So I also found the great little utility PRAW2TGA realized by STRUCTURE/THE IMMACULATE HOOD, but this one didn't offer lots of flexibility, that is why I decided to create a GUI tool to looking for RAW images. SearchRAW will help you to Convert Raw image to TGA, but also to extract raw blocks from very large files. @ENDNODE @NODE "System" @{b}@{fg shine} ********************************************************* ***************** SYSTEM REQUIREMENT **************** ********************************************************* @{ub}@{fg text} All you'll need is an AMIGA (Seems to be alright...). The prgram should be totally OS friendly, but there appears to have some conflicts with some other AMOS progs running as the same time (Probably because of the AMOS_Switch....), So try to avoid running several AMOS programs at the same time. As the prog uses the MARVELOUS GUI_Extension for AMOS, the prog can be opened with its own system screen. NB: for a cumfortable use, the screen must support a 640*480 screen which is the MULTISCAN resolution with 16 colours for the greyscale preview of the image. @ENDNODE @NODE "Features" @{b}@{fg shine} ********************************************************* ***************** FEATURES OF SearchRAW **************** ********************************************************* @{ub}@{fg text} Basics functions of SearchRAW: * own screen mode (BUT it must support 640*480 16 colours deep screen, such as multiscan one) * greyscale display (always converting images to 8bit for optimize) * hunt images in 8bit, 16bit, 24bit * settable image size * variable pixel definition for fast research * convert to TGA format * Can deals with very large files i.e.50Mo (using pof functions) * extract raw blocks from these big files * use a viewer to display coloured TGA saved images. Internal functions of SearchRAW: * when you load a file, thanks to the size of the image, SearchRAW will automatically try to find the correct format of file (width, height and depth) * for the first installation, you be asked for the screen definition, then this screen will be used by default until tou reselect another one in the options. * as Praw2TGA doesn't convert (YET?) 8bit files as soon as you click on the Convert button for 8bit depth, SearchRAW will firstly convert the 8bit image to 16bit one and then convert it to TGA. * SearchRAW work with sequential system, so the drive is permanently moving on the disk, and if you move the offset pointer violently, you may cause damage to cd or HD support, so I implemented a pause system in SearchRAW when you change the offset so don't worry if display is a bit slow sometimes. The screen format and the load&save directories will saved in the preference file in 'S:' directory. So when you run the program it will load the screen defined in the preference file without asking you anymore. So to change the screen definition another time, you have to select this option from the menu. @{b}* Disk icon:@{ub} ������������ Load a file to work on. The file will be permanently opened until you quit SearchRAW, so that you can work on enormous files and search trough it thanks to the offset button. @{b}* STOP button:@{ub} �������������� As SearchRAW works with sequential files system, if you work on a CD and you suddenly eject it, SearchRAW won't find the file any more and will exit by itself, so you must STOP reading the file before you eject the CD. @{b}* Width and height:@{ub} ������������������� When a file is loaded, SearchRAW will try to find the appropriate image size by itself. This auto-dimension is rather efficient with TIM files. However you can use some common values on CX gadgets (256,320,512,640 for width and 240,255,480 for height). You can also use the slider to set uncommon values or directly enter them in little boxes under sliders. @{b}Width@{ub} is the most important parameter for searching because modify it will totally distort the image as each line will be shifted every line. A vertical white line represents the chosen width. If width is larger than SearchRAW screen, the line will be blocked on the right but when you will convert the image, the right width will be taken. @{b}Height@{ub} will just set the number of line to extract and to convert to TGA format. A white cursor on the left side represents the height limit As for the width parameter, the height might exceed SearchRAW screen, but when rendering the correct height will be used. Thanks to the white lines you select an area that will be converted after. @{b}* MODE CX:@{ub} ���������� Here you can choose between working on 8bit,16bit or 24bit images. As width and height, as soon as you load file SearchRAW will try to set the correct depth. Generally, if the size of the file like this - between 0 to 100Kb......... 8bit mode - between 100 to 400Kb....... 16bit mode - upper than 400Kb........... 24bit mode @{b}* PIXEL SIZE CX:@{ub} ���������������� Choose pixel precision between 2 and 8, choosing large pixels will speed up the display. When displaying image, SearchRAW will display the image with decreasing precision (8,4,2,1) so that you can easily test if parameters work fine. But each time you change width, image depth, the offset the image will be displayed with a starting pixel precision of 8. @{b}* Offset:@{ub} ��������� Sometimes some files are made of images but with unused bits at the beginning, so you may have to shift the image by changing the offset. The values show on the right side is the real value of the actual position in the file. So it can be very long if you work on large files. The cursor in the slider can be moved to adjust offset but for big files, it isn't precise enough. So you can use the arrows which are little displacements. @{b}* CONVERT button:@{ub} ����������������� Once you have selected an area, push this button to start converting and saving in TGA format. For 8bit images, as Praw2TGA does'nt convert 8bit images yet, SearchRAW will convert 8bit images to 16bit. If image size to convert is large, it could take several seconds to convert; during converting a image will appear to show that the program is active. @{b}* XTRACT button:@{ub} ���������������� When you are working on very large files, you can convert a little part of this file with the convert button, but you can also just extract a part of the file in RAW format thanks to this button. @{b}* VIEWER button:@{ub} ���������������� You can optionally give to SearchRAW a viewer to display the TGA saved image each time you have converted an image. If you don't select a viewer, the image won't be displayed. Don't forget that the viewer must support TGA format. Once you have saw the image you will have to retrun to SearchRAW manually with the left top icon on the WB bar. @ENDNODE
