MP3 has become a huge thing on other platforms, but on the Ami it doesnt exsist. Yes there is MP3.lha on AmiNet from CStar, but have you tried and used it? Yea it sux! So heres the deal, a little practice for me to turn into a future BillGates but support the Amiga no matter where she goes, and support the mind and pockets of the coders that help the Amiga so much. This is just an idea for now, its not rock solid yet. I am willing to hold a little competition/contest for the development of a MP1/2/3 player / converter + *MIDI player. I am willing to reward the coder of the best proggie with either a cash sum of $50.00 usd or a 60ns 16meg 72pinn simm. If I get more than 5 coders that are serious (Must show proof) then I will up the prizes to $100.00 usd or a 60ns 32meg simm. Now you are asking well just MP1/2/3 + MIDI right? Well below is a paragraph of what I would like to see. *ASM code or C code. *MUI or GadTools for the GUI. *Must be able to play MP1/MP2/MP3 + MIDI, also in RealTime as option. *Support AHI for those with the SoundCards so 16bit - 44.1 can be heard. *Play in 14-bit mode for those without SoundCards. *No bloatware, must be as small as possible and optimized. *030/040/060 versions must be availiable. *Must have nice install and be idiot proof. *Minimum system must be 030/25 + FPU and 8-16megs ram, w/VMem option. *If using MUI it must require the latest ver and use the new options. *Must be able to run in CyberGraphics/Picasso96 screens. *Run as fast as possible with low CPU uasge and mem usage *Must use the FPU, DUH its only added speed =) *Must use Original Amiga native code, no ported Unix/Linux/etc code! *Hopefully be supported, and ported to ABox or next Ami platform. *Must have a PlugIn type system for future sound formats like MP4. I will be putting out another text file soon with the names of all the coders that are up to this challenge and the config of machine they are using plus other info about the coder like what language they have chosen and what GUI etc.. I know a MP3 probably cant be played in RealTime with a 030/25, but who knows you might have the magic algorythm. Also I get full rights to the program as a 60/40 owner of it, the coder has the 60%, all that means is that if you decide to stop development of the proggie both of us pick who the sources get passed to, or if a big company wants to buy the program we both make the contract and split the money 60/40, me getting 40%. Also for every $10usd you charge in register price I get $2, hehe it isnt much but hey, i have beer money =) So right now this stands. -$50usd or 16meg 60ns 72pin simm to be rewarded 3-4months from the time the next txt file comes out with the coders names/data in it. -Possibility of being up'd to $100usd or 60ns 32meg simm if great intrest in shown from more than 5 coders, (must show proof). -MUST HAVE AT LEAST 4 CODERZ WILLING TO PARTICIPATE!
