             A little bit about the modules on this disk.
 

    THERE ARE TWO WAYS TO ACCESS THE MODS THIS ISSUE. THE FIRST IS JUST
    BY CLICKING ON THEIR BOX ON THE MENU. THIS WILl MEAN HOWEVER, THAT
    ONCE A MOD HAS STARTED, YOU MUST RE-BOOT TO CHANGE IT...
  
    YOU CAN CHANGE MODS WITHOUT RE-BOOTING BUT A BE LITTLE KNOWLEDGE
    MUST BE GAINED BEFORE YOU CAN GET THEM TO WORK. ALMOST EVERYONE WHO 
    RECEIVED TI1 COMPLAINED THAT THEY HAD TO RE-BOOT TO LISTEN TO ANOTHER MOD. 
    WELL, THIS WAS THE THE BEST WAY I COULD GET ROUND THE PROBLEM IF ANYONE 
    CAN DO BETTER, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. 
  
    TO ACCESS THE MODS IN THIS WAY....

    1) MOVE THE MOUSE POINTER UP TO THE TITLE BAR AND HOLD DOWN THE LEFT
       MOUSE BUTTON. PULL DOWN ON THE MOUSE WHILST STILL HOLDING DOWN THE
       LEFT MOUSE BUTTON. THE TITLE BAR IS AT THE TOP OF THE SCREEN, IT'S 
       BLACK AND HAS THE WORDS "THE MED USERS GROUP DISK MAGAZINE" WRITTEN
       ON IT.

    2) DO THIS UNTIL YOU REVEAL A BLACK VOID.

    3) CLICK ON THIS BLACK VOID (I KNOW IT SOUNDS SILLY, TRUST ME!)

    4) PRESS F1 FOR SEX, BOOZE AND VIDEOGAMES
       PRESS F2 FOR SPACESHIP
       PRESS F3 FOR JILL AND THE CRUISE MISSILES
       PRESS F4 FOR FUNKY 5TH
       PRESS F5 FOR CHERYL HEAVEN
 
    5) NOW YOU CAN READ THE DOCS AS NORMAL (YOU'LL HAVE TO PULL THE MENU
       BACK UP). IF YOU WANT TO CHANGE THE MOD, SIMPLY CLICK ON THE BLACK
       VOID AGAIN AND PRESS ANOTHER THE CORRESPONDING F KEY. THE MOD WILL 
       STOP AUTOMATICALLY AND THE NEXT MOD WILL LOAD!


  So, you may ask "just what are these modules all about then??"

    


              Sex, Booze and Videogames by Trank Mast

    This is awarded the first Tune-Of-The-Month award and the lucky
    author should be receiving a OctaMED manual in the post any day
    now. Here's a little bit from Mr. Mast himself...

       "When I'm creating a piece of music I can usually get a
        decent start and follow it through to the middle but
        sometimes I just loose it. Either I get bored, or I
        just run out of ideas. Some of my modules have suffered
        by having a barely adequate ending. It's like Richard
        or said in TI1 "My mods tend to be rather vague as I 
        never concentrate on something for too long, but hope-
        fully that's just a phase I'm going through!" That's
        just like me. The basic structure `the tune' is very
        important I think, even though over aspects of the
        piece may be shoddy."

    
   Sex, Booze, and Videogames was written in 4 channels and features
   (in my personal opinion) one of the best opening riffs I've ever
   heard.

 
                        Spaceship by Tom Cozzolino

   Our Tom seems to produce roughly 6 mods a month and this is one of his
   better efforts. This achieved the mark of 7/1O in last month's ModSpot
   and Tom has the honour of having a letter published in this month's
   letters page as well. He don't 'arf get about!

   Spaceship is also a original 4 track and is a very moody piece of work.
   Check it out!
   

              Jill and the Cruise Missiles by Peter Kwann
  
   I couldn't resist putting this on. At only 5710 bytes (uncrunched) this
   has got to be one of the smallest (memory-wise) mods ever (anyone know
   different?) Here's Peter's opinions of it...

        "Jill and the Cruise Missiles only uses a single synth 
         instrument which makes it a very compact mod (You're
         not kidding - Ed.) It weaves slowly changing harmonies
         around a central theme. It's only 1 minute 3O seconds long
         and I like it and I don't care what you think."

   Fair enough!

                        Funky 5th by Dave Sullivan
   
   
   Not a lot to be said on this one. It was originally written for a game
   which was never released. Dave Sullivan is the bloke behind the "Audio
   Imaging" company. Check out the news section for more details.


                       Cheryl Heaven by Andy Baxter
                       
   We thought it only fair to include a tune by our new mod reviewer. This
   four track job is very well put together and well, we'll let Andy explain
   it's rather interesting title.
   
         "The tune is based on a girl I never met. I saw the name on
          a memo from head office of an Insurance firm I once worked
          for. Sort of an Inspiration. The tune itself is quite mellow
          if a little short".

   Hope you enjoy the mods. If you want to load them through OctaMED
   you'll have to have V3, V4, or V5 I'm afraid. Just load them up
   as normal. Those who haven't will have to, er, upgrade!
