Tempest X for PlayStation was one of these projects that has been bought by Interplay. Tempest 2000 was one of the finest games to be seen on the Jaguar. The PlayStation update of Jeff Minter's masterpiece is very faithful, but adds even more psychedelic imagery and high speed action. To truly understand the speed of the game it must be seen in action. The game has a textured, light-sourced web as opposed to the color cycled webs in the Jaguar and Saturn versions. The game also has new explosions and text effects, all of which use transparency in addition to some of the pixel-shatter effects that were made famous on the Jag. Tempest X has several play modes including a Classic version with the original simulated vector graphics. There is also the Tempest Dual mode that allows for head to head competition between two players. For any Tempest fan, this game from Interplay and High Voltage Software is potentially the most fun you can have.
