INTRODUCTION

Ever wanted to save a system screen?  Action Replay handled this well, but
as it isn`t available for the A1200 or A4000 (ok, there is a software 
version, but it dosen`t work on my A4000, anyone know why?) it required a 
software solution, here it is!  Please remember this tool wasn`t created for 
saving screens from demo versions of commercial art/design packages that have
the save option removed.  That would be immoral and therefore I wouldn`t 
write a tool to do such.


REQUIREMENTS

- Kickstart 2.x or higher 

- Reqtools.library in the Libs: dir

Screen to IFF has been tested on all 68000 processors from the 000 to the 
030 and on Kickstarts 2 and 3!  Although I don`t like the idea of alienating
KS1 users, this software uses gadtools.library, which is very cool.  I hope
I won`t be making a habit of this, but if you still only have KS1, please 
consider the upgrade.


WHAT IS A SYSTEM SCREEN?

A system screen has been created with intuition.library.  To check if the 
screen you wish to save is a system screen, try this little test;

Hold the left Amiga key, then press either N or M, this will swap the
system screens.  Basically if nothing happens, its NOT a system screen.  
Here are a few examples.  

You cannot save a screen from a demo such as "Jesus on E`s", or from a game
such as "Zool".  These screens are hardware generated and you need an old 
style graphics searcher to find them after a reset.

You can save a screen from "Fractuality demo version" that has the save 
option removed (but as I said above this is immoral and I do not recommend
it, honest!).  From these examples i`m sure you get the idea!


USAGE

When you are ready to save your screen (or perhaps you want to run this in 
the background anyway), go to the CLI and type SCREEN2IFF.  You will be 
presented with a list of screens, this will include the screen sizes.  You
will notice some screens have no name, but of course they still have a size!
Using the mouse, click on the screen you want to save, then click on SAVE.
Reqtools.library will let you select the device you wish to save to, along
with the filename.  Thats the lot, simple to use!

You can also load it from workbench in the usual way, by clicking on the 
icon.

SCREEN2IFF auto detaches so there is no need to RUN it.
