It's the second BETA release of the RTG version of ASM-One. The most noticable difference between V1.41-RTG and this release is that the Editor is now fully functional without any real hazards. Also I added full cursor/special-key functionality to most instances of the CLI. The only two major things that don't work in the Editor are: 1) Highlights (block marks, etc.) 2) Linenumbers Besides these two there is a host of little things that still need fixing. But I recon that this version will enable you to almost work normaly. Other known problems/bugs are listed hereafter. Mailing me about problems with the CLI, Debugger or Monitor will not make much sence since I haven't work on them yet. Problems/Bugs etc. CLI --- - A Return will NOT clear the screen - Sometimes the text in the CLI may contain rubbish - Sometimes a return is not given and no prompt (>) is displayed. But commands will be exectuted if given !! - When assembling some lines are skipped. - You don't have full cursor/special-key functionality all the time. Editor ------ - Highlights (black marks, etc.) are not displayed - Linenumbers Note: When you first jump into the Editor some variables are not yet set correctly. Press ESC again to go out and into the Editor again (or switch between another source and the current source). This will only happen when jumping into an empty source. Note 2: The cursor disappears when scrolling down or up per line beyond the visable source. Debugger -------- - Registers are shown as a messy bunch on the botom of the screen - There is no highlighted bar so you can't see where you are General speaking: I had no time yet to look at the debugger at all. All Gfx that are displayed are displayed with the same routines as used by the Editor or the CLI, that's why things are printed on the screen. Monitor ------- - Is not visible at all General speaking: Just like the Debugger, only it uses completely different routines to display stuff on the screen. General working --------------- ASM-One functions as normal. Assembling and all actions you do will do what they should do (just like the normal v1.42 release). The only things that are not working correctly are the screen printing routines. What may happen is that after a action in the CLI the prompt doesn't return. You can press RETURN to get it, or you can simply type a command and press RETURN to execute it. Requirements to run this version -------------------------------- Be sure you have at least a 020 and KS/WB 3.x. I had some lock-ups with KS/WB 3.1, which disappeard after installing KS/WB 3.5. I previously thought the lock-ups where caused by my Buster rev.9, but it seems to be a softare problem after all B-) Never the less, this version will NOT work with KS/WB 2.x or lower !!! (note that ASM-One doesn't yet check if you have KS/WB 3.x !!) I also didn't test this version on another CPU. So an A2000 with KS/WB 3.0 may give problems. I've tested verious screen settings (from PAL HiRES to CGX 1152x900 in 16 bit and 800x600 in 24 bit) and they all worked fine. Extra REMARK ------------ Since this is just a beta version and you probaly hate to save setting for this version of ASM-One over your actual settings, the settings have been renamed to: ASM-OneCGX.Pref What's next ? ------------- Ofcourse I will do my best to address the problems as soon as I can. However, normal development of ASM-One also continues which may slowdown development a little bit. I try to address problems on a per functionality basis: Editor/CLI/Debugger/ Monitor, and in that order. In also have decided to (for the time being) supply the RTG version seperate of the normal version of ASM-One. Normal development will however always be for BOTH versions since I have only one source. But people using the normal version of ASM-One will miss out on all the RTG enhancements. But in return they get the fastest assembler around B-) Grtx Re/\/\co aka Boushh of TFA, Artists with an Attitude P.S. Be sure to buy AmigaOS 3.5 TODAY !! Besides the load of enhancements, fixes and extra's, you also support the developers of the AmigaOS. If you have a hart for the 'Classical' Amiga, then DON'T just copy the OS or spread it: BUY IT !!!!
