| GLOBAL HELP | |
| The Amiga's help system is a very good one but unfortunately not used very often. This is a pity since it was made to store all your guides and help-files in one directory of your language, which exists in SYS:Locale/Help/. This way it is a lot easier to find old documentations of programs. Using the great MagicAsl and WorkON you can also search within the requester by typing the first letters of the guide. Using WorkOn's HELP-section you will maybe finally start to use the LOCALE directory, because now, copying and reading HELP-files, guides and docs is really a doddle! Remember the HELP-section image? All you have to do is to drag'n'drop a guide or doc on the HELP-section window. Then a requester will ask you, to which location you want to copy the file. You can then press HELP and it will be copied to your default help directory, which you have defined in the WorkON config. In most cases, this will be your own language, but what if you like to copy german guides to SYS:Locale/HELP/german? Well, no problem. In this case press SELECT and you will get this window (see picture) and you will be able to directly copy the guide to the desired place. |

|
But you can also read a guide in a comfortable way. Just click on the HELP-section image/window
and a requester will appear, that lets you choose a guide or doc in your LOCALE directory. The
requester will show you the path of the LOCALE path, that you have defined in the WorkON config.
Now, just select your guide or search it by typing the first letters.
You can now show the guide with Mulitview (which must be in SYS:Utilities/Multiview) or your select 'own',
which is the viewer, you have choosen in the WorkON (System/dir) config. (See picture of the requester
asking you which viewer you want to use). Easy, isn't it? Well, just try it out!:)

| More features... |
| But there's a hidden feature. If you activate the HELP-section window by clicking on the dragbar, you can press the right mousebutton for a tiny menu, in which you can also select to show a guide or delete a file in the LOCALE dir. Just select delete and a requester will open. Choose a guide, you want to delete and it will be deleted after a requester popped up, asking you, if you are really sure.:) |
