MagnifiCAD - a ShareWare drafting package for the Amiga.
   --------------------------------------------------------

   v1.0 (C)1995 by Anders Granli.

Version 1.0 (beta) is restricted to drafting and was released 15.06.95.

Introduction
------------

Welcome to the first version of MagnifiCAD. MagnifiCAD is a computer-aided
design (CAD) program, which allows you to produce drawings in 2D with the
help of a variety of tools.

Features:

o Full Intuition GUI with online help for all functions.
  o 10 different drawing tools.
  o Line Styles, Hatching, Colors.
  o Unlimited number of Layers.
o Unlimited number of entities in each layer.
o Supports .DXF files for easy exchange of data with other programs.
  o Symbols.

System Requirements
-------------------

MagnifiCAD requires:

o An Amiga with WorkBench 3.0 or above, and a 68020 processor.
Workbench 2.0 should also work fine except for a few things.

o about 500K free memory to run the program.

The size of the projects is limited only by how much free memory you have
in your Amiga.

MagnifiCAD has only been tested on an A1200, but should run ok on any
Amiga with the right WorkBench version and right processor (68020+).

It will use a math co-processor if one is available, but it is not
required.

Contact me to get a 68000 version if that is desirable.

Installation
------------

An Installer script is included in this directory. Just double-click on
the Install icon from Workbench, and follow the instructions.

The Installer script will add assigns to your User-Startup file.
"MagnifiCAD:" must always be assigned to the MagnifiCAD directory.

Copyrights

Limitations and Bugs
--------------------

MagnifiCAD is limited to drawing in 2D (drafting), but shall be extended
to 3D drawing when the 2D version is stable and works well.

Not implemented yet:

 o The Enclosure Mode

 o Polycurve.

 o Scale/Mirror transformations.

 o Line Weight.

Known bugs in 1.0:

o The program loses some memory each time it is run (3536 bytes).
   MemLib can't find it!

o When creating a new layer in the layer requester, the new layer is not
   highlighted (GadTools problem?).

o If the user zooms in many times, the screen update gets distorted.
   (Also happens with hatching).

o Rubberbanding not correct when entering coordinates by numbers.

o Panning doesn't work correctly in the middle of a drawing operation.

Next Version
------------

The next version (August 95?) will (hopefully) contain:

o Better (more) printing options (landscape printing, print selection).

o All tools mentioned in the manual implemented.

 o Requester for color handling.

o Topological levels (edit point, line or object).

 o Depth settings.

History (not much...)

Enjoy!

This is a rushed release because of the summer holiday, but I'll (hopefully)
be back in August with a new version with fewer bugs!

During the summer, I can only be contacted on my s-mail address.

And remember to report any bugs, problems, inconsistencies, wishes, etc.!
