Galahad of Fairlight Presents an AGA fix for -------------------------------------------- Fire n Brimstone from Microprose/Firebird ----------------------------------------- Originally cracked by Conqueror of Defjam/CCS/Accumulators ---------------------------------------------------------- Here is another in a long line of good games that lay forgotten about by many people. I did intend to do this fix a long time ago, but one of the files on the disk was shagged, I tried it again, and this time the disk drive could read the file! Strange, but never the less, it is now fixed. Problems: --------- 1) Loader wasn't great at loading at all! This is solved as a by product of me making it all ram resident, and thus hard drive installable. 2) Fmode problems 3) Caches needed disabling 4) 17+ Blitter waits needed to be put in 5) 2x Stupid colour register routines. They looked like this: LEA $DFF180,A0 MOVEQ.L #32-1,d0 ALL_BLACK: CLR.L (A0)+ <------ Should be CLR.W DBRA D0,ALL_BLACK and the other one LEA $DFF180,A0 LEA COLOUR_MAP,A1 MOVEQ.L #32-1,D0 COPY_COLOURS: MOVE.L (A1)+,(A0)+ <------ Should be MOVE.W DBRA D0,COPY_COLOURS Any who knows anything about the colour registers on the Amiga, they range from $DFF180 - $DFF1BE, the above routines will copy the colours beyond that range and up to $DFF200. The programmer is using a Longword index when it should have been a word index! Simple little things like this make a game fall over on its face! As a by product of me making this game ram resident, I have also fixed a bug in the original crack. The cracker must have been short of memory when trying to load the files, and the decode data for the loader was overlapping some of the screen graphics, so at the bottom of the screen would be some corruption. This is now fixed! If you have any AGA fix requests, why not call SPACED OUT or any other major UK BBS. For all of those that are wondering why I haven't done any Quit to DOS versions on some of the fixes of late, no-one seems to want them, so unless its a game that would really benefit from it (to save data to hard drive etc) then I wont bother. Signed Galahad of Fairlight P.S. This is NOT a Fairlight release! END
