Hello there! Right here goes... first of all let me welcome you to the ultimate in game cheat technology!! This disk hold the most extensive list of cheats ever made.. Over 1000!,not only that but it als?":&^%$ There I go again talking utter rubbish that no-one is interested in. IF YOU ARE A SMART ALECK AND KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING GO TO THE BOTTOM OF THE TEXT. THIS NEXT BIT IS FOR THICKIES !! How to install this proggy: *************************** It`s easy peasy,but as I realise there are some people out there who have only had an AMIGA for a few months heres how it goes... When you double click on the INSTALL-V5 icon you will be presented with a little box full of buttons.. DON`T BE TEMPTED to click on the NOVICE user button for surely disaster will befall you! No,`tis much easier to click on the INTERMEDIATE or EXPERT buttons (both do the same). On the next screen click on PROCEED. The next screen will ask you where you want to put the main program,now this is entirely up to you,any directory will do Games,Stuff,Bits,Temp,Fingy,Wotsit etc etc.. If you don`t have a drawer or directory as we call it then just click on the MAKE NEW DRAWER button and the program will ask you to give the new drawer a name (Bartholomew is nice!) and then you can dump it in there! When the main proggy has been loaded another screen pops up and asks where to put the FONTS. FONTS? what are they? ********************* The Fonts are the typefaces or styles of text,now V5 cheats uses a few groovy ones of it`s own.the best place for the FONTS to go is a directory called (funnily enough!) FONTS: So bung em in there.(You can find the FONTS: directory by clicking on PARENT DRAWER a couple of times and then scrolling through the list of directorys and files. When you find FONTS: just click on it then click on PROCEED.) (If you know what you are doing goto (ha) the bottom of the text for more info). LIBRARYS ? Ooer I`m scared! *************************** Librarys are technical fingys that make everything tick over. Basically they are tiny programs that tell your AMIGA how to open windows,how to make calculations and other really exciting things like that(!!) Anyway,guess where the best place to put the LIBRARYS is ?? Well in the LIBS: directory of course! So what do ya do,throw `em in there of course.(To find the LIBS: directory just do the same as you did for the FONTS:) Next thing ya know everythings done,a little message pops up and tells you it`s all over,so you click on proceed,open up your directory (drawer) where V5 is and what happens..... Not a lot! You haven`t assigned it yet! ASSIGN Oh no this is too much! ****************************** There is a little file in your S: directory called User-Startup.What you need to do is add a line of text to the end of this file,so first of all you need to open a SHELL. You will have this somewhere on your Workbench. Double click on the SHELL icon and a little window appears, type in this window... Ed s/user-startup Just like that.Next thing you know all sorts of text appears (hopefully) if it doesn`t you have either never installed anything on your hard drive before,or you made a mistake with what you typed in.Check it again and when you finally get that screen full of text,go to the bottom of the screen (use the arrow buttons),find a nice clear space and type in the following line EXACTLY.... ASSIGN Cheats5: Work:wherever / Work or Dh0 OR / or Hd0 is whatever ASSIGN Cheats5: Dh0:wherever />>> your Hard Drive is OR / called | ASSIGN Cheats5: Hd0:wherever / | | <<<<< / Don`t get confused now,you only need to type in ONE of those lines,Dont type in the OR just the one single line like: ASSIGN Cheats5: Work:wherever. Once that`s done just SAVE it (Right Mouse Button at the top of the screen) and Bob`s your auntie! Turn off your computer for 20 secs switch on again and everything should work OK! Phew glad that`s done,any probs just wade through all that stuff again,it will be clearer after the 20th time! Good Luck....... Nostromo. Now for the clever dicks! ************************* When this proggy is installed it also installs some FONTS and LIBRARYS. If you are not happy about having Fonts and Libs just thrown in willy nilly then I suggest you have a look at what is what using DOpus or SID etc. The Fonts are: Topaz (already on your computer) Scala 11 (Nice) Vixen 8 (Digital sort of) The program uses these a lot,it will work without them,but it looks like a bag of poo! So I suggest you bung them over manually if you aren`t sure. The same goes for the LIBS asl.library (an old version) diskfont.library (WB3 version) mathieeeedoubbas.library (WB3 version) lowlevel.library (WB3 version) powerpacker.library (V4) So if you already have these librarys you needn`t copy them but I must stress that the program NEEDS all of them. When installing using the installer on the cheats5 disk you can load in everything then ABORT when you get to the FONTS or LIBS section,then do the rest manually if you like. DONT FORGET TO ASSIGN DONT FORGET TO ASSIGN EG: Assign cheats5: Work:wherever Assign cheats5: Dh0:wherever Assign cheats5: Hd0:wherever etc etc etc ..... Well have fun.... N.
