy metal music like the satanists recently discovered in Norway In TRSI's intro mentioned above, T-Bone used a planevector pentagram. I think, Splash, that this effect and most of the others you've noticed and mentioned in your article are made because it looks good. And I don't think The Master and Bionic of Silents DK called their demo "Demon Download" because they are ²declared satanists¹. I think they thought it was a cool name for their demo. We in Destiny did not call our diskmag "Satanic Rites" because we're satanists, which we're definately ²not¹. But because it sounds good. To put the record absolutely straight: It's just a name! Well, I guess the name wasn't the thing that offended you most with Satanic Rites. It was probably ²the articles¹. So let's how a look at the articles then. The "satanic" articles in SR aren't very "serious" are they? No. They are very parodic when it comes to the Satanic part in fact. Just read the article "Do-it-Yourself Demon Summoning" in issue #2 written by myself and Lord Stradh/Destiny. Here we tell you how to summon your own demon and we excaggerate this so much that even a complete idiot will see the irony in it. Let me tell you this, Splash of Angelica: Satanic Rites is not a copy of RAW or any other dead- serious diskmag. It's the ²tabloid¹ of the scene. But, of course we've also got serious parts, for instance, a coding section and news bulletins. In the passage after the list, Mr. Splash appeals to the readers of Resident to stop supporting Satanic Rites and writes that, I quote, "they write about how great Satan is and they are nuts.". I don't know if my quote is hundred percent correct but at least Splash states the two things mentioned about the greatness of Satan and the staffwriters and editors mental health. To take the "greatness of Satan" first: All the staffwriters I know, and the editor which I know very well, are ²atheists¹. That means that we won't believe in anything concerning the supernatural until we can see solid proof of it. That also means that we don't belive in neither god nor satan (none of them qualify for capital letters). How come we still write about satan then? It's probably irony. It's ¢DEFINATELY¢¹ irony! Concerning the mental instability of the SR staffwriters I don't know if I know everyone good enough, but I can guarrantee you that Lord Stradh, Tantalus, Terminator, and myself are NOT "nuts". I guess the others are very balanced mentally. And I'll hereby take the opportunity to ask Splash/Angelica, if he ever has counted the number of articles on satanism in SR. The number of satanic articles in do SR almost exceed the number of articles the average diskmag prints on a topic like the Burundesi language. The image of SR people get if they don't take the irony reading SR, is that the whole staff are satanists. Maybe people now will complain about that we shouldn't expect everyone on the scene to have the same moral views and the same sense of humour, but we haven't ordered anyone to read it. The disk won't explode if you format the disk without reading it. In this article I've almost only discussed Satanic Rites and satanism , but since Splash wrote about the scene in general I'll cover that topic too. The scene is not "satanic" at all, Splash. And the so-called satanism problem is just your own hype. What about heightening your tolerance border? ³Scourger/Destiny¹ Ha, ha, ha Scourger. You thought you could cheat us. But by turning the screen upside-down, reading the text backwards and thereby spraying the screen with a Hugo Boss deodorant spray, we discovered your secret message. I worship Satan....NOT !
