The full version of EZP@gerNG is available now. Contrary to the classic edition the full version
is also capable of sending short messages to mobile phones (SMS) directly beside many other additional
features.

SENDER V1.0 - AMIGA Program with Windows Touch
´SENDER´ is a small freeware program to move or copy any file to any directory from the Workbench.
It leans on the WINDOWS send menue, but uses a handy AppIcon.
´SENDER´ is easy to install (I just tried it successfully) and one can further configure it for his needs after
the basic installation.

Missing VMC-ISDN Archive Online now, too
Unfortunately by a little mistake the VMC-ISDN archive wasn´t copied to the
VMC server, which now was corrected and the new software was tested and is ready

fxSCAN SE No Longer Part of ScanQuix 5
RBM decided some time ago not to purchase serial numbers for fxSCAN SE versions
from us, any longer. As a result of this the at this time delivered and long before
produced ScanQuix CDs admittedly come with fxSCAN SE, but without a serial number
cause RBM no longer owns a license for these. Due to this we beg you to refrain from
asking us for free serial numbers, cause these were not payed by RBM and will not
be deliverd by us afterwards. Because of that fxSCAN from now only can be purchased
as a full version. Please, refrain from using serial numbers from other people, cause
this would be unlawful.

New Mroocheck Driver Version 15f21
For the PC mice adapter for Amiga, Mroocheck, a new driver version 15f21 was released.
The archive contains the freeware program "FreeWheel 2.1" by Alastair M. Robinson.
VMC-ISDN V3 is now Online Officially!
Thanks to the many friendly beta-testers we now are able to offer an official
version for the new VMC-ISDN software for all of the interested, and each
owner of an Amiga ISDN board.
Though this version still doesn´t has all the features VMC is currently working on,
but it fits to make users realize there is no faster driver for ISDN boards for the Amiga.
This version also contains complete example configuration files for every German Call-by-Call
internet providers, and Miami or MiamiDeluxe.
Since like all the time users have been asking for prices, functions or limitations
of the drivers an extensive AmigaGuide document was included, which hopefully
answers all these questions.

Active Technologies surrenders STFax and Genesis to H&P
Active Technologies and Haage & Partner have made an agreement that the
distribution rights of Active Technologies' fax software STFax Professional and
the internet software Genesis will be given to Haage & Partner.

"Genesis and STFax are strategically important products for H&P and we are glad that we can care
for their future development and porting. A first result of our efforts

Earth 2140
Paolo D´Urso from Darkage and Thomas Steiding
from epic interactive will present the demo
of Earth 2140 for the first time at the Pianeta Amiga 2000
which takes place in Empoli, Italy, this weekend.
Earth 2140 is the conversion of one of the most successful realtime strategy games for
PC up to this date. The original PC version was released by Topware. Earth 2140 requires
an Amiga with graphics board, an 68040 minimum, and 24 MByte RAM. PPC and more RAM
are supported of course.
In two weeks, the 25 MB large demo will be available for download on the epic interactive
website.

New Version of InstallerNG
On the "Official InstallerNG Site" there is a new version for the
well known Installer replacement, the InstallerNG, available for
free download. A number of small bugs were fixed, and a new function
was added. Attention: the support for MEDIA functions basing on
datatype still is under development and therefore might be buggy.
Furthermore the example scripts were worked over, and the manual was

WarpGIF: Rectification
If many voices are emphasing the same suggestion, so you start to believe this suggestion, even
if it isn´t true. If fell for this well known phsycologic phenomenon myself.
Contrary to the opinion of many users the gif-subclass of the picture.datatype is not capable
of viewing animated GIFs within browsers. Many users claimed the original OS3.5 gif.datatype
to able to do that. Unfortunately I cannot validate this.
Therefore also with the WarpGIF.datatype only the first image of an animated GIF is viewed!
The animation only can be viewed by the respective PlugIn of the browser.

Heise: Motorola shrinked the G4
«Motorola introduced
an new version of the G4 PowerPC with smaller structure and lower needs of power. The new
one is called MPC 7410, is equiped with AltiVec as well as the the MPC 7400, alias G4, and should also be
fully multi-processor capable (SMP). With the new system bus, MPX, transfer rate is up to 6.4 GBit/sec.
The L2 cache can alternatively be used as high speed memory (Private Memory Mode).»

Gary Peake: Statement on the AmigaSDK for Windows
We have, as our first concern, developers. Developers need to be able to
make money or they stop developing for a platform as we have all seen.
Windows currently holds 85% of the desktop market.
Having said that, envision a run-time environment that is so small you can
sell a CD of YOUR applications, games, etc along with this run-time
environment and know that it will load and run on Windows, Linux, etc.
How valuable is this to a developer?
Once the AmigaDE takes hold and as market share increases, then we have
even more opportunity for our developers (who are all hungry or should be
after a 9 year drought).
On the up side, there is this list, where new Linux SDK users may get
the assistance they need to remain un-shafted, and Amiga Inc.
continues to work and partner with more factions of the Linux and Open
Source communities.
And our commitment to open source won't waiver. It takes BOTH kinds of
development to enhance a platform.

Metabox Share Free Falling
Metabox, once stock jobber´ favourite in the new market, were not able to fulfill
their volume announced early this year.
One was talking about orders amounting to millions, that time - in fact just
declarations of intent by anonymous, but bulk purchasers from foreign countries.
After that the Metabox share shot up, and was the favourite of every risk loving
investor, all summer.
Since several days share is in the red continuous, and today for some time went below -50%
after the company from Hildesheim, Germany, released a profit caution. The initial
volume forecast of 198 Mio. DM was audited to 70 Mio. DM. At this time the share is
at a price of 7,- EUR. Top price was converted into euros (due to share split)
45,80EUR in July.
Metabox beside internet boxes for TV-sets also produces G3 boards for the Mac,
and had announced an Amiga version of these boards, the "AmiJoe". If AmiJoe
ever will be released is doubtful, now.

Haage & Partner Reachable Again
During works on the company building telephone line was damaged. Due to this from Thursday to Monday
H&P wasn´t fully reachable, and most of all they could not receive e-mails. Now everything
is working again and H&P now has a DSL connection, too.
H&P used the "free time" to do some changes of their homepage. Impressum, copyright, and data secureness
are new sections accessible via text links in the footer. Many other pages have been overworked and
updated, e.g. most of the FAQ pages giving answers to frequently asked questions.

Digital Almanac and WarpGIF News
Digital Almanac:
Due to low demand for DA III production of an English version is doubtful, at this time.
The final decision on this subject will not be made until the end of this year along with
the decision if DA III will be further developed or this project will be completely stopped.
Every soled CD from now on will come with the enhanced version 1.2.
WarpGIF:
At this time support for animated GIF images on OS3.5 (picture.datatype V44) is being worked on.
This should then make viewing animated images with AWeb possible.

DirOpus 4 Plus (AddOns) Available
Jacek Rzeuski has continuous developed the source code of DirectoryOpus 4, which was made disposable
by GP Software. Now he has made DirOpus 4 Plus available
for download. The archive contains a collection of AddOns for Directory Opus 4 consisting of
20 ARexx scripts for several uses, and two CLI tools.
Geert Uytterhoeven from Belgium has coded
a patch for his Ariadne II driver. With this patch the driver can be used for
X-Surf. The patch has not been tested, yet. Thence we ask you for a short message
from everyone who has tried the patch! The patch is to find at the Support-Area.
Geert recently had a knee surgery and therefore cannot work at the computer on the next
days. We wish him to get well soon!

Photogenics 5.0 Release Candidate 2 for Linux
Photogenics - THE graphics and image manipulation software, first developed for the
Amiga, has also been ported to Linux by the author Paul Nolan.

ADFBlitzer Verion 2.0 Available
Since yesterday, version 2.0 of the popular ADF program ADFBlitzer is available from
my homepage. Magnus Lundin, author of the first versions (up to v1.2) gave me the source
code and permission to continue development.
Currently there are mainly visual improvements. However, since almost everything has been
turned upside down internally, it might not run as expected. Therefore I ask for your
e-mail feedback if it works - or doesn´t work.
Sorry but currently the only way to download the program is by the direct link (titlelink),
because my homepage has not yet been updated.

VirusExecutor V2.05
Jan Erik Olausen released version 2.05 of "VirusExecutor" on September 23rd, 2000. It is easy to use.
It analyzes unknown bootblocks automaticly and checks the memory, executables and LHA-, LZX- and ZIP-archives for viruses.
The program runs on all Amigas using AmigaOS 2.04 or higher, reqtools.library V38.11, xvs.library V33.13,
and xfdmaster.library V38.6.
BindAssigns Released
BindAssigns is a little shell-program that can replace the MakeDir and Assign entries in the Startup-Sequence.
Furthermore it can replace the MUI-assign entries in the User-Startup.

AmigaSoc Activ Again
«After several months worth of unscheduled silence, AmigaSoc is back! In
fact, we were never really gone! The primary reason for our apparant
absence was lack of time.
The company two of AmigaSoc´s founder members are shareholders of has
grown from a staff complement of five to nearly fifty and has recently
received first round investment. Squeeze in the purchase and
renovation of houses, and a bit of marriage and you might begin to see
where we´ve been! Our user group mailing list (and a couple of others)
had to be shut down at very short notice owing to security issues beyond
our control.
Rest assured that we haven´t given up and we´ll still support the Amiga
community the best we can in the future.
The plethora of unanswered E-Mails and lack of updates to the website

H&P: Telephone Line Damaged
The damage were caused by some works in the Haage&Partner-building. Because of this
they had no connection to the internet since thursday last week and they were not able to
receive Emails and could only offer a limited telephone support. H&P hope that the Deutsche Telekom will

DocDatatypes V39.60
A new version of the DocDatatypes by Amarpreet Singh Munde were released on 09-22-2000.
A new datatype for Mac Write-files were added. The MS-Word-datatype were updated and supports
now older Word-fileformats (before version 6) better then the former version. A new feature
is the now included Filefinder supporting searches by name, size, date and filetype.
Aminet Upload Problems
SMSEngineer v1.0.2 was not uploaded due to some reasons. I uploaded it again and I am hoping,
that it will be in the recent area. Once again I bag your pardon.

Amiga NG - Microsoft is Planning this for Years.
Microsoft, Redmond, USA.
Microsoft is developing a technic called IL (Intermediate Language) for years. The underlying concepts
are amazing similar to the AmigaNG! There is no JustInTime compiler but the IL-modules were preloaded
and compiled into native code at runtime (with corresponding hardwareoptimizations). All is integrated
in Windows and will be released with VisualStudio 7.0 and C# in 2001 or 2002. This is another way for
MS to other hardwaresystems like mobile phones or handhelds. Even games will be available for different
hardwaresystems by using IL and a core-kernel.
Annotation of the author: AmigaNG still have chances: it is smaller, does not depend on a special OS,
faster available for different devices and not a product by Microsoft.

Graphics Artist and Musician Wanted
APC&TCP is looking for a graphics artist and a musician for a game developing project that are able
to do the following things :
The graphics designer has to paint 21 maps of towns showing buildings, streets and parks depending
on the dimensions. One version with 256 colors for AGA and graphicboards and one version with
32 colors for ECS (resolution: 640x480). Furthermore he has to paint backgroundpictures for windows and the screen.
The musician has to produce at least 4 modules of the type protracker matching the genre of tradesimulation.

Amiga Survivor Update
There appeared technical problems for the Amiga Survivor Magazine.
During the transport of the A4000 to the layouter the computer got damaged, so
that the release of the magazine was delayed again.
The issue #9 (planned for release on 10. August 2000) and the issue #10
(planned for release on 10. October) will be published as soon as possible.
To support the Amiga games market there will be additionally a cover disk with
an actual games hits. With issue #9 comes Max Rally and #10 will contain
Fun Class by Cosmo.
The price of the magazine won´t change because of the cover disk. It amounts to
£3.99 in Great Britain, £4.99 in Europe or £5.99 overseas.

Aminet CD39 - 10/2000 to be Available soon
Aminet CD 39 - Oktober 2000 - contains nearly one gigabyte (unpacked) of
software in thousands of archives. Since Aminet CD 38 over 500 MB of new
files have been added. As a special highlight, Aminet 39 contains the
fantastic pinballs Pinball Dreams, Pinball Fantasies and Pinball Illusions.
The three pinballs can be run from CD or harddrive.
News since release 33 and once more updated: The popular News-Archive
amiga-news.de by Petra Struck is now part of every Aminet-CD (in german and
english) and may be directly viewed from the readme-file with the included

We have decided to let people register our software for free, because we
believe that coding should be fun, now shouldn´t it? The same is true for

Finnish Amiga User Group Announces User Group Meeting
ESPOO, FINLAND - September 21, 2000 - Finnish Amiga Users Group will host its

follow after 15:30 o´clock.

Fnurr2000 Released
With Fnurr2000, an old, funny and very simple game was released. In this new
programmed game you have to let small pixels explode. (Avoid homing pixels)
AMP 2 version V2pre4 Released
A pre-version of the MPEG-Player AMP 2 was released, in which the problem of not
functioning slides was fixed. The AC3 decoder can now be used for listening AC3Streams
in DVD clips.

Czech Amiga News has asked Marko Seppaenen, developer of ImageEngineer, a gfx-package
for Amiga, why he leaves the Amiga Community. In his
answer Marko said
it would be easy to declare software piracy and bad sells as reasons for this
step or he could tell a long story about the reasons, but he will not, because

Directory Opus 4 Version 4.15a (Beta) Released
Jake Rzeuski has continously developed the free source code of GP Software
and has now released a new beta version 4.15a of the file-manager for download.
In this version NewIcons and GlowIcons are 100% supported and the size informations
of files are listed in KB/MB/GB in listers.
New Addon for YAM
Michael Luense has finished a new addon for YAM. This is a little Arexx program
which opens several requesters for e-mail editing or viewing and saving of attachments.

SimplePac Version 1.2
A new version for the Workbench game SimplePac was released. New is the resizeable game window and
a hiscore list. Furthermore own sounds, keyboard, and joystick are supported, now.
AmigaAMP 2.8 BETA-8 Released
Version 2.8 Beta-8 for the MPEG audio player "AmigaAMP" for Amiga was released.
The author Thomas Wenzel notes that this update was done very fast, due to his Amiga
needs to be repaired urgently, and it might take him one or two weeks to reply on
e-mails.
A new config editor by Daniel Westernberg is available.
New Payback Status Report
In this new status report the author James Daniels tells that the game now supports two
CD playback modes, he mainly dealt with development of new levels, and new vehicles, and
some bugs were fixed. Furthermore the game engine was optimized to make it faster, and
a lot of graphics were redrawn, professionally.

Darkage Software will Attend the Pianeta Amiga 2000
Darkage Software, the creators of games like "Tales from Heaven", "Powerball", "Extreme", and "Supreme"

Stefan Muenz was able to win a hop in the oral trial this morning at the county court
Duesseldorf, Germany. The case is Stefan Muenz vs the Symicron company who charged

Future of Warpgate in the Air
As the webmaster Andreas Wendorf told during an IRC interview yesterday, the future
of Warpgate is in the air. He found fault both, the programmers and software companies
acceptance, who only support the Warp9 team with news in an inadequate way.
The English news site all around the subjects of WarpOS and Warp3D, which was put online
in March 1999 was already stopped once, and then was restarted again in February
2000 after numerous user requests.

at MSNBX things turned in a wonderfull way. On Friday morning Linux still was ahead with 28% of 18,500 votes,
as reported, and now the percentage of votes for the
free operating system decreased to 3% of 384,848 votes, untill Sunday evening.
This survey took a curious way: Linux had its grand level at about 03:00 AM with 39%, of the up to that time given 29,100 votes
a number of 11,350 belonged to the free operating system. Within the following 20 hours 126,500 votes more were given, of
which only 800 voted for Linux (0.6%), stunningly. By that the percentage of votes for Windows 95/98/ME, as well as for
NT/2000 was dubbled. Now some are getting suspicious
that there must have happened some manipulation. Don´t trust any statistics you didn´t faked yourself....

The new public betaversion 3.2d Beta 3 for MakeCD, a CD burning program for Amiga, is available now.
The archive contains only the new binaries. That's why you need version 3.2c for installaling the new version

Audiomaster2k and AmiMDC800 Updates
At the software area you find updates of Audiomaster2K, a sample editor. The software is shareware and with the
alphaversion 0.52a available for download you will not be able to save your work.
AmiMDC-800 were updated, too. The new release has the version number 1.73. You can use this program to control
your Mustek MDC-800 and transfer pictures to your computer. Because the software is a commercial product you,
will not be able to transfer pictures with the downloadable version.

COMA, Is That a Virus?
NO! COMA is the name of the new clubmagazin (German) of the "Allgemeiner ComputerClub Magdeburg" (AccM).
Presumably it will be published on the 7th of october 2000 at our homepage. The first issue will
feature a report about the exhibition in Neuss, a HTML-Tutorial and much more. But it should not
be a AccM-Magazin only, everyone who wants to write something is invited to write articles.
The articles could be about new hardware, commentaries about up-to-date problems, jokes,
comicstrips or what ever you would like to write about.
And because we are a general computer club you do not have to write about Amiga the articles
can even be about PC or MAC or any other computer or OS. The last date for articles for issue
number 2 is the 1st october 2000. But we are still looking for authors for the upcoming issues.

WinUAE V0.8.14 R3
On 16. September 2000 version 0.8.14 Release 3 of the Windows port of the Amiga
emulator UAE was released. Compared with the last version the following things

On 16 September 2000 SEAL has released issue #6 of their own club magazin.
With 48 pages it is teh biggest issue, yet. It contains among other things a
feature about accelerator cards, reviews of PageStream 4 and Heretic II and a
new hints part.

This time we have got permission from the companies "Talking Birds" (known for
football manager games) and "Polarware" (once specialised in adventure games) to
offer their Amiga game on our site for download. Some of the games of these
firms, like "Oo Topos (Adventure, already released in 1986 in the USA) and "Der
Trainer" (german football manager with very good reviews in "Amiga Joker" and
"Amiga Games") are now ready for download.
Further on other games, for example "Dungeon Krampfer", "Thromulus" and others,
have been added.
Besides these credits concerning around 200 more Amigagames were integrated in
the searchable database. The music section was updated with new soundtracks of
Amiga games like "Lethal XCess", and more.
Around 60 hires cover scans of classic Amiga games are finishing this update.
Report about SEAL-O-RAMA
Gary Storm of SEAL has published an extensive report about the SEAL-O-RAMA, in which among other things he talks
about the individual exhibitors. All together around 190 people have visited the show. This number exceeded the desired
number of visitors.

GBE V0.4.8b
On 17 September 2000 Mathias Roslund has published the version 0.4.8b of his port of the Gameboy emulator GBE for
PPC-Amigas. The emulator itself is developed by Chuck Mason and Steven Fuller.
In this version the memory problem has been solved and triple buffering has been added.
The emulator supports all Z80-Opcodes and the Gameboy Color. It runs on PPC-Amigas with WarpUp V4.0+, 8 MB RAM and
AGA or CGfX.

WarpGIF-Datatype
The first GIF datatype for WarpOS is now freely available for all PPC-Amigas.
After datatypes for JPEG and PNG under WarpOS (done by Oliver Roberts and Andreas Kleinert)
this datatype now closes the gap for the widely spread GIF format.
According to Achim Stegemann this GIF datatype is speedwise around twice as fast as the original Gif-DT of the OS 3.5.
At the moment only OS 3.1 and 3.5 are supported. OS 3.0 follows later on.

AROS - Status
AROS (Amiga Research OS), the system independent open source new implementation of the AmigaOS
is now bootable as the native version, and one can already do mouse moving on the screen.
Since there still is no filesystem no programs can be executed. Currently it is being tried to
get the source code of SFS; the author was positive about this idea, but first wants to fix some bugs.

HyperCOM Magic Update with IOBlix Emulation
Beta-test HyperCOM 2.96B1 Magic-Update
With the new HypeCOM update we are making a lot of new functions official at once, hence there
is a big chance for problems to occur which we did not realise up to now.
As substitute for the old SilverSurfer software we are now officially offering a support via the
hyperCOM1.device from version v2.96B1, which has been enhanced or made faster in all parts compared to
the old silversurfer.device.
On of the most important new functions now is an implemented IOBlix software emulation, which allows some
programs and drivers to be used with the extremely compatible HyperCOM boards, at last.
Here are some examples on what already works:
Within the next days the technical part of the emulation will be enhanced further, so that
surely even more applications and drivers can be used with the HyperCOM boards.
ATTENTION!
In order to be able to use the IOBlix software emulation the vmcresource.library must be loaded
by one of our drivers (hyperCOMx.device oder hyperPAR.device)!

With the today update at "Back to the Roots" we are proving that this site
is something for everybody worldwide, no matter which land you are from or which

only told about some of the new games.
Of course, as absolute demo freaks we never would forget the demo scene with our updates.
Therefor there are among others two brand-new demos from Scoopex and Spaceballs for the - you
listen and are astonished - Amiga500 for download! Furthermore many classic demos and newer demos
for ECS+AGA Amigas/emulators were added.
For the friends of music among us there is a big Jesper Kyd Special - the well known musician of the
group "The Silents". From Hannes Seifert (Whale´s Voyage) or Matthias Stenzhorn (Brainman) comes
music from computer games. We even were able to find a remix of the popular music from Monkey Island 2.
And the graphisc fetishists should have a look at the marvelous pictures by scene artists like Flood,
Nomad or Acryl.

Fighter Model for Virtual Fighting finished
The fighter basic model for the Game "Virtual Fighting" is ready for beta testing. The fighting game runs on Workbench

to patent from the European Patent Agreement.

Due to further development of ArtEffect there were some little discrepancies in the old workshop, which now
have been fixed. Furthermore the layout was changed completely. 12 chapters are introducing both, interesting functions

Multiuser is the progress of Multiuser Filesystem (muFS).
Sensitive data can be saved from foreign access or from deleting. This patch requires AmigaOS3.5 and
Multiuser v1.8.

Due to some putative bug reports on the DA III pages one page with "Tips and Tricks" has been

Our French sister-site AmigaImpact announced on September, 10th the presentation of the adventure
´GILBERT GOODMATE´ by Crystal Interactive Software
at the ´SealORama´ - unfortunatly only a PC version will be presented.
But the distributor endeavours to being able to publish the Amiga version (PPC) within this year.

A new version for the Gameboy-Emulator GBE for PPC Amigas was released
at "AmiDog´s Emulation Corner". This one supports emulation of sound,
and compatibility was enhanced.
Earth 2140
epic interactive announces portation to the Amiga of the successful realtime strategy game "Earth 2140".
epic has got the license from Topware Interactive AG to port one of the most popular realtime strategy game
for Windows to Mac and Amiga. The Amiga version is currently at an early beta state and release is estimated for
early November.
Since Earth runs in 16Bit it requires high level hardware: at least an Amiga with 68040 processor, graphics board and
16MB of RAM. But recommended is an Amiga PPC with graphics board and 32MB of RAM.
Earth plays in the year 2140. The earth is controlled by two competing forces, the Eurasian Dynasty (ED) and the United
Civilised States (UCS). Both are at war with each other fighting for the last remaining raw materials on earth....
The Amiga version comes with different localisations, including German. Have a look at the first
screen shots.

Epic Marketing Germany is restructuring
On 30. September 2000, Epic Marketing Germany will say good-bye after four years in the Amiga market,
and will start two new companies on 1. October 2000. Due to this, the homepage is reworked and
will be reposted in early October.
The company will be split into two areas on 1. October 2000:
epic interactive will turn towards the
gaming market, and primarily port and develop games for the Apple MacIntosh. Support for
the systems Milan and Amiga One is targeted as soon as those are available
on the market.

to this entry, Petro Tyschtschenko, Vice President of Amiga Inc., Germany, has founded
together with Frank Basta a new company named "Power Service GmbH".

New UAE JIT Patch Available
"Just a quick note --- there is a new "bleeding edge" patch for UAE-JIT for Linux.
It fixes some minor problems, and adds some important changes to the JIT compiler.
If you had stability problems in the past, you might want to try this one. I have
made a source patch and a few pre-built binaries available. Please understand that
this is more or less a snapshot of work in progress, not a full "release" (can´t
have a release --- the Premier League had last weekend off due to an international
;-), and as such requires you to know what you are doing.
I am fairly confident that the source compiles, and that the binaries are actually
built for what they claim to be built form, but that is about as far as I´ll go....

If you haven´t used UAE-JIT before, and plan to download one of the new binaries,
PLEASE also download the "patch against pristine sources" from the Derby County
release. You don´t want the patch, but you *definitely* want the documentation that

New SSTV-Software for Radio Amateurs
At the link comm/misc/af_mksstv.lha a test version
of a program for sending pictures through SSTV (narrow band television) is for download. At the moment you only can send
pictures by using
the modus Martin M1. No special hardware is required. The output is realized over the audio output of the Amiga -
you will hear a 114 seconds long whistle. The recommended hardware is a A1200 with OS3.0, but a faster one would be better.
User comments, bug reports and suggestions are welcomed. A further development depends on the user respond.

Pegase V1.8d
Marcel Rohles writes:
Didier Levet released four updates of the MPEG-Layer-2-encoders Pegase between 31.08.2000 and 09.09.2000.
In addition to bugfixes and little changes, the audio-model has been improved. Now there is nearly no
difference between original and copy with a 160 kbit coded AIFF.
Unfortunately there were no responses during the last weeks, so he thinks that noone uses Pegas
e anymore or there is no interest in further versions.
Especially on pure 68k-Amigas there is in my opinion no alternative to Pegase - MP§-encoding without
PPC takes too much time.
Pegase offers compression-times of 2:1 on my Cyberstorm MK I (50 MHz) and a really good quality of
the encoded songs, often even better than free MP3-encoders.
Official WinUAE V0.8.14R1
Brian King released the officail version 0.8.14R1 of WinUAE. He also informs that Toni Wien,
up to now responsible for AGA and NTSC/PAL has overtaken the further developement.

AMP V2pre2
On September 8 2000 Mathias Roslund released a second preversion of the movieplayer AMP2.
Also added were support for AHI and triple buffering (only CGX at the moment).
The Shell-interface has been cleaned up and unuseful options have been removed.
Amiga Fire Online Again
After a server-crash on September 8 2000 Amiga Fire is back online. All data on the
server has been deleted. Most of it has been restored, thanks to backups, but part
of the news-section is lost.

Rainboot3 has been released at the Airsoft Softwair homepage.
It´s an extremely expanded Rainboot2-version. Rainboot3 has now many features, that Rainboot-Users dreamed

Take Part in the Developement of Lyra!
Lyra is the joungest child of individual Computers. This is an adapter to use
WindowsTM-Keyboards with the Amiga.
Though some thing like this alreay exists, but none of the up to now introduced interfaces fulfilled our
personel needs. Either some of the key were not used, or others had absolutely insane seizures, and again
other had problems when more then one key were pressed at the same time. This interface
for the "Bigbox" Amigas (2000, 3000, 4000 and tower-case) easy gets pluged between keyboard and computer.
In the case of A1200 it gets impressed to the keyboard processor, which is to find on the A1200 main board.
We have spent as much effort as possible to get the seizures very similar to the original Amiga keyboards,
and to give reasonable seizures to additional keys. Though, we want to hear the opinions about the seizures
of as many users as possible befor we cannot change anything, any more. So, take your time to have close look
at the key seizures, and mail
us your opinion. The best suggestion will be honoured with some little surprise! Release is planned for the end of October.

The fastest Driver for ISDN-boards ever!

After a long time, there's some news from Epic:
Virtual Ball Fighters, the action game for the Amiga is finally available.
VBF requires an Amiga with AGA or graphics card, a 030 CPU and 8 MByte RAM.
PPC and soundcards are supported.
The successor to MooVID Pro is coming soon: MooVID Pro 2 will be shipped from
September 18th on. Beside many optimizations, MooVID now supports the PPC
(WarpUP and Power Up). Owners of the previous version get a cheaper update
from epic.

"Middle City" preview and interview
Juergen A. Theiner of Playamiga.de has talked with the Italian programmers
of the new adventure "Middle City" and created a preview with many screenshots.
Here a small excerpt:
"Middle City is a classical adventure in the vein of Monkey Island. The setting
is a remote village. The goal is to solve the mystery of the disappearance of
Linda Patton whose arm was found in the river. Main character is the (not really
intelligent) FBI agent Cox who has to work closely with the good-looking
Ellen Dow from the local police. All characters are very excentric and thus
suspicious. The end will be a huge suprise."

New Warp-Datatypes
Oliver Roberts released new versions of his WarpPNG and WarpJPEG datatypes.
The WarpPNG.datatype is now available also for 68k Amigas and there´s also
a native MorphOS version, now.
The new version of WarpJPEG.datatype has some bugs fixed and a 4% speed-up
for the 68k version. An extensive feature list can be found at the title link.
SoundFX 4.1 Preview at the BAUD Meeting
At the BAUD meeting in Bielefeld, Germany, an exclusive preview of SoundFX 4.1
will be presented. The new version contains many bugfixes and improvements
in the user interface. Another new feature is the new batch processor.

Grasshopper LLC, the distributor of PageStream, published the documentation
of IFF and links to the Application Library SDK on their pages. The release
allows third parties to write plug-ins for PageStream. Interested developers

Supplement, 09-09-2000 by Ruediger Hanke:
There is a problem unfortunatly mentioned nowhere as it is. The SDK at the time beeing
works solely with SAS/C! If one tries to compile the includes using StormC, he will get
a lot of error messages and an endless loop in the compiler, if lucky.
The includes also are not the only wattle, the enclosed linker-libraries are too SAS/C specific, too.
Fortunatly Deron is very helpful, he promised me to send me the sources of these linker-libraries, so
that I can port them to StormC.
This is not mentioned on the website. At the end one might take the effort (quite a few) to adapt the
includes, just to finde out at the end that the needed linker-library doesn´t match. If Deron
sends me the sources, and I would manage to get them running with StormC, I will make up a SDK version
for StromC programmers.
New issue "AMIGA SCENE"
The September/October issue of the Dutch/Flemish print magazine "AMIGA SCENE" has

New Amiga Design for Nokia 3210 Mobile Phone
Rolf Tingler has already created designs with Amiga look in airbrush for
several mobile phone models. Now there´s also a shell available for the
Nokia 3210. For the Nokia model 8210, a new Amiga design is in the works.
The design is a bit complicated as this phone is really small and thus
there's only very little space for the design.

For all SDK users:
AmigaMPEGPlayer is now up to 25% faster (!) than the initial version, and has got a file-requestor in addition, too.
writepixel was completely overworked, is now definite faster than previeous versions, and has got a scalable window.
Furthermore the colour fade now changes corresponding to mouse position and time.

Gottschalk, who takes care of accounting and datatyping. Stefan Robel has
just finished a practical period for his computer studies, in which he
created a new and portable version of StormRexx. At the beginning of
September, Alexander Bramm and Simon Neumann brought two new co-workers.
Their main concern is support, and managing of new projects.
For proof-reading of our website texts, press releases and manuals we are
looking for an additional English native speaker. A good knowledge of
English grammer etc. is essential.

As already reported, Taifun is the successor product to the award-winning video and animation special effects software
Wildfire7\PPC. The new software product is currently being developed using the Amiga Software Development Kit (SDK)

Public-Opinion Poll at www.zophar.net
At www.zophar.net, supposed to be the biggest emulators-site online, there is currently
a public-opinion poll to find at the top of the right menue board, on what useres would
wish to see on the page in future. Among other things there is also the possibility to
vote for "Emulators for the Amiga". If you are interested in this, you should set your
vote there, cause there are only about 10% of votes for Amiga at the moment.

TWF no longer Responsible for Expolrer2260, and Main and Mangle
On the website of "The World Foundry" there is a short statement saying that TWF is not longer
responsible for production of the games "Explorer2260" and "Main and Mangle". For more details of

clickBOOM: Nightlong
Nightlong has been enabled by Trecision, which means the betatests have passed positively. Now only the CDs, and
packings are to be produced, and then the game will be available soon.
Nightlong is a graphically costly point-and-click game which at first was published by Team 17 for the PC,
and became a big success. The background of the game is a conspiracy anno 2099 which the player has
to clear up.

Directory Opus 4.15 Released
Jacek Rzeuski has continued developing the released sourcecode of the filemanager Directory Opus 4
and released version 4.15 yesterday. The changes since version 4.14 you can read up in the
history. There are too much to be written down here.
AmiDogs Movieplayer AMP2
Mathias "AmiDog" Roslund has opened an AMP2-site where you can find the current updates for the
Amiga-Movie-Player AMP 2. Version V2pre1 of the 5th of September 2000 is the most recent one. But this version probably
has still a couple of bugs and therefore should be tested with caution, as the author says. Please, read
information on the AMP2-site carefully.

SView C++ Image Loaders
SView class-library was ported to Linux x86 (GCC) successfully. Originally it based on Watcom/C++ 11 for
Win32 (Win9x, WinNT, Win2000) and now can be compiled from the same source-tree for each Linux-platform,
as well. This also would make possible porting back to ADE 68k, PPC or MorphOS, as well as porting
to Linux 68k or AInc´s VP.
In future it will be possible to give licences for binary or sourcecodes. Do not hesitate to inquire
in time.

Turboprint 7.12beta Released
Version 7.12beta for Turboprint was released containing improved drivers for HP DeskJet 930, 950, 970 (1200 / 2400dpi).
The drivers for Canon BJC 1000, 2000, 6xxx, 7xxx have been made faster. For Epson there are new drivers.
Test Report of Matrox G405 at hartware.net
hartware.net has examined the new graphics board Matrox Millennium G450. This one was not made for the
home user but for business user and customers of companies. Nevertheless we have had a look at the
Millenium G450 with regard to the use for games. Maybe this card is a reasonably alternative for the

PlayGUI Version 3.0 Available
PlayGUI, developed by Richard Kapp, is an AddOn for both, the modulde-player HippoPlayer and the
sample-player Play16. PlayGUI offers a new user interface for these programms, which trouble-free can be
displaced by other graphics (so called skins).
PlayGUI v3.0 from now is available at the titlelink. New with this version among other things are MPEG and
MIDI support, help texts for all settings, graphics inside the settings windows, and many more. By the way,
of course there are also some new skins for PlayGUI and PLone (PlayGUI AddOn).

YaQuZa - New PlayStation Emulation for Amiga
A new PlayStation emulation called "YaQuZa" is under development for the amiga. Versions for PowerUp, WarpOS
and MorphOS were announced. The statusreport says that the PowerUp-versions is already working. The emulation will be
released in a few weeks.

AmiPak - New default Archive-Format for the AmigaOE
Patrick Roberts and Wayne Martin are working on a new filecompression standard for the new AmigaOE.
The new program will be called AmiPak (file-extension: .amp) and it will have many advantages compared to the ones used now.
This format will be availabel for other platforms, too. Additional there will be a GUI which can also handle formats like bzip,
gzip, tar, zip and lha. A betaversion will be available next month.

DiskMaster version 2.5b7 Available
Version 2.5b7 of DiskMaster 2 is available using the titlelink. There are also new versions of DM2.guide and DM2_deutsch.guide.
The Board will be available for A1200 (in Tower-case) and A4000 Desktops. If request is high enough a version for
A4000T will be made, too. The Board is connected directly to the expansionport of BlizzardPPC and CyberstormPPC boards
so the whole 4GB-adress-space of the PPC can be used. It offers 3 PCI and one AGP slot. The slots are clocked
with 66MHz and 32bit-wide bus. In addition there is a SD-RAM-socket on-board (PC100DIMM) for up to 256MB of RAM.
This memory is available for the PPC-processor and graphics boards in the AGP slot. The bus is completely PCI 2.1 compatible
and offers busmastering and DMA. The A4000-version of the board also has an A4000 video slot.
A 3D-driver for Voodoo 5 which is supposed to be shipped with the board is under developement.
The release date is set to late September/early October.

WarpJPEG.datatype V44.13
On September, 2nd 2000 Oliver Roberts released version V44.13 of his WarpJPEG-Datatype. Besides WarpOS this
version also supports MorphOS and 68k-Amigas (68020+) - with optimised versions for 020, 030, 040 and 060.
Additionally a bug has been removed that could crash the system in case of low memory.
AudioCutter Cinema version 0.89 for x86-Linux
The AudioCutter Cinema is now available as another preview version for linux. Besides new effects and functions
the calculation of the complex 24 bit surround tracks has been acclerated significantly. More information and a
download-possibility are available here.

REBOL/View Pre-Beta 5 REBOL has released the Pre-Beta 5 of REBOL/View.
Currently this beta is available for Linux and Windows systems.
In addition to REBOL/Core, REBOL/View offers a graphical interface, with
all features of REBOL/Core being contained in REBOL/View. With this update, the REBOL
dialect VID (Visual Interface Dialect) for using the GUI elements has been improved.

We´re back!
After a month of problems with the domain name, AmiBench.org is now online
again and can be reached under the usual URL with all functions. Because of the
change of the worldwide DNS servers it can possible take up to 72 until
AmiBench.org can be reached again from
everywhere. AmiBench regrets the chaos which arose from the problems.
AmiBench 2 is in the works, there will be many new interesting features.
