SABRE TEAM - REFERENCE GUIDE AMIGA A1200 GETTING STARTED: Before loading the game, please check that the following items are also contained within this package: . The SABRE TEAM manual . The COPY PROTECTION card . Five SABRE TEAM double density (88Ok) disks The manual included in your package was written as a universal guide for Sabre Team on all computer formats. All other information for the Amiga A1200 version, is described within this reference guide SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: To play SABRE TEAM you will need an Amiga A1200 computer and a mouse A Hard Drive with at least 5 Megabytes free space (OPTIONAL) Up to 3 external floppys are also supported (OPTIONAL) INSTALLING SABRE TEAM: To INSTALL Sabre Team onto A HARD DRIVE load WORKBENCH and insert the Sabre Team Disk 1 into drive DF0 then click with the mouse pointer on the disk icon called "SABRE TEAM DISK 1", a window will open containing 2 icons. Select the "INSTALLHD" Icon to start Hard Drive installation and follow the on screen instructions. Select the README icon for instructions on running the game from Hard Drive, after the installation is complete. RUNNING SABRE TEAM: To load and play SABRE TEAM please follow the steps outlined below. 1. Boot your conmputer as you normally would. 2. Insert SABRE TEAM Disk 1. 3. The game will now automatically start loading, you will be prompted on screen to insert additional disks when required. 4. The Krisalis logo will eventually appear, followed by the title screen and then the credits, to skip these press your left mouse button. 5. A screen will now appear giving you the choice of EASY, NORMAL or HARD difficulty settings. To choose one of these press the approprate function key (F1, F2 or F3). 6. At this point a screen will appear, giving you the choice of five languages. Press the appropriate function key (F1 to F5) to select. 7. The next screen will be the COPY PROTECTION screen. This displays a picture of a GUN together with various STATISTICS. Have your brown COPY PROTECTION card to hand, this is used to identify the correct statistics for the type of GUN currently shown. Enter each statistic for that gun by placing the mouse pointer over the appropriate box icon next to it then press the left mouse button to select (the box will then be highlighted) To deselect click on another box icon until the correct one is highlighted. When all statistics have been selected place the mouse pointer over the gun picture and press the left mouse button to proceed. NOTE: A gun will be randomly selected each time the game is loaded, this wil be highlighted by a small box icon next to its description. At the top of the screen. If the incorrect statistics are entered for the gun shown then the protection will fail and the DOS prompt will appear. Please try again. 8. The game is about to start, the first Mission overview, will appear please read your mission objectives before proceeding. 9. Following the Mission overview are a few intro screens. 10. When the GAME SETUP MENU appears you have two choices: 1. QUICKSTART GAME - Use A PRESET Sabre Team. Please refer to the QUICKSTART section contained in this guide. 2. NORMAL START - Choose your own Sabre Team Please refer to the SABRE TEAM game manual for instructions LOADING/SAVING/QUICKSTART LOADING SAVED GAMES: You can LOAD a saved game from the GAME SETUP MENU or the GAME TURN MENU. (Please refer to your game manual for a description of these two MENU`S). To LOAD a saved game insert the disk you SAVED the game onto into drive DF0 and place the mouse pointer over the LOAD GAME icon and press the left mouse button. The saved game will now load from the disk QUICKSTART: Once the game has loaded select the DEPLOY icon on the GAME SETUP MENU using the mouse pointer and then press the left mouse button You will now enter the first mission (EMBASSY SIEGE) with 2 PRESET Sabre Team members equipped with the best Weapons and ready to be deployed. Please refer to the SABRE TEAM game manual for instructions on playing the game. Remember that these 2 team members are far from optimal they are merely provided to allow you an easy introduction to the game. SAVING GAMES: You can SAVE the game either after you have initially chosen and deployed your SABRE TEAM at the very beginning of a mission or after each enemy turn from the GAME TURN MENU To do this insert the disk to SAVE to (this must be a FORMATTED disk) into drive DF0, position the mouse pointer over the SAVE DISK icon and press the left mouse button to start saving. When the SAVE is complete you will be prompted to insert a game disk. NOTE: A game must be saved to a formatted floppy disk even when playing the game from a hard drive QUITTING THE GAME: When playing a mission you can QUIT the current game at any time by pressing the ESC key once This will take you back to the Mission overview screen (After the game has completed any current task) prior to selecting your team. If you wish to restart from the title screen (before DIFFICULTY and WINDOW selection) then press ESC once on the GAME SETUP MENU. TURNING MUSIC ON/OFF: Pressing the function key "F10" during a game will toggle the background music ON or OFF. Please note that the Sound Effects will remain on at all times.
