2. "No Right Click" Copy Protection Removed. Everything Is Now Available For Download.

By great demand the "No right click" protection has been removed from the entire site. This means that you can now right click any object on the site, and save it to your own computer. You are now also able to view my clumsy HTML code by the way ;-)

When The Commodore Billboard was launched in September 2000 the site only featured a fraction of the material that is available today. I was afraid that lamers would rip my material and use it on their own site. I added the no-right-click java script, to make it a bit more difficult to rip material.

The Commodore Billboard is now established as the biggest archive of Commodore marketing material on the Internet. This will hopefully prevent lamers from ripping material from my site in order to create their own website. Doing diffently would simply be too lame. But then again isn't that what lamers are all about? ;-)

3. Slightly Changed Rules About Submitting Material.

If you intend to submit scanned material you are now allow to send scans that are up to 300 KB as opposed to the previous limit 150-250 KB. This means

that double page adverts can now be upto 600 KB (duh?)

4. One New Australian TV-COMMERCIAL.

Yippee!! ;-) Who would have thought that only 3 weeks after the *huge* tv-commercial update, we would be blessed with one more BRILLIANT tv-commercial? HUGE (and I mean HUGE) thanks must go to Maurice Powell (maurice@powerup.com.au) from Australia for sending this great tv-ad to me. It's from 1983 and features parts of the "Are you keeping up with the Commodore?" song already featured on the site. It's much more "up-tempo" compared to the other tv-ads from 1982. This one was shown on Channel 7 is Brisbane Australia in 1983. As people record over and over on their video tapes, it's highly unlikely that we will be able to find more new video clips to include on The Commdore Billboard. The fact that this commercial made it onto the site is just incredible. Here's the full story copy & pasted from Maurice Powell's mail to me:

It came from a VHS tape made quite recently. A client of mine puts on a fashion awards night once a year, and has done so for at least 20 years now. Their awards nights are also recorded and then televised by a major broadcaster over here. Recently, my client brought into the office a stack of VHS tapes which were dubs of various awards nights since 1983. These VHS dubs were made by the television network and were struck from the original broadcast master tapes, so they were of a fairly high quality (for VHS anyway). On fast-forwarding through the 1983 tape I spotted the Commodore logo. I rewound back, and sure enough there was the Family Pack TVC. Being a Commodore nostalgia freak (and being particularly interested in this commercial because it was for the very same pack that my parents bought for me as my first computer!) I made a copy of the commercial for myself onto broadcast tape, and have kept it in my office for a few months waiting for an opportunity to make use of it.

Now, instead of telling the public this story, it's probably quite adequate to just say that it was taped off TV - wouldn't you agree?

The details are: Channel 7 in Brisbane (city), Queensland (state), Australia (country), in 1983.

And yes, Commodore did have other commercials on Australian TV. I don't remember them vividly, but I'm positive I've seen ads for the C64 and most definitely for the Amiga. I wish I had some Amiga ads on tape... maybe I'll come across some in my VHS collection one day. I'll be sure to let you know if I do!

5. Another recording of a TV-COMMERCIAL still excists. Please help me get it!

This is just frustrating. The C64c commercial in realplayer format (low quality) that is already featured on The Commodore Billboad, still excists on a video tape in America. It has been recorded from TV by Chris Ryan, who claims he still has the original tape. I've contacted him several times asking him to do a recapture, but to no avail. Please go to his (quite good actually) website at www.cryan.com and fill out his feedback form. Please tell him about The Commodore Billboard, and that you want him to do a recapture of the C64 commercial that is featured on his OWN website. His website features many old tv-commercials that are very amusing. For instance an old commercial for chips (not pc chips) starring talkshow host Jay Leno at a young age :-) Please help me persuade Chris Ryan to do a recapture (in VideoCD quality) of his C64c commercial. Thanks.

6. New Material Has Been Added To The Miscellaneous Section.

Malte Mundt (thunderblade@protovision-online.de) has sent me a nice picture taken in Vienna, Italy around 1987. It shows a tram / streecar with big C= Commodore banners. The tram / streetcar is covered with Commodore.

Alfred Das (adas@home.nl) has sent 2 good scans. One is a scan of an original Amiga Club membership card. This club was 100% endorsed by Commodore Netherlands. The text written on the back of the card has been translated by Alfred himself:

Upon presentation of this Amiga Club-card you will profit as Amiga owner in the Netherlands from exclusive privileges and unique offers, usually through your Commodore dealer. Hereof you will be timely and regularly kept informed. This Amiga Club-card is strictly personal AND tied to the Amiga of which the serial number is stated on the back.

Alfred has also submitted his own (used) ticket from the Amiga Show '90 held in Cologne Germany. Thanks for the material Alfred.

7. Two New Danish Amiga Adverts.

I managed to find some old Danish Amiga magazines from 1993. Here's I found two adverts that weren't part of my collection.

One of them is a two-page A3000 advert from 1990. It's clear that Commodore was aiming at the proffessional market with the A3000. Too bad none of you out

there will be able understand a word of this advert ;-) Unfortunately the adverts was printed askew - nothing I can do about it :-(

The other advert is from also from 1993 and features both the A600, A1200 and A4000.

8. New PC Advert Section Has Been Created.

I've also managed to find some old Danish PC magazines that had several adverts for Commodore's line of IBM compatible PCs. I therefore decided to create a new advert section featuring adverts for Commodore's PCs. Commodore made it big with their line of IBM compatible PCs. Commodore were constantly among the top-3 manufactores in the world until the crisis in the PC market in 1993, which made Commodore create a new company called "Commodore PC-Division" which would be owned and operated 100% by Acer. Commodore then went all out for the Amiga products that were still highly successful, but that couldn't make up the deficit from their PC production, and in 1994 Commodore closed down :-(

Currently the section only features 4 Danish PC adverts for 386 and 486 computers. Hopefully I'll be able to find more PC related material in major languages. Does anyone out there have brochures or adverts for Commdore's line of IBM compatible PCs??

9. New PC Brochure Section Has Been Created.

Malte Mundt (thunderblade@protovision-online.de) found this old German brochure for a PC-I computer with an 8088 processor runnning MS-DOS 3.2. I have therefore also created a brochure section for Commodore's IBM compatible PCs. Sadly the section only features this single brochure. Does anyone have material to submit?
