Welcome to SetAtapiSpeed by Elaborate Bytes! Copyright © 1995 Elaborate Bytes, Oliver Kastl GENERAL SetAtapiSpeed allows to adjust the access speed of the a4000_atapi.device, a1200_atapi.device, ad_atapi.device and tandemat.device. This is required because some CD-Roms are slower than others and because of timing flaws in different hardware designs. USAGE If you wish to adjust the speed of the atapi.device, type: SetAtapiSpeed name.device unit speed where name.device stands for the different atapi flavours and unit for the CD-Rom unit to be modified. Speed may be any value between 0 and 3, where 0 is the slowest and 3 is the fastest access speed. If you do not enter a speed value, SetAtapiSpeed will tell you your current setting. The default for the a4000_atapi.device is speed 3; for all other versions it is speed 1. If your CD-Rom works with speed 3 you should put a SetAtapiSpeed command in your user-startup file (with the QUIET switch set. E.g.: SetAtapiSpeed a1200_atapi.device 2 3) If your CD-Rom only works with a slower speed as the default, put SetAtapiSpeed in your startup-sequence before the CD-Rom is mounted. If you wish to use the CD32-Emulator put this line in front of the CD32 line in your startup-sequence, too. That's it!
