THE MAIN MENU SINGLE GAME: A single game can be between a player and the computer or between 2 players.2 players can team up against the computer or against 2 other players (with adaptor). There are also many various options of altering pitch type,wind speed/direction etc... THE LEAGUE: There is a league of 8 teams lasting 14 weeks.The leauge championship requires consistentexellence.8 players can play in the leauge which can be saved to continue later. THE CUP: The cup tournament is played on a knock out basis.If there is no result,extra time is played.If there is still no result, a penalty shoot out decides the winner. INT. FRIENDLY: This option allows you to play a single match using international sides with their distinct styles of play. PRACTICE: This mode allows one or two players to practice their ball control without being herassed by the oposition. OPTIONS: The options menu sets the conditions for a single game or international freindly.The options must be selected before playing the game. SPECIAL EVENTS:This option is used for loading data disks to be published at a later date. ACTION REPLAY: (Disk only) This option is used to edit a file of action replay of goals to make a "golden goals disk" KIT DESIGN: This option enables design of custom kit for a single game only. THE OPTIONS The options menu once set remains unchanged until changed.The DEFALT conditions are in BOLD DURATION: 2x3, 2x5, 2x10 and 2x2.The league and cup matches are 2 x 5 min. PITCH: A choice of 4 playing surfaces- NORMAL.....Normal bounce and travel. SOGGY......Ball bounce and travel. WET........Increased ball travel and speed. ARTIFICIAL.High speed bounce,increased ball travel/speed and reduced player stamina. EXTRA TIME/PENALTIES: Yes or No If the answer is YES,extra time proportional to the full match duration is played if the result is a draw after the full time. The extra time is in two halves and the teams change ends at the half time.If the result is still a draw then a sudden death penalty shoot out decides the result. WIND: A choice of 4 (Off,Light,Medium and Strong.) TACTICS: Each team can use a total of 4 tactics on the game disc or the data disk containing tactics designed by the player manager. SKILL LEVEL: Choice of 5 skill levels - International,1st,2nd,2rd and 4th divisions. The attributes and skills of the players corresponds to the division.In a single match,identical squads are presented for both players, thus ensuring that the result depends on the skill of the players only. The skill level of both teams can be set independantly. This facility allows even a novice with an international squad to play against an experienced player with 4th division squal a run for his money. NOTE-There is another level namet "PLAYER MANAGER" this allows a "Player Manager" team to be loaded along with its tactics to play against another player or computer at any of the 5 skill levels or play against another "Player Manager" team. LEAGUE OPTIONS:The skill level at which the league is played can be selected.A choice of 3rd division, 1st division or international. GAME SPEED: The speed of the agme can be changed. At reduced speed, it is possible to play a very tactical game and see how your tactics actually work and the response of your opponents. There are 3 speeds FAST,MEDIUM,SLOW. AFTER TOUCH: YES or NO If the answer is YES,the ball direction can be altered for a short duration after shooting, Ideal for bending the ball. SELECT REFEREE:YES or NO You amy select any of the 24 referees. The referees play a very important part in the game. THE PLAYERS Each player on the pitch has a unique mix of attributes and skills: Attributes -PACE-STAMINA-AGRESSION-RESILIENCE- Skills -PASSING-SHOOTING-TACKLING- This mix determins the performence of the players.In various ways. SELECTING SKILL LEVELS:There are 5 skill levels: 1) INTERNATIONAL, 2) 1st DIVISION, 3) 2nd DIVISION, 4) 3rd DIVISION, 5) 4th DIVISION, 6) PLAYER MANAGER. SELECTING THE NUMBER OF PLAYERS: 1 to 4 playes. These changed by the TEAM SELECTION. GAME OPTIONS: All four options are selected via the main menu. SINGLE GAME- 2 players against 2 players, 1 player against computer, 2 players against computer, 1 player against 1 player. On selecting this option you will be asked number of players 1,2,3 or 4. SELECT TEAMS- Gives you the oppertunity to select both teams. The winner of the toss decides whether to play up or down pitch, the name of the referee is displayed. TACTICS- Select the tactics for the start of the match using the keyboard. The tactics can be changed any time during the match when the ball is out of play. SUBSTITUTIONS- Two substitutions are allowed in a match. INTERNATIONAL FRIENDLY: This option allows you to play a single game between any two international teams. On selecting this option a list of all the countries is presented hilight the team A then press fire and do the same for team B. THE LEAGUE: The league consists of 8 teams and lasts 14 weeks. There are 3 skill levels,third,first and international at which the league can be played.Use the OPTIONS menu to set the skill level (Defalt is level 1) the following options are avalable: CHANGE THE LEAGUE: Move joystick up/down to highlight a team and press fire to select and use the keyboard. SELECTING THE TEAMS: When the table first appears, the letter C appears against all the teams to say that all the teams are under computer comtrol. To change the team to joystick i.e play that team in the league. Move joystick to highlight the team then press F1. LOAD PLAYER/MAMAGER TEAMS: To load a player manager team first highlight the team you wish to replace with the other team then press F3 and insert your TEAM DATA DISK and press the fire button. LOADING PLAYER/MANAGER TACTICS: Highlight the team you wish to load the new tactics to and press F5 and insert Player Manager DATA disk and press the fire button a DIR will be displayed with all the tactics, move the joystick to highlight the tactics and press the fire button. LOAD: This option allows you to load a previously saved league and continue it. When this option is exercised,none of the options above can be used, insert your saved league disk and press fire. Select the league to load and press fire. CONTINUE: Select this option to play the league that has been loaded. (teams next to play will be highlighted) SAVE: Select this option to save a current league. A FORMATED disk is needed to save on to. QUIT: The league is abandoned without saving and the program returns to the MAIN menu. PLAY MATCH: The squad selection screens for each team are displayed next. The game now follows is the same as a single game. THE CUP The cup tournament is for 8 teams and is a knock out basis. In the case of a draw,there is extra time etc. TEAM SELECTION PLAY OPTIONS: PLAYING AS A TEAM: The player controls the player nearest the ball. PLAYING IN POSITION: The player assumes the identity, His skills stay the same all through the game. TEAM MODE: 2 players can team up against the computer or 2 other players. 3rd player (Joystick 3 (with adaptor)) in team with player 1 4th player (Joystick 4 (with adaptor)) in team with player 2 1 Player only: Player 1 controls TEAM A with joystick no.1 2 Players: 2 players can play in TEAM or against each other player 2 uses joystick no.2 3 Players: 3 playes can play in TEAM MODE e.g JOY.1 and JOY.3 against JOY.2 4 Players: 4 players can play only TEAM MODE e.g JOY.1 and JOY.3 against JOY.2 and JOY.4 PLAYER CONTROL MOVEMENTS: The player moves in all 8 directions. HEADERS: The player can jump to head the ball by pressing the fire button when the ball is above the player. BLOCKING TACKLE: The purpose of this is to get the ball from another player, tackling from behind is a FOUL. SLIDING TACKLE:This tackle can be done from any direction. A sliding tackle on an opponent without a ball is a FOUL. Press the fire button to do a sliding tackle. SCISSOR KICK: Reverse the direction of the joystick when the ball is in the air for a scissor kick. BALL CONTROL DOUBLE DRIBBLE:The ball travels in front of the player. The distance it travels depends on the speed of the player on contact. SHOOT BALL: Press the fire button After touching the ball will shoot the ball in the direction of the player. STOP BALL: Press the fire button before touching the ball will stop the ball and give the player total control. PASS BALL: You must stop the ball before you can pass. Keep the fire button pressed and move the joystick in the direction you wish to pass and release the fire button. CHIP BALL: If the ball is on the ground,reversing the direction of the joystick will chip the ball. AFTER TOUCH: This option can be activated in the OPTIONS it gives the player control of the ball after he has kicked it etc. KEEPER CONTROL DEFENDING A PENALTY: The keeper will move only when the player fires. The longer the keeper hold down his button the further the keeper will jump. REFER TO ABOVE FIG.1 A - Hard ahead B - Hard left C - Hard right D - Medium left E - Medium ahead F - Medium right G - Soft left H - Soft right J - Soft ahead SET PIECES CORNER KICKS: Selecting the type of corner kicks, there are nine different types. The selection box is the parts of the ball the player will kick. kicking the ball,at the bottom lifts ball to bar height. ,in the middle takes the ball at mid goal height. ,at the top of the ball keeps the ball at lew height. ,away from the goal curls the ball inwards. ,straight keeps the ball straight. ,towards the goal curls the ball away. To alter the strength of the kick, the longer the fire button is kept down the harder the kick and vice versa. TAKING A FREE KICK: The ball is placed where the foul occurred. A few yards away on the side of the ball stands a player from the team taking the free kick. If two players are in team mode,the main player takes the free kick and the other controlled player stands on the side nearest the goal. REFER TO THIS FIG FOR BELOW LETTERS. THROW IN: The computer automaticaly takes a throw in unless the player assumes control if the joystick is in the 5 forward positions the ball will be thrown a long distance or if it is in the 3 back positions it will go a short distance. SUBSTITUTIONS: You are allowed 2 subs in a match.THE KEEPER CANNOT BE SUBSTITUTED.
