1.0 Introduction
================

This is my third e-mailing of The Guide to Adventure news and other
interesting stuff. I do not plan to send many of these messages/updates out.
I figure about one every 4-5 months. If you would like to be removed from
this e-mail group, let me know.

It is hard to believe my last e-mail was a year ago. WoW!

This is not a 'real' mailing list (e.g. a majordomo). There is only one-way
communication from me to you. Sorry. If anyone can set one of those things
up, that would be great.

Yes, I know. Not much happening on the scenarios, world, story, etc.,
front. I have been too busy. There are three Alien Dawn scenarios sitting
right beside me waiting to be released. I just need to finish them. I have
been busy working on other projects for The Guide (see 3.0 Rumours). I will
also be releasing in the fall my Miniatures rules for 1/72nd WWII skirmish
wargaming. This will be a predecessor to fantasy-type rules.

The main reason for this mailing because, once again I am coming out of
retirement to run an event at Cangames in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. I guess
I should read the over rules :) (see 4.0 Facts)

I would like to set up a method to exchange ideas, scenarios, rules,
stories. You can send them to me and I will place them on my site. Any ideas??

I have completely revised the main TGTA site and made the download page
easier. I realize improvements are needed, but it is getting better. I have
also added a wargaming page. I really like the Advice and History pages.
Please check them out.

3.0 Rumours

The Game you have all been waiting for: Look for the upcoming computerized
The Guide to Adventure game. I will be posting screen shots and animations
on the web site. Sure.

4.0 Facts or In the Works
=========================

Conventions: I will be at Cangames on Ottawa Ontario Canada. I will run an
Alien Dawn event on Friday night, Sept, 19th. The Guide:Fantasy on Saturday
afternoon, and another Alien Dawn event on Sunday the 21st. So, if you are
in the area, come and check it out. Thanks. I will try be nice.

Miniature Rules: I am at the final playtest stage for my miniature rules
for WWII 1/72nd scale skirmish gaming. Of course, it will be posted on the
net for free.

Discussions: There is a discussion group at WEBRPG for the Guide. It is
really cool. Look under, Fantasy: Other. The URL is:

http://www.webrpg.com/?link=townhall/index.html

Newsgroups: I often look in rec.games.frp.misc. If you post in there, I, or
others RPG players will answer.

5.0 You've Heard This Before Dept.
==================================

Old Books: I found some old 4th edition books (only about 4 left). If
anybody wants a copy, let me know. You will see the old style of combat that
did not have the combat resolution table. Instead players called attacks and
defences, and a table resolved the to-hit. No dice rolling. It was okay but
lacked in certain areas.

Alien Dawn: Scenarios, scenarios, scenarios.
The Guide To Adventure: Fantasy: scenarios.
Okay you get the idea. There are tones of rules out there but not many free
scenarios or worlds. This is what I really want to do. Now that TGTA is out
I can concentrate on this scenario design and worlds. Some of the initial
world concept is on the new and improved web site at ftn.net.

Please feel free to pass on links to my web pages to other sites. I do not
want all this work to go to waste.

I don't mind talking about games and anything else. Just drop me an e-mail.
I have chatted with some really cool people.

Thanks very much for all the words of encouragement. This has been a big
project getting The Guide out there and some kind words make it worth while.
I realize that there are many good commercial games on the market, and many
free games offered through the internet. My game may appear antiquated, but
I believe it stands up to the best systems in the world.

Off to get the door... I wonder what is knocking.
