Replaces: util/misc/NewHomer.lha (UTENTI ITALIANI: vedere in basso) !!!README NOW!!! the old NewHomer_DATA.lha archive had a bad config file... it was stated into it that it was not complete, but maybe many didn't read!!! Now I've put a better .conf file (it was already there to be honest, but the installer didn't care about it) and set the installer to replace it. NewHomer - this is almost like the old Homer1.5/1.6 found on Aminet... but it has some more options and is totally RTG friendly (the old one had a bad zoom routine on truecolor screens). BRIEF INTRODUCTION: In case you didn't ever seen original Homer, this is a program that shows you an animation of Homer Simpson, that can talk, burp (ops! :)) and will change its mood while following the mouse pointer with his eyes. REQUIREMENTS: you could install it over the previous Homer installation if you already used it. But someone reported to have troubles this way, I suggest to download the file "NewHomer_DATA.lha" that contains a good set of samples from the american version and then install from scratch. If you already had a BIG list of sample you used together with old Homer (maybe they are almost the same of that collection) I suggest you to cut+paste the names from the old config file into the new one (see docs). Os V37 at least is required (v36 has too many bugs). I don't know if datatypes work under V37, so maybe the minimum sugge- sted is v38 (again do they exist under this version?? :) titlebar.image by Massimo Tantignone is NO LONGER REQUIRED (thanks to Massimo ;)). Homer will use it if found, though! Then you will require ONE sound.datatype and ONE picture.datatype: I suggest you to have at least WAVE, 8SVX and ILBM ones, if you don't have these, you can't use Homer... or you can convert the sound and gfx samples to the datatype you have. ;) The file HomerAnim.gif included in the archive is an IFF image despite its name... Oh, we're still on Amiga and no lame forced extension file-type recognition system... :)) NewHomerITA_DATA.lha is an italian version of the samples, but requires the v41wave datatype, or a wave dt that can play 16bit ADPCM wave samples (I think there's ONLY that datatype to play such samples on Amiga). INSTALLATION: double click on the provided installer icon, or just copy the content of this archive over the old Homer directory. Then you can edit (if you want) the NewHomer.conf file (see doc.) to add your own samples to the program. After doing this you _CAN_ delete the following files from the old Homer archive: Homer - Main program homer/libs/ (or LIBS:) - matrix.library and swazconfig.library unless some other program uses them... If you don't have Homer installed, or you don't want to loose time editing this file, then you can download my own data file (config + samples + iff picture) on Aminet and copy its content to the same directory. VARIOUS: see the included documentation inside for all the rest! BUGS: required cgx.library even if it didn't used it at all. This (update) prevented NewHomer from working on ECS/AGA only systems. Also, long paths deeper than two directories didn't work with the PROGDIR: tooltype. Now it has been fixed. ADDITIONS: Nothing interesting here, see NewHomer.guide if really interested. Per chi non ne avesse mai sentito parlare, questo programma mostra un animazione di Homer che di tanto in tanto parla, cam- bia umore e segue con gli occhi il mouse (e fa pure qualche rut- to :)) RICHIESTE Serve un set di sample, si può usare quello dato col vecchio DI SISTEMA: Homer se lo avevate già. Altrimenti occorre scaricare il file NewHomer_DATA.lha (contiene sample dalla versione americana dei Simpson) oppure NewHomerITA_DA.lha (contiene sample dalla versione italiana... conviene scaricarsi quello se state leggendo queste righe, mi sa, purtroppo sono 4.8 mega, beh su Aminet si può fare il resume apposta! ;) Dopodiché servono: un datatype WAVE per ascoltare i sample (uno qualunque per la versione americana dei sample, il V41 WAVE.DT per quella italiana, lo si trova su aminet util/dtype/wavdt41.lha e util/dtype/sounddt41.lha) un datatype ILBM (ma questo lo dava la Commodore insieme all'Amiga, stranamente...). La "tbi.class" non è più richiesta, ma se è presente al momento dell'avvio (è il caso di chi usa VisualPrefs) verrà usata ren- dendo il look della finestra + piacevole. BUGS: sembrano essere stati quasi tutti rimossi, se ne trovate ancora (spero proprio di no!! =) fatemelo sapere per favore!
