* Upload images by FTP to ftp.funet.fi's directory /pub/pics/incoming.
Create a subdirectory "railways-countryname-type" for your images, E.g.
"railways-Finland-diesel". Upload maximum 10 files to one directory.
Please use small letters on filenames. Remember to set binary mode prior
to transfer. All uploaded files are invisible. Directories are also
invisible after creating, because our server caches directory names. But
you can still change to directory you just created.

* Please do not upload the files in main incoming directory, i.e. always
make a subdirectory. And please do not send pictures to
pics-adm@ftp.funet.fi, just an short email so maintainers know when to
check incoming directory.

* Every image uploaded MUST have the description as a separate ".txt" (or
".readme") file in clear text format without tables or listings. ISO 8859
charsets may be used in part but the description must be in English.
HTML-entities can sparsely be used, so use () characters around email
address.

* The author (photographer or company) must be listed in the file, and in
the corner of the image as well if possible. So, the last line of each
".txt" file is: "Photo by Firstname Lastname (fl@address.inter.net)".

* Uploader must have permisson from copyrigth owner of the picture for
uploading. If uploader is not the copyrigth owner, in ".txt" file must
read: "Uploaded by Firstname Lastname (fl@address.inter.net)".

* Maximum lenght of a description file is five lines including last line.

* Access files with URLs such as "http://www.funet.fi/index/railways/" and
"ftp://ftp.funet.fi/index/railways/". FTP access requires e-mail address
as FTP session password. All access is logged by the server.

* Use JPEG for all photos with image height of about 500-600 pixels for
horizontal images. Small icon images of each photo are generated
automatically by the server for HTML pages. Use only good quality pictures
with JPEG-compression of 15% and gamma-correction of 1.5.

* Images uploaded may be included on a CD version of the archive. Authors
hold copyright to their images, compilation copyright is held by archive
maintainer(s).

* After uploading the images, send a short email to pics-adm@ftp.funet.fi

* THANK YOU! (Last change Kimmo Kotimäki Feb 21 1998)
