Files enclosed DESCA 12876 Amiga version (Yehh) DESCA.EXE 7200 PC version (Ok, I use shit PC's too, so what?) AZCOLORS.IFF 4584 Sample pic showing the AzComm8col colors and also You could use it to test this shit DESCA.DOC 2043 This file (Amiga format) DESCA.TXT 2086 This file in PC format (urks) Limitations to the picture 320 * 256, 3 bitplanes, IFF ILBM (BYTERUN1 compressed) You should leave at least 1 row of pixels blank at either or both sides of the screen, per each line. You should leave at lease 8 lines blank at the bottom of the picture. The more color changes per line, the bigger the resulting ANSI-file will get. (-surprise, huh?) A two- or three-pixel-wide colored area, surrounded by black, produces the same # bytes as a one-pixel-wide one, in most cases... A single black pixel between 2 adjacent different-colored areas produces lots of extra bytes, so should be avoided? Limitations to the conversion It isn't 100% optimized (I'm lazy...), and it makes no difference whether You use 1, 2 or 3 of the bitplanes... No "most-used-color" optimization is done... use as much color 0 as possible produces the smallest files... Large same-colored areas produces small & fast files. Small letters and such stuff produces loadsa bytes... tough luck but as I said it's for the modemability... no chars above $7F are used (sigh, why do almost all comms proggs "wash away" our beloved swedish characters and all others +$80, whether You want them to or not..., damn crap 'o shit...) but if You wanna do black-and-white ansipics then there are other proggs out that does the trick... I did it first (I think) but am lazy so didn't bother releasing such a progg (I did that old fucken warfalcons unpack-pic mentioned by some...) this is for all You modemfreaks out there so enjoy. And ok I know it's coded damned unsmart and so but I'm lazy and anyway I'm not really a coder. Urks... Well don't blame me if You think it stinks. Coma/S.O.S January 30, 1991
