Opening
=======

This is my second e-mailing of The Guide to Adventure news and other
interesting stuff. I do not plan to send many of these messages/updates out.
I figure about one every 2-3 months. If you would like to be removed from
this e-mail group, or, if you know of someone who wants to receive
these updates, let me know.

Some players of The Guide have started to submit rule ideas. GREAT!!!
Keep them coming. I will post rules to newsgroups and FTP sites.

I am still looking for space (free :) for storage. If you have some,
let me know.

 New
=====

Releases: I have released Alien Dawn, edition 0.0. This is an Alien invasion
of Earth Game and the second in The Guide to Adventure series. Includes
modern combat, aliens, encounters, more rules, and equipment. Available in
WP 5.x and ASCII text. It is completely compatible with TGTA. In fact, TGTA
is a universal system and I am treating it as one.

Scenarios: The first one. Although small (an evenings play), it is the
beginning of things to come. Let me know what you are interested in:
Alien Dawn, TGTA, scenarios, worlds, campaign info, short one-night scenarios

Formats: I have released TGTA: Fantasy in WP 5.x, RTF, PS and ASCII text.

Cards: Available in 1024x768 GIF files and postscript. New vehicle combat
cards have been added. Cards are now release 5.2. By upgrading the resolution
of the cards, this should fix the wording/clarity problem.

** NEW ** Web Site: Since Dragonfire.net is both slow and unreliable, I
actually went out and got an ISP for myself. The new web site is GREAT!! I
have modified my freenet (bd097) web site to basically make it a gateway
to this site:

http://www.ftn.net/~meball/tgta.html

FTP Site: Again, dragonfire.net has not met expectations. I have mirrored the
FTP archive at dragonfire to funet.

ftp://ftp.funet.fi/pub/doc/games/roleplay/mirrors/TheGuide

This ftp site is very fast and reliable!

 Rumours
=========

Hard to Beleive: I found some old 4th edition books (only about 4 left). If
anybody wants a copy, let me know. You will see the old style of combat that
did not have the combat resolution table. Instead players called attacks and
defences, and a table resolved the to-hit. No dice rolling. It was okay but
lacked in certain areas.
(Alright.. this is left over from the last update. Sue me :)

 In the Works
==============

Alien Dawn: Scenarios, scenarios, scenarios.

The Guide To Adventure: Fantasy: Scenarios... :)

Okay you get the idea. There are tonnes of rules out there but not many free
scenarios or worlds. This is what I really want to do. Now that TGTA is out
I can concentrate on this scenario design and worlds.

Miniature Rules: I may also release my miniatures rules. Since TGTA combat
uses a miniatures style rule system, it really lends itself to miniature
play. Since I sold almost all my Ral Partha 1200AD miniatures, I will wait
and see on this one.

 The Strange

My web site at freenet has won web site of the day! Cool. They liked it not
for the style, but for the content.

I visited a gaming store and had a look as to what is out there. Not many
scenarios. I guess all the old AD&D scenarios are gone ?? Too bad, those
were some of the best scenarios written. Lost of Vampyre and cyper/cyborg.

Please feel free to pass on links to my web pages to other sites. I do not
want all this work to go to waste.

I don't mind talking about games and anything else. Just drop me an e-mail.
I have chatted with some really cool people.

Thanks very much for all the words of encouragement. This has been a big
project getting The Guide out there and some kind words make it worth while.
I realize that there are many good commercial games on the market, and many
free games offered through the internet. My game may appear antiquated, but
I beleive it stands up to the best systems in the world.

Again..check out the new web site - WOW WOW WOW.

Off to get the door... I wonder who is knocking.
