Flexidump v2.50cu Copyright (C)1988/93 Zitasoft by Steve Jones Restricted release via CU Amiga. Most definitely not in the public domain. All Rights Reserved. Backing up Flexidump -------------------- To make a backup of Flexidump, either do a complete disk copy or follow your usual routine of making a boot-able workbench disk and then copy the 'FLEXIDMP' directory on the master disk over to the backup disk using the ram disk as a go between if you have only 1 disk drive. That is all that is necessary but it is a good idea to edit your startup sequence in the 'S' directory and add the lines below, substituting the path of the new flexi directory in place of 'DF0:'. assign FLEXI: DF0:FLEXIDMP path add FLEXI: The assignment line allows Flexidump to find a default 'FLEXI.CUS' driver in the FLEXI directory which it will automatically load on running. FLEXIDUMP as received on the master, is 'built in' configured for the Epson JX80C 9 pin color and compatibles. Hard disk users might also like to add assignments to their startup sequence for ART: (picture files) and FLX: (for RAW printer data files used by Flexidump's mass production function.) These will then be defaulted to on program execution. Despite the built in driver, the program will look for the file 'FLEXI:FLEXI.CUS' and if found will load that driver overriding the built in default driver. If there is no FLEXI: assignment, then it will look for the FLEXI.CUS file in the current directory. If the file is not found then you are informed and may manually load a driver or use the default. If you have a single color printer eg FX80 or LX80 then you will find an FX80.'CUS' file in the custom directory. You can transfer your selected .CUS file to the FLEXI: directory and rename the chosen file to FLEXI.CUS Flexi will then automatically read this on startup. Upgrade ------- Flexidump will continue to be updated from time to time and will have additional functions added to it (not just bug fixes). Upgrades when available can be obtained via:- Care Electronics, 15 Holland Gdns, Garston (near Watford). WD2 6NL, U.K. Tel: (0923) 894064 & Fax (0923) 672102. Files on disk ------------- Flexi.Prg Flexicat.Prg Custom.Prg CUS directory FLX directory Flexi.Prg --------- Flexi.Prg is the main Flexidump program for producing varying sizes of hardcopy on dot matrix printers. The program completely ignores the DOS printer drivers and preference settings with the exception of the preferences selected printer port. Flexicat.Prg ------------ The Flexicat program can be used to produce a pictorial catalog of the IFF ILBM picture files contained within a directory. Most of the options of Flexicat are duplicates of those available within Flexidump and you should familiarise yourself with Flexidump prior to trying Flexicat. Custom.Prg ---------- Custom.Prg is a program to create or modify '.CUS' printer information files. These files inform Flexidump of your printers capabilities and the codes to use. These '.CUS' files are contained in the 'CUS' directory. Your chosen .CUS file should be saved under the name 'FLEXI.CUS' in the 'FLEXI:' directory of the program disk for it to be auto loaded on execution of Flexidump. CUS directory ------------- The CUS directory contains a number of (.CUS) printer information files which inform Flexidump which facilities are available to your printer. These files are not really printer drivers, Flexidump is the printer driver. The customising program on can be used to create these information files for non standard dot matrix printers and to customise standard ones. FLX directory ------------- Flexidump will allow you to print to a file rather than the printer and these raw printer data files will be saved with a '.FLX' extender. These files can later be loaded into Flexidump's Flexispool option to mass produce identical labels, letterheads or whatever. The FLX directory contains a few .FLX files produced on a 9 pin Epson compatible mono printer. This directory contains no icons. PIC directory ------------- The PIC directory contains a several ILBM picture files without icons and the '4AM' sub directory which holds a number of demonstration screens designed by Jill Lawson of 4AM Designs.
