This file contains last minute information that did not make it into the
first run of manuals.

Problems with DataTypes after installing Twist.
===============================================

There was a problem with the installation copying version 40 datatypes and
classes during installation, these do not work under version 39. The installation
now includes an option to fix this problem - you will need the 3.0 Workbench disk.

Workbench 1.3
=============

This version of Twist does not as yet work under Workbench 1.3.

Aminet Example
==============

The Aminet example uses lots of Twist 2 calculations, Workbench functions/commands and
ARexx scripts. The example is designed for use on 3.x machines but it will run under
2.x some features will not however work because they require Workbench 3. The FTP bit
of the example has been checked and is working when used AmiTCP version 3. If it works
for you, great, if it doesn't then thats unfortunate. We will not however enter into
any discussions concerning the setting up of AmiTCP due to its complexities.

Changes/Bugfixes from version 2.08
==================================

The rendering of the record form has been speed optimized (factor 4). 
The rendering of the list mode has been speed optimized (factor 2). 
Minor rendering errors in list mode has been fixed. (Sometimes the left margin had no vertial line and sometimes the right margin was not cleared)
An undefined number field was displayed as "Selected" in a check box. Fixed to "not selected"  
Bug fixed if a search in a related file with "F1" found more than one record. Now only the found records are displayed in the db window is opened
Search in indexed field with pattern like "li*david*" (more than one wild card) did not always find all records matching the pattern.
The Arexx commands REPORT ( = PRINT), MAILMERGE, EXPORT and IMPORT has a new option WHERE "<select expression>" 
The Arexx command REPORT no longer returns an error code != 0 if no records included.
If the first word in an editor field was double clicked the program entered an endless loop.
Ascii files produced by reports had CR + LF for newlines. Fixed to LF only.
The arexx script for displaying datatype objects in a separate window has been changed. No it also succeds the first time invoked
Sometimes when scrolling in record mode Enforcerhits in the input handler was reported. A bug in Twist that caused it has been fixed (changing a clipping region after it was installed).
Bug fixed that caused bombs when screen type was changed with open db windows.
After update/import etc a datatype object in the record form was redrawn even if in list mode.
Under certain conditions the "$current" macro did not access the current record if in record mode.
Pressing <return> in a record form field of type "editor" now ensures that the prev. line does not contain trailing spaces. Previous such a trailing space would make twist forget about the hard return when reformating the field.

GETATTR OBJECT/A,NAME,FIELD,STEM/K,VAR/K
RC=Error code
RESULT=String depending of OBJECT,NAME and FIELD unless STEM or VAR is used
Object=APPLICATION, PROJECTS, WINDOWS, PROJECT, WINDOW, FILE, FIELDS or FIELD
Name is name of project (APPLICATION, PROJECTS, PROJECT, WINDOW, WINDOWS, name of file (FIELDS, FILE)
or name of field (FIELD) depending on Object
If a STEM variable is specified Twist will create the vars VERSION, SCREEN, COUNT, CURRENT LEFT, TOP,

APPLICATION: NAME is the optional name of the project.
				 if FIELD == VERSION then the version number of twist is returned
			    if FIELD == SCREEN then the name of the screen twist uses is returned
PROJECTS:    NAME is the optional name of the project.
				 if FIELD == COUNT only number of projects is returned
				 else number of projects and their names are returned
WINDOWS:		 NAME is the optional name of the project.
			    if FIELD == COUNT only number of open windows is returned
				 else the number of open windows and the db-names are returned
PROJECT:		 NAME is the optional name of the project.
				 if FIELD == COUNT the number of open files in the project is returned
				 else if FIELD == CURRENT the name of the current db in the project is returned
				 else the name of the current db, the number of open files and the name of all
				 open files in the project is returned
WINDOW:		 NAME is the optional name of the project.
				 FIELD == LEFT, TOP, WIDTH, HEIGHT, TITLE, DIMS, SCREEN or not specified
				 LEFT is the db windows left edge on the screen
				 TOP is the windows top edge on the screen
				 WIDTH is the db windows width
				 HEIGHT is the db windows height
				 TITLE is the db windows current title
				 DIMS is the db windows minimum width and height and maximum width and heigt
				 SCREEN is the name of the screen the db window is openen upon
				 if FIELD is not specified all values are returned
FILE:			 NAME is the optional name of the file. Defaults to the current file.
				 If fieldtype == COUNT then the number of records is returned
				 else if fieldtype == SIZE the file size in bytes is returned
				 else buth number of records and file size in bytes is returned
FIELDS:		 NAME is the optional name of the file. Defaults to the current file.
				 if FIELD == COUNT then the only number of fields for the current file is returned
				 else the number of fields and the field names is returned
FIELD:		 NAME is the name of the field in the current file.
				 The field describtion string shown in the edit fields window for the given field. Format:
				 fieldname fieldtype (Txt, Flt, Int or Date) output format [NoEd] [Req] [Fix] [Idx | Idx(Eind.) | Idx(Ab) | Idx(Eind.,Ab)] [Cmpr | Virt] [V(<validation>)] [C(<calculation>]

CREATEDB FILE/A,FORCE/S
Prepares for a new file to be created. The CREATEDB command must be followed by a number of CREATEFIELD commands and the ENDCREATEDB command to actually create the file.

Adds a field to dbfile being created/changed.
FIELDNAME is the name of the field to create.
LEN depends on the field type. For text fields it defines the length of the field (Default 30). For other field types it defines the output format.
The default field type is TEXT.
VALID and CALC must be followed by a numerical expression string in doublequotes.

Changes the attributes of an existing field. Same syntax as CREATEFIELD.
Must be inside a CREATEDB/CHANGEDB and ENDCREATEDB/ENDCHANGEDB construct.


DELETEFIELD FIELD/A
Deletes a field.
Must be inside a CREATEDB/CHANGEDB and ENDCREATEDB construct.


DELETEFIELD FIELDNAME
Removes the field from the fieldlist.
Must be inside a CREATEDB/CHANGEDB and ENDCREATEDB construct.


ENDCREATEDB
Performes the changes made by the CREATEFIELD, CHANGEFIELD and DELETEFIELD commands. This command may take some time as all records has to be converted and index files must be rebuild.

Window commands

OPENWINDOW WHERE/K
Opens the window to the current database.
If the window already is opened it is topped and activated.
The WHERE keyword must be followed by a query string.


CLOSEWINDOW
Closes the window to the current database


MOVEWINDOW LEFTEDGE/N/A,TOPEDGE/N/A
Moves the window for the current database to the given position


SIZEWINDOW WIDTH/N/A,HEIGHT/N/A
Sizes the window for the current database to the given dimension


CHANGEWINDOW LEFT/N/A,TOP/N/A,WIDTH/N/A,HEIGHT/N/A
Moves and sizes the window for the current database. Only >= OS2


WINDOWTOFRONT
Tops the window for the current database.


WINDOWTOBACK
Moves the the window for the current database in the background.


ACTIVATEWINDOW
Activates the window for the current database. The window must already be open.


ZOOMWINDOW
Sizes the window for the current database to the minimum dimension


UNZOOMWINDOW
Restores the old sizes the window for the current database.


LOCKGUI
Locks the GUI (Graphical User Interface) until the UNLOCKGUI command is given. While the GUI is locked the database windows are not redrawn by ARexx commands that changes records, and the user can't interact.
If locked some ARexx commands may execute faster.


UNLOCKGUI
Unlocks the GUI. All windows is redrawn.
