FixLhA v1.0 by CircleSoft ========================= INTRODUCTION Has this ever happened to you? You have been sitting for hours downloading stuff from the net, putting it on disks, and carrying it home to your beloved Amiga, or maybe downloading it again with a modem, and when you try to unpack the first archive, LhA pops up with '...skipping corrupt/externous data' for every file in the archive! You try the next, and the same thing happens! And the next, and the next... And then you remeber: Oh, maybe I should have set the transfer mode to binary... If so, then this program might just be what you need! One night, after downloading lots of files with lynx, a WWW-browser that in it's infinite wisdom always downloads files in ascii mode (which I didn't know, until I tried to unpack...), I wrote the first version of this program in AMOS three o'clock at night... Later, when I finally got Sas/C, I wrote this version. This program has spared me a lot of suffering, so I thought I might as well release it. REQUIREMENTS - An Amiga with at least 8 meg ram and a 040 or higher processor. - Kickstart and WorkBench 3.1 - about 430 megs of HD space Nah, just kidding. ;) It should work on any Amiga. if it doesn't, then contact me. USAGE Now this is simple: Just enter "FixLha" followed by the names of the files you want to fix. The fixed files will have the name of the original file + ".fix". Check if they are okay before you delete the lod file, because I can't guarantee that they will be fixed. The program uses a bit questionable routines, but they seem to work for me. I haven't tried it on anything else than LhA-archives, but it may work on others, too. (Don't count on it...) KNOWN PROBLEMS ObjectArchive complains that the header is too short (it is!) but works anyway... Other programs than LhA might not recognize the archive, but nothing like that has happened to me. The best thing to do is to unpack the fixed archive, and pack it again. That way any funny things left in the archive by FixLhA will be removed. HISTORY v1.0 - First public release FUTURE - Maybe an ASL filerequester - Options... If you have any ideas, contact me. COPYRIGHT This is Public Domain. Do what you want with it, except feeding it to your cat. if you're the author of a shareware program, and you REALLY want to thank me (can't imagine why...) then send me a registered version of your program. That's asking too much, is it?
