GENTS: As some may know, I was previously involved with /X Design from it's origination with Mr. Mike Thomas (V0.9ß - V1.1u). Later I did design for Mr. Joe Hodge (V2.0 - V2.34). Mr. Hodge decided to go a totally different route with V3+ using the "Icons". I still believe this is "folly", creating some 500-700 tiny files being required to set up a complex BBS and fragmenting the "holy hades" of the poor SYSOP's HDs. NOW.....many CODERS are forced "choosing" between coding for S!X VS /X. Frankly this is silly. I REALLY DO HOPE that people enjoy all derivatives of Mike Thomas's original Ami-EXPRESS!! There is Spazm's, Sigma SEVENS!, Hodge's, and a 4th ASM in progress. YOU GENTS CAN DO EVERYONE A FAVOR !!!!!!! 1. Those using the V3+ icons theory with TOOLTYPES = Please make your code "multi-compatable. While S!X still does have BBS:COMMANDS/BBSCMD directory, S!X is not "programmed" to have any PATHS or DEFAULTS to this directory. Rather it uses the V2.3 /X of "Text Formating" in BBS:COMMANDS/bbs.cmd a. Some programmers already have the "insight" to code their Doors so their "info" icons can reside in: BBS:DOORS//.info ===OR=== b. If you want BBS:COMMANDS/BBSCMD/.info......PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR CODE "knows" to look there instead of just assuming that S!X (like /X) will do so. 2. PLEASE ***DO NOT*** do as some creating a number of sub-dirs for your "doors". Some folks have done this so they get credit for their GROUP. This is silly!!! ****EVERYONE**** involved with S!X Development is committed to the idea of "sharing". Nobody is going to steal your codes, as we will make certain you receive proper credit without such silly protections which only made installation and maintenace more difficult. ...make it easy...and YOUR EFFORTS WILL BE RESPECTED, YOUR NAME HONORED, PERIOD !!!!! a. S!X tried to use simple door names such as: BBS:DOORS/Logoff/Logoff.xim BBS:DOORS/TurboN/TurboN ***NOTE*** Following the above *2* ideas will greatly help insure that your "Door" will work with both S!X, /X, and other derivatives......."flexibility" means more folks will both USE and SEE your efforts!!! 3. S!X SYSTEM S!X has the ability to "auto-magically" replace internal commands using the new BBS:SYSTEM/ a. If your creation is really good, Sigma SEVEN! may ask it be used as the "DEFAULT SYSTEM REPLACEMENT"!!!! 1. Calypso (S!X Development) has already written and allowed several of his creations to be the "Default" 2. Mack LifeGuard just agreed to let TurboZ V2.0z be S!X's default for N & T Commands b. Sigma SEVEN! & S!X folks work with others......even the programmers and "coders" of other popular BBS systems sharing code, ideas, and 'tricks of programming'.
