New to this version: -3D transformations -Animations -More formulas And now, How to identify trees from far far away... Before running: -make a directory 'UI' (optional, but recommended.) -assign UI: to the directory which holds the *default files (probably UI/ParameterFiles) -You must have gadtools.library and reqtools.library v38.961 (therefore you must have 2.0+ to use this program, but if you don't, I pity you anyway..) How to run UI: -enter a Shell and type [run] ui (run optional, if you want to single-task, that's your business...) -if run from shell, type 'ui ?' for command-line options (see Part 2) -double-click UI's icon. What to do once you're in: -a Mandelbrot will be drawing. You may interrupt this or any other fractal at any time (more later on this.) -press a key or use a menu: -Keys PALETTE FUNCTIONS , Rotate palette down . Rotate palette up / Sets the Delay() between color cycles: 0 is extremely fast; higher is slower. TAB Starts/stops color cycling. All other UI activity stops while cycling. = Generates a random palette. + Generates a palette using mathematical functions. The input is a three- digit number, the digits representing which function to use for red, green, and blue. Enter a zero to have none of that color in the palette ex. 972 9=R, 7=G, 2=B; 502 5=R, 2=B, no green (shades of purple). 000 is not allowed: the minimum is 001. (just enter a 1.) [ Saves current palette (not in IFF form..) Pops up a requester for file name. ] Loads previously saved palette (see [) Backspace Draws a bar along the left side of the screen showing the current palette. L pops up palette requester Alt1-Alt9 Selects built-in palette. try them and see what they are. FRACTAL PARAMETER FUNCTIONS 1-8 Select number of iterations. 1=16 2=32 3=64 4=128 5=256 6=512 7=1024 8=4096 Shift1-Shift8 Select number of iterations without clearing the screen. (see 1-8) a Enter corner values for current fractal in this order: x1 x2 y1 y2 (in seperate requesters) c Enter a number of iterations not built in. C 'c' but does not clear the screen. f Enter P and Q parameters. x Enter S and T parameters. F Enter P, Q, S, and T parameters. r Enter "Breakout value:" number an iteration must evaluate to in order to end iterations for that pixel s Select fractal formula. w Restart current screen. Y Enter Lyapunov AB string, ex. ABAABBAAB or bba z Zoom out Z zoom in Scrolling functions: U up H J left, right N down AltZ Set amount used to Z, z, H, J, N, and U. DISK FUNCTIONS A save a sequence of images for later assembly into an animation. Press A, and a requester will come up for the base file name. Another requester will ask for the number of frames. Then OK the next informational requester. To designate the start and end points of the anim, pretend you're zooming in to the first frame's coordinates, and then pretend you're zooming in to the end frame. The positions and sizes of the rectangles may both be different, to allow, say, moving to the left in a Julia set and zooming in at the same time. The images will be saved as .xxx, ex. ram:anim1.001 to ram:anim1.030 for a 30-frame anim. You may load these into DPaint 4 to make an animation.
