Introduction

These days animated gifs are getting more and more popular to give internet pages a nice extra touch. For AWeb users these animations were just shown as the first image of the animation. Until now! This plugin for AWeb will decode and play (nearly) all gif animations on the world wide web making AWeb the Amiga internet browser which is able to show you the pages as they where meant to be!

Not only animations are supported, normal gif images are handled by this plugin as well. It will show them in a progressive manner, meaning that you can see images been build-up during their download.

Installation

To install the GIF decoder and AWeb plugin, double-click on the installer icon and follow all steps. After that you'll need to configure the AWeb browser settings to use the plugin for all standalone gifs and gif animations. This is made very easy by AWeb's ARexx capabilities. Just select your setup below and click on the install button (remember to do this after you installed the plugin).

AnimGIF settings installation

Set scale mode to:

0 No scaling
1 Enlarge width or height (the aspect ratio of the image will be as it was meant to be by the author of the image)
2 Reduce width or height (same as above, but now the size reduced instead of enlarged)

If you prefer to do the settings manually here's how it goes:

Requirements

This is what you'll need to be able to use this plugin:

Shareware

This plugin is shareware. The demo version is complete, but will display a message text over the second half of the animation reminding you that you haven't registered yet. I'm not trying to make a lot of money with this shareware fee, but I do want to support all new hardware (like Graphic boards and the PowerPC). Unfortunately I'm just a student and can't afford this hardware without your support. It's probably possible to crack the program and remove the message, just remember that this is illegal and how much better you'll feel having your own personal copy.

For more information about registration look here.

Known bugs

Known bugs in this release are: The Cybergraphics bugs seem to be Cybergraphics bugs only. When using e.g. the Picasso-96 system all works well.
