Preface
=======

   Have you ever had a phone/BBS number and wondered just where it was
located?  Well, using this little utility  you can find out just that and
more besides...


Features
========

Usage
=====
   
   Double-click on the icon and you will be presented with a small window.
In this window is a text gadget box into which you can type any of the
following:-

     UK STD Dialling Code - Returns the location

     UK Town or City - returns the STD Dialling Code

     International Dialling Code - Returns the country and time difference

     Country - returns the International Dialling Code and time difference


   When typing in town/city or country names there is often no need to type
in the whole name. Just type in a few characters of the name and the
program will search through the database for the first occurance of those
characters and display the result.

   When requesting the country for a known International Dialling Code
ALWAYS put a plus sign (+) in front of the number to show that it is an
international code you're after. 
E.g. Entering  +44    would result in    Great Britain       GMT
     Entering  +234   would result in    Nigeria             +1

   Most international phone numbers are listed like this anyway, 
for example:  +44 (0)234 567890

   If you get a "Sorry, not found..." message it means that a match for
whatever you entered has not been found therefore no result can be shown.

   Reasons include:
   
   · You mis-typed the dialling code or place name

   · You forgot the '+' for International Dialling Codes

   · The town or city comes under another telephone exchange

   · The country's dialling code has more than 3 figures

   Over 170 countries codes are known by the program. This includes all
European countries, all major world-wide countries and many smaller
countries too. If you need the code for a really small obscure country then
maybe you'll have to wait a future release! (Or ask the operator!)

Using from within Term
======================

   Because "Dialling Codes" opens its window on the front-most screen you
can get it to appear on Term's screen. This is useful for checking a
dialling code from within Term.
   To enable this follow these steps:

   1. Select "Console window..." from the settings menu
   2. Change whats there to read  "NIL:"   (Stops a console window opening)
   3. Click "Okay"
   4. Select "Function keys..." from the settings menu
   5. In a blank space enter "\d Run "DH0:Utilities/Dialling Codes" - Don't
      forget to substitute "DH0:Utilities/" for the correct path
   6. Click "Use" or "Save"

   Now when you press the right function key "Dialling Codes" will appear
on the Term screen and stay there until you close its window

   
   (Whichever screen is front-most when you load "Dialling Codes" will be
the screen upon which it will open its window. Therefore you can use this
from within almost any other program.)

About the Program
=================

    Dialling Codes V1.1 was written by me (Julian Wright) in two evenings
(approx. 5 hours) using Blitz Basic 2 by Acid Software. If anyone wants the
source code for this program (maybe you'd like to add all the other
countries!!) then send a blank disk and return postage and packing to the
address below. No disk, postage or packaging = No reply!!

V1.1 : (21/5/94) Fixed bug whereby typing a place in a mixture of upper and 
       lower case letters (e.g. mAnChEsTeR) would give "Sorry, Not found..."
