Short FAQ: ---------- Q: I want to start PlayGUI from ToolManager/Amidock/Opus/Shell etc. but it doesn't work? A: well, no problem: Copy 'gui' and 'gui4cli' from the PlayGUI archiv to C: You can always start PlayGUI via Shell (and you have to do this aswell if you want to start PlayGUI from toolmanager or similiar) by typing: C:gui4cli DH0:music/PlayGUI where 'DH0:music' is just an example of course, you have to give the path of where you have PlayGUI installed on your HD. Q: I want to snapshot PlayGUI - but how? A: Also no problem: Activate the PlayGUI window (by clicking on it) and then press CTRL+G. A window will appear asking you save the GUI - simply click on Save. Q: If I press Play after selecting a mod, Hippoplayer doesn't play it and freezes. Why is that?:( A: Well, there can be several reasons: - Be sure to have the CORRECT Hippoplayer.prefs and all the stuff you need in the specific directories. It depends on the version of Hippo. That's why there are new soundprefs included. It's simple: If you use Version XYZ of Hippo you need the prefs of exactly that version XYZ correctly installed first!:) If Hippo plays your Mods correctly, PlayGUI should aswell. - Maybe hippo crashed :( - You may have a faulty RUN command in C: Try another one! - Of course it could be PlayGUIs fault also, but that never happened to me...if it happend to you and your hippo-config is correct, please tell me about the bug, you have found by sending an e-mail to @{"me!" LINK "4"};) Q: Sometimes I get weird symbols in the commentary:( A: There's something left in the clipboard. Just press 'Clear'.:) Q: The skins look awful!:((( A: Buy a graphics-card and set colors to 8bit 256 colors or higher;)) (or try AGA 256 - but that's damn slow!) Q: DigiBoosterPro mods don't work or sound bad! A: You need Dbplayer.library in LIBS:, which comes with Hippoplayer. For better quality you need to configure hippo to use 14bit. You may have to calibrate your system to 14bit sound using Cybercalibration first. Q: I can't drag'n'drop MP3s, MIDI files or samples to PlayGUI. Why is that? A: Currently PlayGUI only allows MODs to be drag'n'dropped. (Although PlayGUI will try to play a MP3 and a sample through Hippo - so it generally works, but as it is Hippo playing, your PlayGUI settings concerning Play16, MPEGA or GMPlay will be ignored) Q: Sometimes when I play a sound-file and I want to choose an option from the menu, there's no response, only when I choose the menu-entry again, it works. Why? A: This might occure sometimes because of the timer. You can try to switch it off from the 'Options' menu. This will help. Q: What is that 'Personal Volume' good for? A: You can define a certain degree of volume here. This might come in handy, if you want to reduce the volume of a, say MOD file, to 50% using a quick and single shortcut. It's easier this way than having to use the slider all the time.:) Q: What is the Commentary option good for? Is it a Playlist? A: No it isn't a playlist (use PLone, a great PlayGUI Plugin that gives you a cool Playlist and more) but it is meant to be a commentary function. So you can edit a commentary using ed and save it to a dir, where you can store all your comments on a song. Then you can load it in from this place into the commentary window. So, nothing special - it was just a funny idea of mine to be able to write some comments. (Tip:Name the comments exactly like the song, f.ex. if you have a song called lovesong.xm then you could save the comment as lovesong.txt and load it in while playing the song to see what you thought about that one some years ago;) Q: I cannot rewind or forward MPGs! A: It is currently not implemented Q: Does PlayGUI support UAE? A: Well, I have tested PlayGUI on WinUAE 0.8.16 R4 and it works perfectly.
