1. Introduction
--- - - - - - - -- - >

StartUpChoice is very powerful and very nice bootselector. A bootselector
is a program which allows user to select the program/script/game he wants to
   run at startup.

StartUpChoice has timeout feature. For example, when timelimit exceeded,
Workbench will be automagically loaded. Useful, if you run BBS Software or
something. StartUpChoice has also waitvalidate function, which means that
timer will be paused when hd is validating and after validation timer will
   start counting again.

There are many bootselectors available, but this one is the best!

2. Requirements
--- - - - - - - -- - >

   - An Amiga with an operating system v2.04 or above!

   - You can fully use it without mouse!
   - You can still use it without keyboard!!
   - Tested with Enforcer!
   - It's FreeWare!
   - VERY easy to use!

4. Installation
--- - - - - - - -- - >

   1. Copy StartUpChoice to C:
   2. Copy StartUpChoice.cfg to S:
   3. Copy Startup-Sequence.example to S:
   4. Copy documentation wherever you want.

   5. Rename your old S:Startup-Sequence to S:StartWB.
   6. Rename S:Startup-Sequence.example to S:Startup-Sequence.

   7. Look at S:Startup-Sequence. Edit it to suit your needs.
   8. Look also your old startup-sequence, now called S:StartWB.

REMOVE AT LEAST THESE LINES FROM S:StartWB: (and put them into new startup-sequence)

      1. 'C:Setpatch QUIET '
      2. 'Makedir Ram:ENV Ram:T Ram:Clipboards '
      3. 'Assign ENV: Ram:ENV '
      4. 'Assign T: Ram:T '
      5. 'Assign Clips: Ram:Clipboards '

And now, we must configure StartUpChoice! Keep on reading..

5. Configuration
--- - - - - - - -- - >

Load S:StartUpChoice.cfg to your favourite text editor or Press
   'Settings' button on StartUpChoice.

Look at the first line. There should be number 5. That means
the timeout value. If time runs out, startupchoice starts to
execute the program/script/game that you have for F1-button.

And at line 2 is text editor, which will be launched when you press
'Settings' button. You can put parametres in that line too. Here you can
see command lines for Ed, GoldED and CygnusED:

      C:Ed (Ed)
      GoldED:GoldED (GoldED)
      Ced -KEEPIO (CygnusED)

Third line... Logfile! Leave this empty if you don't want logging.

Look at next line. There should be 'Workbench'. That's the label
   for F1-button!

Below that line, on line 5, reads 'Execute S:StartWB'. That's the
script/command for F1-button. This script/command will be executed
when user clicks F1-button with mouse, or if user presses 'F1' key on
   keyboard, or if timelimit exceeds!

On line 6 there is text 'Shell'. That's the name for F2-button!

On line 7 there is text 'Execute S:StartShell'. That's the script/
   command for F2-button!

On line 8 there's text for F3-Button.. etc.. etc..

   Got it? Easy!

NOW YOU HAVE TO EDIT THIS CONFIGURATION TO SUIT YOUR NEEDS!
AFTER THAT YOU HAVE TO SAVE THE CHANGES!

THERE IS ALSO SOME EXAMPLE SCRIPTS! LOOK AT THEM TOO!

That's it! Let's now have a look at usage.

6. Usage
--- - - - - - - -- - >

StartUpChoice is very easy to use! If you have installed and configured it,
just reboot the computer! BUT NOT YET! Read first! :)

*** LOOK AT THE SCREENSHOT THAT COMES IN THIS ARCHIVE! ***

When your Amiga boots up, you can see StartUpChoice's window in the middle
of the screen. You can see timer and buttons. Click F1 button. Now you have
launched your Workbench (Or something else, depends on your configuration).

If you want to reconfigure StartUpChoice, click the 'Settings' gadget
(Or press 's'). Your text-editor will be launched and you're able to edit
   S:StartUpChoice.cfg.

If you want to pause the timer, click 'Timer Running/Timer Paused'-cycle
gadget or press 'p'. Click or press again if you want timer running again!

If you want to reboot your Amiga, click 'Reboot'-button or press 'r' key!

If HD is validating when StarUpChoice is started, it automatically stops
timer until HD is validated. You can use all buttons normally when waiting
   validation to stop.

That's it! Simple and nice, isn't it? :)
