RegNet-Registration
RegNet informed me, that they´d be releasing a new site
and that the transfer should be smoothly - however
due to an obvious IP address change, http://www.regnet.net
currently points to some completely different site
(after first only containing an error message and then
being down for a while).
I would expect, that the DNS server entries get updated
soon and would be be glad, if people that have not been
able to register since 26th/27th of July would try
again in a few days.

News from AmiWest Teemu I. Yliselä has listened to the UGN live audio stream
of Bill McEwen and basing on his notes (he did not record the stream himself) he summarized the following on
ANN.
The target term for the release of the AmigaOne presently is December 2000. AmigaOne will base on
Amiga´s own motherboard design including not off the shelve components.
Amiga founded their own hardware department leaded by Dean Brown. This department is ought to design
custom hardware for various devices, which then will be offered to third party manufacturers for
production.
The SDK is selling better than expected. Amiga is in contact with a large number of big
consumer electronics and software companies including every important game smithy.
Many of them already purchased the SDK. After Bill McEwen´s recent two TV gigs the companies´
interest increased.
A SDK version for Windows will be available from next month.
From next week Read Hat will distribute the SDK. Sun started to utilize Amiga´s software
to present Java, too.
It is beeing planed to release beta versions of the OE.
Amiga plans to go public
Paul Nolan will take care of jobs under contract for Amiga.
Licences: No software developer will be forced to pay sums to Amiga.
Instead of this there will be the possibility to take part in an unsolicited certification project.
This project will offer the opportunity to put the Amiga lable on your own product, and the chance
of your product beeing marketed directly by Amiga. This will cost 1,50$ US per sold unit.
Amiga will offer low cost promotion and merchandising products to the users.
At the show Amiga presented a touchscreen basing on the ARM and running with the new OE. The design came form
Mick Tinker.
Back compatibility to the Classic Amiga will be carryed into effect by the OE using something which will not be
an emulation.

Interview with Moss and Ewen
Daniel Robbins took an interview with Fleecy Moss and Bill McEwen (Amiga) that has been published at IBM in the section
"developerWorks:Linux overview:Library - papers".
The interview starts with the Amiga Classic and brings out very positively what it really is.
Next, the technology of the new system is beeing explained. Most of this should be known already.
Bill McEwens statement the SDK was sold out after 15 minutes at Neuss, is, as already said by Sebastian Brylka
at Fun Time World, wrong. It was available there for a lowered price on the second day, too.

IMPERIUM TERRANUM 2 - War Of The Worlds
The popular space strategy game from now ist available as
freeware and open source.
The entire source code and all the pictures are content of the download archive.
The source code is liable to the GPL (Gnu Public License). As a result registrations are no

Heise: PowerPC in Reconfigurable Hardware
«Xilinx, the market leader for reconfigurable ICs by cooperation with IBM[1] obtains access to IBM´s
PowerPC processor design. The PowerPC processor cores shall become connected to reconfigurable FPGA circuits.
Thus custom circutis can be integrated directly in the chip - without developing application specific ICs.
In general FPGA enables faster development along with fewer costs than with conventional chips. Additionally
FPGA basing produkts are more flexible, cause of the real circuit of the ICs can be changed easyly. Xilinx[2]
is planning a possibility for updates already integrated into the chips.
Beside the processor core and the aligned CoreConnect-Bus Xilinx gains acces to the current method of
copper production, by which they hope to enhance the performance of their chips. IBM with this cooperation
targets more promulgation of their PowerPC processor.»

Amiga SDK: Version for Windows too
In a posting at the news group c.s.a.m Gary Peake, Director - Developer Support at Amiga Inc., wrote that
it will not take much more time untill the release of a stand-alone version of the Amiga SDK (Amiga Software
Developer&180;s Kit). Furthermore Peake pointed out, that there soon will be an Amiga SDK version for Windows.

MP3 Exchange Market Napster may Stay Online for the time being
«But the abatement of the preliminary injunction does not mean winning the proceeding raised by the
recording industry, at last - the current decision only keeps up the status quo untill the court has dicided
on the reproach that Napster would violate the copyrights of the musicians, and the music companies knowingly
and purposely. Untill early August Napster has time to comment the charge. The music industry can then answer
on Napster´s comments untill early September. The judgment is then expectet during September at the earliest.

For this reason we were forced to disable the update feature of the Tales of Tamar Demo. We point out that
more such trials endanger the release of an Amiga version of Tales of Tamar definitively. We are not keen
on working for nothing for four years and we have attached a lot of money to the development. Only our alpha
testers are authorized to access our ftp server. Furthermore we point out that definitively there will be no
Aminet version of Tales of Tamar free to duplikate. Thus there is no reason for such trials.»

Today the big AmiWest2000 starts in Sacramento. UGN assigned themself the task to provide the users with

Village Tronic Petition
Untill the end of September votes for the Village Tronic (VT) Petition can be made. This petition
intends to persuade VT to place service documents at the disposal of authorized repairing companies
to ensure technical support for or repair of VT products. VT still did not state concretely on the subject
how to deal with the repair of their products in the future. At this time there is no repair support.
Unfortunatly Paul Qureshi only recieved about 200 votes, by now. So, who did not vote till today either can make
this up at the titlelink or can send an email
directly to the promoter of the petition.

Back to the Roots (http://www.back2roots.org), the Amiga Culture
Directory project, was updated again.
The companies Vision Software and Croteam are supporting our
little project now, too. Since today you can download the games
"Roadkill" and "Woody's World", as well as the brilliant soccer
game "5A-Side-Soccer", which is the indoor version of Football
Glory.
Also the games Whale's Voyage 1+2, Black Viper, Fightin´
Spirit and Spherical Worlds from Neo Software are back online,
because the contract with Alive Mediasoft was never valid.
Impressions, the strategy experts from the States, are supporting
BTTR now for a long time and now we can give you the games
"Afrika Korps", "Airbucks" and "Caesar Deluxe" for free.
Demo scene freaks will find tons of new stuff (demos, pictures,
mods), too. Some of the new additions from the scene are looking
so great, that we can´t describe them with words. They´re a must
see. Especially most of the 64k intros are really fascinating as
well as all the new eye-candy in the pictures section.
For all those who don´t know BTTR, yet: BTTR is a legal web project
which attempts to cover all areas of the Amiga (games, demos, tools,
pictures, music and much more). Commercial software (games, tools,
and so on) are offered for free download only with permission of the

Asyncio.library for WarpOS (Bugfix)
From now on, a new version (40.3) of the asyncio.library for WarpOS is available. It
fixes some bugs of the previous version which could lead to problems with very long
files. Sadly, this bug wasn't fix as assumed in the V40.2. This time, there are
no more problems.

AppMI - Toolbar Images with GlowIcons Design
AppMI is a huge collection of images and animations for toolbars with the GlowIcons style
which could possibly become a standard for the Classic Amiga system. The collection is
freely available for programmers and all people interested. To get the archive, a
registration is necessary and everyone publishing a product that uses AppMI should send
me a copy of the full version of the program.
The registration can be made in the "AppMI section". After requesting the registration
form, you should fill out this and send it back to the author. The archive is sent

With this datatype-bundle many document formats like DosWord, WinWord, MacWord,
WordPerfect, RTF and many more are readable for Amiga with Multiview. This datatypes
are shareware. New in version 39.50 are datatypes for PsionWord, Text Ed Windows CE Pocket
Word formats. All other datatypes have been updated.
Anti Gravity: New website Online and Joe Torre Employed!
Joe Torre, a former engineer of the hardware developing department of Amiga will now
work for Anti Gravity on the development of the BoXeR system. Joe Torre is a

New Operating System in Development
"Amber" is the name of the new OS which is said to be an opersting system for PowerPC-based
computers that are sourcecode-compatible with the AmigaOS. The Power Macintosh will be the

SHARKS!-wbesite reworked
"SHARKS!" is a game that takes place underwater. Aim of the game is to collect
treasures with a scuba diver and to get them to your boat. You have to pay attention
on sharks. A little arrow, at the right upper corner, points to the treasure. In later
levels are appearing jelly-fishes that touches are not deadly but decrease the score.
Electric eels do the same. SHARKS! is available since May 2000, the CD will cost 30DM
(for shipping outside of Germany add 5DM for postage) and can be ordered from:
Amiga Pulse - now Interactive
The website of the print magazine was enlarged for a interactive element, a poll. Readers can vote what aspects
they like or dislike. You can win Heretic II if you participate.
The name of the magazine "The Pulse" wad changed into "The Amiga Pulse Magazine".
14th edition offers tests and previews on the following programs: Amiga SDK, Apano Sin, fxPaint 1.5,

Atfer 11 days of faultless tests finally the new update of the x-surf.device is available. Support
of several x-surf cards in a Amiga and activitating the fullduplex-mode while
opening the driver are the most important changes. In the promisc-mode a small bug was fixed.

New Music Site on The Web
By chance - a download from Aminet - I stumbled across a rather new page for Amiga musicians.
At the title link some talented composers, which are partially from the scene, offer their
sounds in Protracker and Octamed format. But they don´t want to just show their own stuff,
but invite all interested to write, track or compose themselves. The results can then be
published in a series they call "Moods - Music For Your Instincts". Perhaps this is a way
to make contact with other projects looking for musicians, and vice versa! (ps)

Turboprint 7.12beta
The printer driver system Turboprint has been released as beta 7.12, including improved
HP Deskjet 9xx drivers. Speed has been improved for several Canon and Epson drivers. To
make use of this update, Turboprint 7.10 or 7.11 beta has to be installed. Bug reports
are welcome.

A new AMIGA network just went online. Goal is to give AMIGA massive support. It combines

New adventure under development: "Middle City"
This adventure, being developed by an Italian group, is about the secrets of the small
town "Middle City", and the murder of Linda Patton which has to be investigated. The
graphics of the screenshots show artistic skill, and look promising. A first playable

The CD³²-Alliance is winding up
«With a bad feeling in our hearts we have to announce that CD³²-Alliance will break up
on 14. august 2000. We stop our activities after very long 8 months. During this time we build
up something special for the CD³². We talking about a place in the internet for this device
and even for his users our CD³²-corner. Unfortunately we could not move that much we first
hoped we could but we are proud of our delivered work until now. But do not worry the CD³²-corner
as you know now will stay online.
If there are any news the CD³² & environmental news-page will be updated. All other
parts will be updated in a monthly term. From now on we publish informations about/from greenpeace too.

Trogladite Awards 2k were Confered
Alltogether awards were confered in five categories. Unfortunately two webpages had to be
disqualified because they were elected using manifold reloads.
How about fairness and sportsmenship ? This spoils the joy even of the award winners. I hope
that Trogladite Software will use a script with a reloadstop or an other protection for preventing
these fraud.

InstallerNG Beta 1.5 released
The InstallerNG Beta 1.5 was released. Like the former versions this one is still fully compatible
to the old Installer with many bugfixes and some nice new features. In the meantime nearly all scripts
are working well; up to 95% of the bugs occuring are caused by failures in the script.

Tonight at 21:30 there will be a monopoly game with HBMonopoly at the IRC Chat Chanel #AmigaFun

Pure Basic V1.50
On July, 18th 2000 version 1.50 of Pure Basic has been released. Many little bugs were corrected and optimizations
for 68020 and higher CPU's were added. A new feature is the PopupMenu-library plus changes on the compiler, the
libraries and the editor.
The Compiler runs on OS3.0 and higher and supports 68k- and PPC-Amigas.

MUI-Class NListtree.mcc V1.1 Released
Carsten Scholling writes:
This MUI-Class offers a simple way to display list entries in an ordered form, the socalled tree. Tree-structure
is used, when files are to be displayed and managed optically separated from each other.
NListtree is interesting for developers as well as for users and easy to handle. If wanted by the programmer and
usefull in the special case, this class allows the free redesigning of the displayed list by Drag´n´Drop
even with multiple choice.
Now, for the first time it is possible to keep full structures when moving entries. This means, that not only
the entry to be moved is inserted in the destination, but, if wanted, all the entries upto the root-list, too.
This is also available when copying entries, which is implemented, too.
CleanRamDisk deletes all files from RAM-Disk, except ´ClipBoards´,
´ENV´, ´T´ and the ´Disk.info´ file.
Under PatternOpus three ARexx-Scripts are assembled, that rename many files at once considering a pattern.
For example, it is possible to give a pattern for a filename like "frame?.jpg" and a starting number,
like "1".
Amiga Needs Alphatesters
Amiga is looking for Alphatesters for their Mesa-Port (OpenGL) and the own Amiga-Object-Model,
currently codenamed "Andromeda".
If you are interested, a Matrox G400 Millennium-graphics board and the SDK are required. In addition you have

AmiBroker V3.30 Beta
An update to version 3.30 (beta) for the stock exchange-program AmiBroker has been released.
This update is free for registered Users. Only the most necessary files are included in the archive.

Massive Support for Eurolinux-Petition

So far, 20000 citizens, among them 300 company executives, signed the Eurolinux
petition for a software-patent free Europe since May 15th. The petition aims at

UGN AmiWest2000 press release
UGN together with Amiga Inc., AmiWest2000, and FortWaynemusic.com are announcing
the second official audiotransmission of an Amiga fair for the July 29th and 30th 2000.
In the past the guests were invited to an IRC-network to answer question. Because of
the limited efficency of the IRC-network it was decided to transmit the voices of the
guests as Mpeg3 (mp3) audiostream.
For the Amiga we will make a step-by-step manual for StreamMp3.rx, a freely available
MP3-Audiostream-player, at ugn.amiga.org available.
You can send your questions untill two days before the fair starts to the website of
UGN.There will be an IRC-channel, too. And a new feature will

VWP News Audio Effects for Casablanca
Together with MotionStudios VWP developed two software packs with audio effects for the video editing system Casablance.
The "SoundFX" pack contains several effects for editing, adulterating, enhancing, and mutating the video sound.
The "SurroundFX" pack has several features for sound surround decoding. Beside free positioning inside the
perception space these effects allow editable and default sound movement, provided a surround decoder (Circle or dolby surround
compatible) is connected to the Casablanca. More information here.

Outlook Virus Warning from MSNBC
Several virus warnings have clearly pointed out that Outlook is an unsecure mailing software, as in the begining opening
an attachment was enough to give crackeres free entrance.
A bug in Outlook and Outlook Express as well, which occures when the software trys to read malformed datefields in which
a long string of GMT is written too (Malformed eMail Header Vulnerability), leads to an overflow error (buffer overflow),
which then can crash the application or - and this is much more dangerous - crackers can use this for execution of any
program code by sending a suitable prepared mail. Recieving such a mail is enough!
Heise: Sun Officially gives StarOffice to Open Source under GPL
During the last days there was the rumour Sun was going to release their Office-packet source-code under the
GNU General Public License (GPL). Even in-house this was called nonsense. But today Sun will be
announcing the release of the source-code officially.
The release of the source code Sun will be announcing at the O`Reilly Open Source Convention in Monterey.
As the coordinator for the further development of the Office packet the organization OpenOffice.org is to be
founded in which are participating Tim O'Reilly, Miguel de Icaza of the Gnome projekt, Brian Behlendorf of the
Apache Software Foundation and Andy Hertzfeld, and others. More members Sun will name during the day to which well-known
companies belong. Besides the coordination of the sources Open Office is to be responsible for the definition
of XML basing file formats, as well as for the programming of intersections.

The utility for initialising the Delfina soundcard was updated and released as version 2.0.
The innovations in this version are three different patch-modi: no patch, patching the delfina.library

that he would not have recieved any licence payments in conjunction with the Trademark "Explorer".

does not mix the term "to pocket" with any allegation on were the payments remained, the more so as cashiers
mostly do not recieve sums in person.²
I only can agree with Heise, because of course Freiherr von Gravenreuth did not collect the royalties in person but
his manner to "make cash" consists of neat little fee-notes to the licensors whose cases he is pleading, and
to the "royalty-violators" he warns or accuses.

TS´s website was worked over completely, again. The new layout is predictable and good-looking.
By turning down expendable graphics the side is now loaded more quick. The news are arranged predictable

New Virus Circulating
This infromation addresses all users who recently purchased The "Techno DataBase 00" CD.
On that CD there are miscellaneous installscripts for different applications. Obviously with that
a new and potential dangerous virus gets installed, too. After installation and rebooting the system
it starts like hell. During loading the SetPatch command inside Startup-Sequence the system hangs all
the time.
Presumably more other files on the system partition are affected. Unfortunatly I lacked time to
check this out, so far. Trying to remove the virus with VT3.17 failed, cause VT could not find
the virus. :-(
For those who are already affected the following advice:
Switch off your Amiga.
Hold down both mouse-buttons and switch on your Amiga to come to the startmenue.
Boot with no Startup-Sequence.
Edit your Startup-Sequence like follows:
;C:SetPatch QUIET
This causes SetPatch not to get executed during startup, whereby the system can be started in some degree,
again. It is possible that that virus is not widely spread yet, due to the fact that the CD comes from
the French part of Switzerland were it was burned, too.

are still sought how participate in the project so that it can be realized.

Amiga Times comming soon as printed magazine
Current they are working hard on the first printed issue of the German Amiga online magazine Amiga Times!
This is an alternative to the otherwise available online issue and will cost about 5DM incl. postage and
delivery (inside Germany). The content of the printed issue of the Amiga Times will allmost identical to
the online issue, fully coloured and DIN-A5 in size!
It would be quite good for us, iff all interested people could inform us via eMail and eventually offer
an issue! As the magazine will be produced by ourselfes, it is not important to us to have numerous
orders save in advance - it will be printed on demand, but it will be better to calculate for us, if
we would have concrete orders. The printed issue will allways be releasd about 3-5 days after the
release of the online issue.

All sections of the RC5 website (setup/handling, FAQ and downloads) are updated

The website of SDS has received the eighth new layout and you can be sure it
will be not the last one. The new design is graphically wonderful reworked and
the navigation is clearly designed. Only one negative point: the blue font on

New Beta of ATC
On July, 8th 2000 a new Beta of the FTP-Client "AmiTradeCenter" has been released,
which contains bugfixes and expansions. All changes can be read in
the Changes-File.
FDA V2.6 - Future Drive Accelerator
On July, 6th 2000 Martin Tauchmann has released the version 2.6 of the diskcache program "FDA" (Future Drive Accelerator)
By caching the data in the RAM FDA accelerates the access on files noticeable.
Harddisks should be faster by faktor 2-20 and diskdrives by faktor 2-997.
Other media like CD-ROM-, Zip-, MO-Drives etc.
are supported, too.
The tool works with at least AmigaOS 2.0 and 2MB Fast-Memory.
Amiga-Report at PC-Magazin

MakeCD 3.2c and FlashRom V1.2
MakeCD version 3.2c and FlashROM version 1.2 are available at the MakeCD-Server for download. Version 3.2c contains bugfixes.
In addition there is the betaversion 3.2d of MakeCD, that supports DAO with ATAPI-drives and offers Sony-drivers.
Ten years S.A.U.G.eV.
The Saarbruecker AMIGA User Group (S.A.U.G.eV.) celebrates their 10th birthday. The president, Werner Veit, wrote:
Since April 1987 our Senior-Member Gerhard Seitz is organizing the first meetings of Amiga-Users. On July, 18th 1990 the S.A.U.G.eV. was founded.
The most important activities were the releases of the SAAR-AG disks (similar to Fred Fish) and the SAAR-AMOK-CD´s.
Under the the long-year presidency of Martin Schulze our Club grew up to the respectable size of more than 160 members.
Regular User-Meetings, workshops, fair-journeys, and the organisation of the AMIGA-Bit were responsible for that about 70 members can

Porting MySQL to Amiga
The Amiga University plans a portation of some suggested
projekts. The first will be a port of the on webservers widely spread SQL-Database
MySQL, which sourcecode is under GPL since a short time.
It will be ported for 68K and PPC-Amigas, while Amiga University will take care of the organisation and the communication
for this project and publish all questions, reactions and problems concerning it.
If anyone is interested and wants to take part the stable version of the SQL-Code can be downloaded at
http://www.mysql.com/downloads/mysql-3.22.html.
Then you can compile it for 68k and PPC with the compiler of your choice. The resultand of your experiences can be sent to
Amiga University to be tested by others. In addition you should write down which compiler you used, the system you were running it on
and for the machine you compiled it for.
On the site are some older PPC-Binaries for IBM AIX OS, too, that possibly can help you with a PPC-Port.

Interesting are the comments, where the entire "anti Amiga league" seems to
have gathered. I can understand that many people just lost their faith in a new
Amiga, but I cannot understand the sometimes totally unqualified comments full
of arrogance of some whippersnappers who probably worked in the end with an A500.

Heise: Internet-TV via Metabox for France
«Met@box AG, the Settop-Box producer from Hildesheim, Germany, within a few weeks now got
the third bulk order. This company both, develops and distributes so called Settop-Boxes basing on
OS/2 that make a surf terminal out of the telly.
This time the French Worldsat S.A.R.L. form Aix-en-Provence signed a basic agreement on 500.000 boxes.
Met@box terms the value of this deal with 400 million DM. Worldsat wants to distribute the boxes in
France, as well as in three countries in northern Africa, and wants to organize a stage for e-commerce,
at the same time. Together with this deal it was agreed to manufacture the devices in France from 2001.

Da Cool Installer v 1.7 released
After two years there is a new update for Da cool Installer released on the
homepage of Airsoft Softwair. For real it is a complete new program, because
I coded the old Da Cool Installer new (for stability reasons).Version 1.7
should be nearly bugfree and I quote from the Voyager-readme "stable as a rock".
Da Cool Installer is a general installer for games/demos etc. It supports ECS
emulation, trackdisk.device emulation, and several bootmodi. In theory you can
install easily every AmigaDOS game to harddisk.

Alpha release: Audiomaster 2000 v0.45a
Audiomaster 2000, the sample editor, has been released as version 0.45a. The program by
Frank "Fenny" Fenn will be released as Shareware, therefore this demo version does not
allow saving. (ps)
Extreme version 2.0 released
Registered users can use their keyfile for this version, all others will have demo mode
only. Bippy, the first Extreme plug-in was also updated. (ps)

Back to the Roots - update
Today we present you after a long time an update of Back to the Roots. The last
months were very stressful for us.
There are some new legal games for download at BTTR. One of the new companies
supporting us is Vivid Image and they have produced the classic game "The First Samurai".
But more interesting should be the cooperation with Vulcan Software for you. Every
month Vulcan Software will present one of their games of their mini series for
download. The debut game of Vulcan Software "Valhalla and the Lord of Infinity"
will be the first one. Also there are many new games, demos, pics, and new mods.

Remark:
I know some of the Amiga users are wondering about the ADF-format of our games.
For those who do not know there is a little tool named "TransADF" that you can
use to rewrite the games onto a disk like with DMS. Through a Aminet-gateway you
can reach the Aminet via BTTR. This gateway is not only a gateway it offers also
some special features like for example a forum function so you can discuss about
every single file on the Aminet. (ps)
Open Amiga Foundation update
John Chandler talks about the Open Amiga Foundation, that non-commercial organisation that deals with
free convertable developments based on the AmigaOS. He has a special eye on the present project "AROS Lite".

Video of »Fun Of Computing NG«
The video of the »Fun Of Computing NG« can now be downloaded. You can see in this
video for example the AmigaSDK, Tales of Tamar, SoundFX 4.0, the Lottery, and, of
course, Petro Tyschtschenko. The length of the video is approximately 5 minutes.
Additional to some bugfixes the calculation routine was made faster, among other things.
Now projects can be saved and of course reloaded. Though the programm still is in beta stage, it runs stable and almost error-free.

Lame V3.84 Beta
On June, 30th 2000 v3.84 beta of the MP3 Encoder "Lame" has was released.
Lame now uses a shared library version of libsndfile. Other changes can be found inside the

Hassan ´Karajorma´ Kazmi has started a series about past, present and future of the Amiga.
The second part (titlelink) tells about that the new AmigaOS differs definite from the current OS and that
therefore one should not rate it before he has realize the ideas behind the new AmigaOS.

Appe V3 - Connecting Playstation Pad to CD32
With the above Aminet archive Benjamin Morente describes how to build a hardware interface that allows to use
a standard digital Pad for the Playstation with all Amigas. This solution emulates a joystick with two firebuttons as well
as a CD32 Pad and even works with other computers using a 9pol joystick port (e.g. Commodore 64, MSX, Spectrum (needs
joystick interface), Amstrd CPC, Atari, and similar).
Textviewer: Next V2.9
Jürgen Klawitter released version 2.9 of his textviewer "Next". Among other things, this new version has a definite improved
"Word" import function, as well as support for additional packer formats.
Beside its function as a textviewer Next even suites as Amigaguide replacement, HTML Offline Browser, Datatypes Viewer, Decruncher,
Archive Unpacker, Printer Utility, and some more.
The archiv with the programm will soon be released at Aminet and is straight away even available on a new (by now still somewhat provisional)

FreeCiv version 1.12 released
Freeciv is a turn-based multi-player strategy game, released under GNU General Public
Licence. It can be compared to Civilisation II® by Microprose®.
Heise: LinuxTag: Corel releases CorelDraw for Linux
"Corel, Canadian graphics software specialist turned Linux distributor, is sometimes
good for a surprise other than bad sales reports. On the LinuxTag, Corel already
presented its Linux graphics suite CorelDraw 9 (booth 5.1.1.9). While it was previously
said the package will probably be released in autumn, Friday night the Corel HQ in
Canada gave it´s OK: CorelDraw 9 for Linux is now released, and will hit the shelves
in two to three weeks, however not for free. The image processor Photo-Paint, on
the other hand, is already free for download."
Chrystal Interactive Software News - Part 1 Part 2
Michael Carrillo has visited C.I.S. and wrote a summary report with added screenshots,
with news e.g. on the adventure games "Gilbert Goodmate" and "Mushroom of Phangoria".
Thomas Lorenz: It should be noted that Crystal
will only port Gilbert Goodmate to the Amiga if their second project "Dark Millenia" is sold
at least 1000 times (or at least 1000 people state their interest, e.g. by
e-mail). It is also mentioned that a
"desaster" as with FusionPPC can hopefully be avoided!

Vote for AmigaOne CPU at ArsTechnica
Because of the GamersDepot article, ArsTechnica
put a poll for the new AmigaOne CPU online. You can choose between: Alpha - PowerPC -
MIPS - x86 and Sony´s Emotion Engine + GS combo. Currently the Alpha seems to make it.
New ppclibemu
ppclibemu is an emulation of the ppc.library and the PowerUP kernel under WarpOS.
An own ELF LoadSeg patch is included, and allows many (some?) PowerUP-applications
to run just like in the original environment. Those apps that run show no feelable
speed penalty. Some are even faster than with the original kernel.
New in v0.8: PortLists, PPCFindTask, PPCFindTaskObject, PPCSignalTask, PPCDeleteTask.
Please try which of the two runs better with installed PowerUP software, A or B?

Update of the homepage, and new domain names
Not only the design has changed - our domain has changed, too. The old domain name
www.amigadev.de will be transferred to Amiga Inc. in the next couple of days.
We decided to take this step because the domains amigadev.COM and amigadev.NET were
already owned by Amiga Inc., and we therefore confused some users, who of course thought
that amigadev.DE would be the German counterpart to amigadev.COM. To put an end to this
confusion, and to give Amiga Inc. the opportunity to create German pages under amigadev.DE,
some days ago we ordered our web hoster to transfer the domain name to Amiga Inc.
The .DE domain will lead you to the German pages, and the .COM domain to the English ones.
Since the English pages are not yet finished, both domains lead you to German pages for the
time being.
New RC5 client
A new RC5 client for Amiga is available from the download area.
Myzar has already been partially converted, but
some features of the new client are not yet available.
