@7Introducing the Guardians of Gallifrey Since 1986, by fans for fans... @1 The Guardians of Gallifrey is a not-for-profit Doctor Who fan club based in Central Florida, U.S.A. Our club is very social. We meet on the second Saturday of each month, and have a relaxed and informal get-together; we enjoy meeting other people who have an interest in science fiction in general, and in Doctor Who in particular. Our usual agenda includes greeting friends, getting to know each other and catching up on the latest "Who" gossip. We also feature club announcements, eat lunch, watch Doctor Who episodes and Guardian-produced videos, have trivia contests (with prizes), and cheer on our live Guardian Theater or "WHO's Line is it Anyway?". Plus, there's always a few surprises! Several times a year, the Guardians answer the phones and work behind the scenes at the local PBS television station's pledge drive. We also march in the Queen Kumquat Sashay Parade (part of the "Light Up Orlando celebration"), the March-O-Dimes WalkaThon and attend some of the science fiction and fantasy conventions held around our local planet. Each month the Guardians of Gallifrey publish a newsletter called the (surprise!!) Gallifrey Guardian. This desktop masterpiece, running from 16 to 20 pages on the average, contains short stories and artwork created by club members and news gathered from many different sources (including the horse's mouth). It also contains vital viewing information about Doctor Who and other science fiction and science series from our local PBS stations. Each year we have a short story contest and publish a yearbook which contains the winners of the short story contest, along with artwork, photos, and articles by our members. We enjoy other special events such as a picnic in April, Anniversary party in June, and our Christmas extravaganza (including a members' cabaret). In 1993 the club produced our first live action video, "The New Order." This 48-minute visual delight turned out to be the next best thing to a new series of Doctor Who. Members receive a discount on the purchase of their very own copy of this masterpiece. We have already started our next production with taping slated to begin in the first quarter of 1994. Along with our other fabulous publications we have "Doctor Who's in the Kitchen"; a club member cookbook filled with recipes for such delights as "Dalek Droppings" and "Dirt". And last but not least is our club T-Shirts. Our latest issue for 1993 is our famous councilor symbol surrounded by a supernova of colors on a gray 50/50 "T" in several sizes.
