CEOL v2.00 ---------- Written by Jaime Araiza ©1995 Eternal Illusions Disclaimer Sorry for my mistakes, but my native language is spanish... :) This program does not garantee your equipment for any damage (logical or physical) for using it, however, I have used and tested this program in search of any trouble and I haven't had one, but I can't be responsible of any trouble/damage (Only fix bugs, but not obligatory :) This program is Freeware, which means that you can copy/use it whe you want to do it, but it is NOT public domain, so, you can't modify the archived file, neither the files in it. The program is copyright of its author (Me! :) Introduction This is the second version of 'CEOL' and was rewritten from the scratch, and contains NO part of the first one. This wasn't intentional, due to a loss of a hard drive with my source of the first program in it... :( - What is CEOL? It means 'Change End Of Line'. The 'End of Line' (From here, EOL) is the character to make a line feed. In the Amiga, EOL mark character is only one, while in PC there are two characters. One of them on PC is the same on Amiga, so the line feed is done, but one character remains as unknown, and usually it can appear as a rare ASCII code (depends on which text reader/manager are you using) For an example, try to use 'TagLines' from a PC plataform in your mail reader/Tagline editor. - What this thing can do for me? Convert from ASCII-PC/ASCII-Amiga and from ANSI/Plain in almost any combination (except Plain->ANSI) in one pass. Requirements An Amiga computer :) KickStart 1.3 or better (Some changes in better KS) ReqTools.Library or ASL.Library (Req.Library in process) Not tested in KS 1.2 Not tested in A4000 Distribution There are two versions: 1) CEOL2Short.lzx 2) CEOL2Compl.lzx If you have got the first one 'CEOL2Short.lzx' you should find: CEOL2 - The program itself (Kickstart 1.3+) English (Dir) - English documentation Español (Dir) - Spanish documentation Icons (Dir) - A set of icons for CEOL2 If you have got the second one 'CEOL2Compl.lzx' you should find: CEOL2 - The program itself (Kickstart 1.3+) ReqTools.lzx - Configurator for ReqTools.Library English (Dir) - English documentation Español (Dir) - Spanish documentation Devs (Dir) - A system configuration for KS 1.3 with KS 2.0 colors Icons (Dir) - A set of icons for CEOL2 Libs13 (Dir) - ReqTools libraries for KS 1.3 Libs20 (Dir) - ReqTools libraries for KS 2.0+ Since the program NEEDS 'ReqTools.Library' or 'ASL.Library', if you haven't got any of these, please use the complete version. Using the program |-------------------------------------------------------| | | QUIT | About | Prefs | | | |Test File| | | | | | Load | |##################| Type: |###############| | | | Save | |##################| Type: | Amiga | Plain | | | | |-------------------------------------------------------| |ASCII PC Cd: |############| | 0% |#############| 100% | |ANSI Codes: |############| | | Stop | | |-------------------------------------------------------| QUIT - Quit program About - A little information about the program Prefs - The prefs screen Load - Load a text file into memory Type - (The first one) When you have tested a file, in this gadget you will see the type of it Save - Save the file with the type you have specified Type - Here are two buttons. You can choose the type you want the file converted in. Test File - This is the most important button. With this, you can test the file to know what type is it. ASCII PC Cd - Each time the program find a PC EOL code, this value will be increased. (ASCII PC Codes) ANSI Codes - This will act in the same way like 'ASCII PC Cd', but this reacts to ANSI Codes. 0% - 100% - The percent of work that has been acomplished. Stop - Stop the running process. The 'Amiga' and 'Plain' buttons may be changed to 'PC' and 'ANSI'. If the examined file is 'Plain' (Without ANSI codes) you will not be able to change the button to ANSI, because you need a dedicated ANSI editor, and there is no way to know were you want ANSI characters. (There are many ANSI editors in the PD libraries) You can stop the process of testing a file for a quick examination, but it will not be an exaclty one, because there can be ANSI codes near to end of file, but it makes no sense to use ANSI codes only there, so there is a chance to the result to be true. Preferences |------------------------------------------------------------| | Requesters | AutoChoose | | |- - - - - - |- - - - - - | | | |ReqTools| | | No | | | | |------------| | | | ASL | | Extension | | | |- - - - - - | | | | REQ | | |_CEOL | | | |------------|------------| | | | | | | | |------------------------------------------------------------| | | Save | | Use | | Cancel | | |------------------------------------------------------------| o Requesters ReqTools - Use ReqTools.Library ASL - Use ASL.Library REQ - Use Req.Library (Not available... yet) o AutoChoose This option will change the buttons "Amiga' and 'Plain' to the same type of the file that has been examinated. It only was for debugging purpouses, but some users can find it useful :) o Extension Here you can type in the extension to be given to the name for save the file. Example: If the source name is: MyFile then the destination name is: MyFile_CEOL '_CEOL' will be used in the default settings, but you change it anything you like. You have 9 characters for this. o Save This option save the preferences file to 'S:' directory o Use This option makes the program to use you preferences, but not to save it. o Cancel The preferences will be the same to the last time you selected them. IMPORTANT NOTE: Due to a problem in Kickstarts 2.x, the preferences file are not the same than the saved for Kickstarts 1.3 and 3.x, which ARE compatibles between them. If the program find an error in the preferences file and your kickstart, a set of options will be presented to you. o Fix Fix the preferences file to function properly with you kickstart. o Delete Delete the preferences file. o Ignore Fix the preferences in memory, but not in the file. So, every time you load the program, the options will be shown again. History V1.0 - [12/Octubre/94] o First public release o CLI (Command Line Interfase) only program o The user MUST know the type of the file V2.0 - [28/Abril/95] o Rewritten from the scratch o GUI for Kickstart 1.3+ (Some changes if better KS is found) o Automaticaly detects file types (At least!! :) o Use ReqTools and/or ASL o CLI and Workbench compatible o First program (I think) in convert ANSI-Plain/Amiga-PC in one pass o Bug free!!
