ZDNet: CeBIT Home cancelled
"This year there will be no CeBIT Home. This was confirmed to ZDNet by the Deutsche Messe AG on Thursday.
The press spokesperson of the Deutsche Messe, Eberhard Roloff, said: "The quality aspect is unreasonable

The Computer and Multimedia Show CeBIT Home, planned for this late summer in Leipzig, has been cancelled.
The Deutsche Messe AG in Hannover has decided to call the show off due to the bad exhibitor numbers. The
whole concept of a multimedia show addressing the private user is to be rethought. Only a few days
before, the Messe AG has stated that they wanted to stick with the show concept this year, too.
It would have been the third CeBIT Home. Because of the World Exposition Expo 2000 in Hannover, Leipzig
was chosen as alternative. Several well-known exhibitors were missing two years ago already. Back then,
586 exhibitors were attending. The number of visitors declined from 200,000 to about 180,000."
Digital Images News
Despite the fact it has been quiet around DI in recent months, some extraordinary developments
have been made within DI, and the product line has been changed.
For one it can be announced that Digital Images will port "Wipeout 2097" to the Apple Mac!
Exact release dates will be announced shortly.
Unter the working titles "Conflict", "Sabrina Offline" and "Millenium Surprise", new games
are under development, while "Space Station 3000", "Kijitsu Warriors" and "Digital Soccer"

Well...
Again several days passed without any update to this site; while news upon news
were posted to the main page. Yes, I have been busy (moving to my girl-friendīs
place); and no, thatīs no excuse for the English section being delayed again
and again and again.
Starting June 1st, I will retire as maintainer of this site. Martina Jacobs
will take over.
This is not a "coup dīetat", I will continue participating in amiga-news.de.
However I came to realize that I couldnīt keep up with translating four days
a week; editing the translations done by Jerry, Guido and Ruediger; creating
(and checking) the HTML code; uploading the pages; and of course doing all the
"mundane" work... Martina and myself are trying to come up with a solution that
will keep the English pages closer to the German ones.

Phase 5 is sending cards back
In several e-mails we recieved, and in several forums it can be read that Gerald Carda is obviously
sending back cards send in for repair by customers. The first cards have already reached their owners.
So there seems to be hope that customers will get their cards back, some unrepaired, but better
than nothing.

Radwar pictures
At the title link, you can find pictures from the Radwar Party 2000. The pictures were all
taken by members of the demo group "Haujobb", and are accordingly "freaky" (at least some
of them). Manfred Trenz can also be seen on one pic. Here the direct link to the Radwar 2k

An information on the site "Slengpung" in general. This is a project by "Haujobb", and
here you find pictures from many demo parties and similar happenings - from older parties,
too (e.g. the previous Radwar parties).
New status report on Payback
A new status report for Payback has been released, stating that the title screen is now
fully functional, players can save their game and beta testers are enthusiastic. Additionally,
the author has updated the Payback information site.
AFD-COPYRIGHT News!
Itīs time again for some news on the "Standard Amiga FD-Software Copyright Note" (TM) project,
or "AFD-COPYRIGHT" (TM) for short.
This copyright note is an offer to all Amiga developers who want to release FD Software, be it
Freeware, Giftware, Shareware or whatever. 4 new translations have already been published this
year. AFD-COPYRIGHT is now available in seventeen (17!!!) languages - in two formats each, plain
text or HTML file.
The latest addition is the Brazilian-Portugueese translation by Daniel Mealha Cabrita and
Gustavo Sarmento by the ATO. The files can be downloaded from the official support site for
AFD-COPYRIGHT (title link).
OpusSMBHandler version 1.0 released
With this ARexx script OpusMagellanII gets access to the Windows network environment.
It enables the basic functions like browse, copy, rename and also enables access to
password-protected functionalities. WARNUNG: Due to the relatively useless Amiga ports
of Samba it might not work correctly or not at all, depending on your system! No guarantees
given! If you are interested, or even want to add own improvements, feel free to do so!
APC&TCP: Faces of Mars
At the Amiga-show in Neuss (germany) APC&TCP release again a cd-rom for
Amiga with the Name Faces of Mars 2001:
fom2001 is the cd-rom collection of the Faces of Mars-pd-series. The best of
the over 500 disks can be found on this shareware-CD-ROM. All programms are
tested under OS 3.5. The games, programms, pictures, animations, mods and
texts can be found in these main-drawers: 1982 (classic games), Babylon 5,
Esotherik, Fantasy, FOM, Games, History, Jokes, Mathematics, Misc, Science,

CD32 Games Install Kit Version 3.5 NG released
The latest version of the CD32 Games Install Kit has been released on the Airsoft Softwair
homepage. This is the first public release since over two years. The CD32 Games Install Kit
installs over 120 CD32/CDTV games to hard drive and makes them executable from there. It
offers a stable CD32 emulation mode that emulates many CD32 extensions, e.g. cd.device,
NV RAM.
Version 3.5NG was considerably improved, bugfixed and optimized. It can now downloaded from
the Airsoft Softwair homepage. The extra programs, icons and additional kits will be

KDH stops distributing Alive Mediasoft products
Starting immediately, KDH Datentechnik stops distributing Amiga games published and distributed
by the English company Alive Mediasoft. We wrote to the company demanding clarification why the
CD Goal2000 only includes the old Goal game (with cracker intro). Moreover we requested proof that
a license is available for all published games. If the situation can be solved positively, we will
resume distribution.

Trogladite Software: Awards 2000
The pages of Trogladite Software were
unavailable for some time because of CGI problems and are now online again after a complete
redesign. The first bigger event are the awards of this year.
While one website award was given last year, this year Trogladite Software offers five

KATO Development Group News
In about a month, the Melody 1200 pro will be available again. Distribution will be
handled mainly by the KATO Development Group, but also through other dealers. The
Unity will be a bit delayed and thus also the Melody for Zorro 2 bus.
Why Twister 1200 and no other solution? The difference lies in the details. Technical
background can be read on the KATO Development Group Website. KATO will be pleased
to answer any questions you might have.
AmiDog: New emulator MESS and MAME update
Two new pages about the emulators MAME and MESS went online on the AmiDog homepage.
Both programs are available in new versions, although there are no big changes. Mathias
Roslund has decided to take over the development of the two emulators after nothing
new has been released of them in a long time.
OpusMI Update released
OpusMI - second update (5th release). A collection of icons and images for DOpus and other
programs in GlowIcon design with more than 90 new and reworked icons and a new FTP
startmenu, as well as new default icons for DOpus Magellan II.

Goal2000! purchase risks, Alive-Mediasoft maintains silence
Tom Crecelius writes in ANF:
I have purchased the game Goal2000! from Alive-Mediasoft some weeks ago. After
receiving the CD, I noticed an error on the CD. Not Goal2000! is on the CD, but
only Goal!. After decrunching the "Goal2000-1.DMS" archive to disk and booting it
up, an intro appears with the contents: "Goal! - The Championchip League. Broken
by Q.U.A.R.T.E.X in 1993"!!
When the menu appears, it is entirely obvious that this is Goal! and not Goal2000!.
Despite multiple attempts to get into touch with Alive-Mediasoft via mail and
despite former (before I had payed) good mail contact I couldn't get a reply
from Alive-Mediasoft up to this day. Maybe they will now reply...
So be careful if you are interested in "Goal2000!".
Heise: New PowerPCs expected this summer
«According to reports of the US press, IBM wants to release a new family of
PowerPC processors that do not only offer higher clockrates (up to 700 MHz), but
especially have an integrated L2 cache of 256 KByte. Because of their reasonable
power usage, the in 0,18-µm copper technique manufactured G3 processors

Boing Bag 2 News
Martin Steigerwald wrote to the AmigaOS 3.5 ML: "About news to Boing Bag 2 (second update
to AmigaOS 3.5), I can only tell you that it is under development. There are some bugs
left to fix. It is to be released as soon as possible, but at first we have to fix the
known bugs so we cannot give a release date yet."
WARNING: DiskCopy v44 does not work correctly with partitions beyond 4 GB, and can even
lead to data loss. It is as of now untested if Format v44 can lead to problems. A certain
caution is adviced. Boing Bag 2 will contain fixed versions.
Intermediate status report / new web and e-mail addresses
The fact that I have not yet released new updates for ArtecScan, FMdriver, CGXBlanker,
PPCjpeg etc. does not mean I have cancelled the projects! On the contrary: many new
improvements are already planned, some even already implemented - I am lacking the time
necessary for completing them. The reason: Right now I have numerous other (Amiga related)
tasks to tend to.
Nevertheless there are some changes: My homepage is now available at the new domain
www.qdev.de. Starting immediately, my new e-mail
address is also valid: stefan.robl@qdev.de.
The old addresses will remain valid parallely for a long time, however I suggest adjusting
the bookmarks / address books now.
As a small gimmick, my homepage has another (hardware) photography - of a Zorro II autoconfig
board for the A500, which I built/developed years ago. There will be news about this within
the year. More about it later... :)
xpkGZIP for WarpOS
Since the asyncio.library has been ported to WarpOS, I ported the GZIP module for Xpk to WarpOS,
which performed very well even under 68k.
It offers fantastic compression and decompression speeds, and currently is the best and fastest
Xpk packer for the Amiga. Due to the extremly good performance, it is the perfect module of choice
for the Xpk filesystem. Compression with up to 750 kB/sec. and decompression with about 5 MB/sec.,
with compression rates of about 80% are possible! It has been uploaded to Aminet.
Moreover, the icon contest for Digital Almanac is over. Winner is Dieter Klisch. Congratulations!
The graphics will soon be on display on the DA homepage.
Update of the X-Server for Linux m68k
On my homepage, you will find a manual for updating the X-Server and including the tool Xconfigurator
for Linux_m68k in general. Xconfigurator is a tool to create a XF86Config under Linux, which is needed
for the X Window System. In addition, you can order the Linux_m68k CD-ROM here. At the link above,

APC&TCP will release a further new product on the fair in Neuss, Germany, for the Amiga. It will
be a CD-ROM of the Scene Archives series. The volume 10 of this series is filled with scene material

Theme of the title page is Turboboards - More power for Amigas (tests of 68k and PPC
turboboard reviews). Raytracing pictures would be nice, but pictures with 2D effects

Paolo Cattani finished a last update for his F1 simulation "Virtual GP". In addition
to other things, the new update offers an arcade mode in which it is much easier

PowerOS - Open Source Part 2
Claus Hermann beginnning of May announced that the project because of
lack of time and resources has come to a halt, and he therefore has decided
to release the soucecode and continue with the project on an open source
basis. Claus has now started the second phase of this ans now writes:

modified. "How is this OpenSource supposed to work", you may be asking
yourself. Very easy. Anyone that is interested just needs to write an email
to developer@poweros.de.
Many have asked if that is it for PowerOS. No, naturally not. This is only
the first phase of the project. I am trying with this project to reach as
many people as possible. Even the normal non-programming user is welcome,
for things such as ideas and other input. With this PowerOS will not be a
simple clone of AmigaOs, but somthing new, indepentant and better.

Convention Newsletter
On May, 19th the Convention Newsletter goes to the printer with a 60,000
circulation. With that is is the most widely circulated print adveretising
for the Amiga market. The distribution is done through diverse print media,
via direct mailings, and via the participating vendors of the World of

Haage-News for the Convention
Amigawriter 2.0 is coming. It took quite a while, but the time is near. The
expanded version of Amigawriter will soon hit the market. Highlights are
Word-Import, TrueType font support and Broshure printing. Afteffekt 4.0 is
also to appear at the convention. Version 4 of this popular graphic program
has many new features and enhancements. Special attention was given to the
layer functions, that are now very flexible and powerful. A new Manual and
CD-Rom with fonts, cliparts and workshops completes the package.

Troubleshooting list for Heretic II
A hint from playamiga.de: With such a complex program
like Heretic II, and so many different Amiga systems, there have to be problems. Especially
for this, Hyperion published a Troubleshooting list (title link), dealing with the subject
and making suggestions for tweaking performance.
ProStationAudio
ProStationAudio Remix is available. This version contains all features of the
Millenium version, but is limited to two tracks. This version is therefore the
perfect sollution for DJs and/or MP3- or CD-collections. Remix contains all necessary
tools to process music files. More details at the title link.
SoundFX 4.0 on the 'World of Alternatives'
On the Amiga show in Neuss, 'World of Alternatives', I will be able to present version 4.0
of SoundFX. At the same time, the software will be available for download from my homepage.

Heise: Apple demonstrating dual CPU Macintosh
"On the so-called hardware keynote on Appleīs World Wide Developers Conference, Appleīs

G4 with dual PowerPC-7400 CPUs. The two stressed that the system is only a technology
demonstration. It is not a product announcement, not even a product promise. So, the system

Infos for prejudiced phase5 customers

This was posted to the Bulletin Board. Yes, there it is, in English, and for

ATC v1.1 prerelease 8
On May, 9th 2000 the prerelease 8 of version 1.1 of the FTP-client AmiTradCenter is published.

Asimware with new website
The great AsimCDFS seems to be gone! Asimware recreated their homepage, and there
is nothing to be seen of AMIGA products! Only HotBurn!
We asked Asimware about it, and yesterday recieved this answer from
Richard Giannini: "We will have the downloads for AsimCDFS and MasterISo return shortly. The download code has to be rewritten to fit the new web site structure. I apologize for the confusion."

Tiny-GhostScript-Manager version 1.09 released
The Tiny-GhostScript-Manager is available from my homepage in version v1.09, enabling
to view and print GhostScript files comfortably from file managers (e.g. RO).

Due to provider setup, direct links are not possible.
For LightWave and the Video Toaster there are three boards each: support,
feature request and product information. For Aura, Inspire, Calibar and the
Classic Amiga Video Toaster/Flyer there's one discussion board each.
The CD runs on Amiga and PC and contains more than 250 games, among them about 30
commercial games. Among the highlights are Beneath a Steel Sky, Ports of Call, Lethal

WarpJPEG.datatype V44.11
Oliver Roberts published version V44.11 of his WarpJPEG datatype on May 7th. This
datatype displays JFIF and JPEG images. The following changes have been made since
version 44.10:
GoldED Studio Service Pack 17 available
For registered users of GoldED Studio, the service pack 17 is now available for download.
New features are the toolbar registers
which are already supported by many older extensions that have been properly updated.
The email extension now offers spell checking and is opened on the topmost screen. Also, the
syntax highlighting was improved.
Service pack 17 also offers a faster project plug-in and a standardized interface for
spell checking.
Remarks on asyncio.library V40
First of all many thanks for the positive response to the new library!
I haven't expected one misunderstanding, though, which I'd like to put right.
The 68k functions are NOT faster under WarpOS! You only get the speed increase
if you call the new PPC functions from a PPC!!
The reason is the context switch! If you would access the PPC from the 68k side,
you'd get a switch every time that would slow down the system! In this case the
library would be even slower. Existing programs that run under WOS would have to
be adapted for the new PPC functions!
I hope I haven't killed the entire euphoria, but the many feedbacks regarding this
make this correction necessary. If somebody has any interest, I would be glad about
a V40 version for PowerPC. Sadly, I can't realize that (yet).
Foundation - The Undiscovered Land Epic Marketing published on May 12th, 2000 detailled
informations about the Foundation Mission CD "The Undiscovered Land" on their project pages. The
CD will be available by the end of may.

CD32 Alliance News
Who knows his stuff with CDXL? Since our next issue of the CD32 Outside
CD32 Alliance is all around "CDXL", we are looking for users who know this animation format, perhaps even created
their own animations for it or converted other animation formats like MPEG, AVI, Quicktime or Anim
into a CDXL animation.

Exodus under license
Aside from Alien Nations,
Titan Computer also licensed the realtime strategy game Exodus.
This game is being developed exclusively for Amiga. The demo version is 5.93 MB (packed).
clickBOOM: S-files #4
The adventure Nightlong, which spans 3 CDs, is going into final testing stage. At
clickBOOM it was already successfully played
under AmigaOS 3.5. The CDs contain the animation sequences in low and high resolution.
The high one is for PPC and 060 systems, the small one for 040 and 030 Amigas.
The Amiga port of the game classic "Z" by the Bitmap Brothers is 50% ready. The port
is very difficult, since Z is written in Assembler, but the most difficult part is done.
akDatatypes Updates
On May 13th, Andreas Kleinert has released new
versions of the following akDatatypes: akJFIF v44.79 68k/PPC (2000-5-13), akPNG v44.79
68k/PPC (2000-5-13), akTIFF v44.79 (2000-5-13), akNAIL v44.11 68k (2000-5-13).

AminetGUI now with AULA (Aminet UpLoad Archive)
The Aminet-GUI has a new feature! Starting immediately is AULA (Aminet UpLoad Archive). This
is an archive containing the weekly upload lists. They can be sorted by date or directory. As a
special service, I will also offer the so-called Top Aminet UpLods. These are uploads I
described briefly. They can also be found on the AmigaFuture
homepage, since I create them on their behalf.
Amster version 0.6 released
The Amiga Napster client
"Amster">
is now available for Aminet download as version 0.6. Napster is a community
for trading MP3 files using a special client featuring chat, search, download,
announcement lists etc.
The Amiga version offers multithread downloads with priority options, and more.
The program requires AmigaOS 3.x, MUI 3.8+, MCC_NList 19.97+ and MCC_Lamp 11.1+.
Atari-Lynx emulator: Handy v1.05
On May 12th, Mathias Roslund released the Amiga version v1.05 of Keith Wilkins' Atari Lynx
emulator "Handy". With this release, the Amiga version closes the gap to the Windows version.
The Amiga version is based on Handy v0.70 and offers high compatibility. It supports the CD32
joypad, running on CGFx screen modes with a resolution of 320x200. Some of the changes since
the last version:
Handy requires an Amiga with PPC board, WarpUP v4.0+, 16 MB RAM, AGA or CGFx. Additionally, the
lynxboot.img file is required.
The handheld game console "Lynx" (with color screen) was developed by R.J. Mical, Dale Luck and
others for Epyx. Distribution was done by Atari. It was released at the same time as the Nintendo
Gameboy, but was not successful due to the higher price and lower run time, due to the color
display.
AmigaTalk v1.5
AmigaTalk version 1.5 is a GUI version of 'Little Smalltalk' (v1.0 by Tim Budd) for Amiga
systems, enabling using almost all Intuition and some OS functions from SmallTalk. It is
being worked upon supporting more OS functions, but AmigaTalk is far from being complete.
However the system is stable, and additionally contains a collection of test files as well as
a detailed documentation.
AmigaTalk requires AmigaOS v3.5+, a CPU 68040+ and 2 MB free drive space. Additionally, DeckBrowser
from InovaTronics is required. The author offers to send the CanDo libraries or the DeckBrowser
upon request.
Smalltalk is a programming language developed in the 80ies
by Alan Kay at Xerox,
and is considered being THE OOP language.
Submission: Interested in gfx module for DKB Wildfire?
Since the "Inferno" gfx card for the 68060 accelerator "Wildfire" from DKB was not
produced, and as a reaction to many discussions on the Wildfire mailinglist on possible
alternatives, a survey has been started at the title link to judge how many are interested
and which features are wanted.
This does not come with a promise that something will be produced, or any company be
contacted.
A new version of SWOS is ready and could be released in time for Euro 2000, but ALIVE Mediasoft
is lacking the time to get all the team and player names into the program. If there is somebody
willing to help, perhaps the game could be released in time.
Independantly, a new version will appear for the next UK season in August.
All known mistakes have been released and the layout as well as the offline version been improved. The
content itself remained unchanged.
The TTF tutorial shows how to use TrueType fonts on the Amiga using the TTF-Library. Additionally, it
also contains links to the library and font collections.
Mr. Amiga Poll - with troubles
Sadly there have been problems with the vote for Mr. Amiga. Everybody who already participated
(or did not yet), again has the opportunity to do so and win a price.
Aminet-GUI now banner-free again
Alexander Kurtz writes:
Due to me doing my military service in the Luftwaffe starting May 1st, 2000, only now I saw
that Prohosting has changed their rules and is now placing a banner to every page ending on
.html or .htm.
These banners sadly destroyed the looks, if not the usability of the GUI. Due to my military
service I was able to react only now. The GUI should be free again of Prohosting banners in all
important frames. So it is again possible to navigate the page, and make use of it.
I want to say sorry to all visitors of my site, and warmly invite you to visit my site again
as frequently as before. Soon I will create an archive saving the upload lists, so they can
be saved for reference. I can NOT check them for obsolete files, however, but would welcome
hints.
Again I want to stress that I am maintaining the GUI all alone, and that I am still looking
for someone interested in assisting me, since my online time is right now limited to weekends.

HomeLand demo version v2.0
For the realtime strategy game Homeland, demo
version 2.0 is available for download. This new version offers a faster conversion from chunky
to planar for AGA, by using the CPU instead of the slower blitter. Also new are new buildings
and technical devices including graphical effects like transparency, explosions and more.
This is complemented by many other improvements.
This demo version offers a campaign consisting of two missions.
Confusion about ATC v1.1
While uploading the final version v1.1 of the FTP client AmiTradeCenter
to Aminet there was a delay, giving the impression the archive was not uploaded successfully (while, in fact,
it was successful). Due to this confusion, another beta version of ATC v1.1 (prerelease 8) was published
on the programīs homepage. Please simply think of this as prerelease 1 of ATC v1.2.
asyncio.library v40 with WarpOS
Many developers know it - the "asyncio.library", which can significantly speed up media access
by asynchronous transfer. It is now available with WarpOS support, while being 100% compatible
with v39, and still being usable with a pure 68k. The disk access with WarpOS functions is
about twice as fast as with 68k functions.
The archive is freeware. Developers wanting to use the new library can use the archive for
free. An Aminet upload will follow (util/libs).

OpusMI with new homepage
The "Mason.Home" homepage recieved a general update. Among others, it is
now possible to download the archives "OpusMIupd" and "GlowFlags"

SDK for PageStream
Deron Kazmaier is currently assembling a developer package for third parties, which will
enable the development of expansions (like filters, printer drivers, bitmap effects, speech
and scanner modules etc.) for the DTP software "PageStream" by
SoftLogik.
There will probably a fifth mailinglist being opened for this, targeted on questions and
developer support. Additionally, SoftLogik is looking for help improving the documentation
and the examples of the SDK as well as clarifying what is needed in such a developer
package.
RB2Exe v1.0 released
The long awaited Rainboot add-on RB2Exe has just been released on the Airsoft Softwair homepage.
RB2Exe enables you to convert standard Rainboot configurations into standalone programs (executables).
The programs are then running on all Amiga systems with OS2.04+. This way, you can easily create
your own multimedia presentations!

This is the first Amiga Gay Magazine. It is in a very early stage of completion.

"Bill Gates, father and Chief Software Architect of Microsoft, takes the
lightning fast spreading of the e-mail worm ILOVEYOU as an opportunity to warn

Simon II can be sold more than 1000 times!
It could be read on diverse news sites that, according to Epic, Simon the Sorcerer II
should only be sold 1000 times. This is definitely untrue! (Source: Epic Germany, Mr.
Thomas Steiding.)
Sadly, the message that Simon II has already been mastered and is due for release in
about two weeks is also untrue. In fact a release is scheduled for the show in Neuss,
but this cannot be guaranteed.
New Movieshop tools from Elastic Images
The īDropout-Killerī can now be downloaded from my homepage. The program repairs corrupted
pictures in scenes by extracting a half-picture from the previous and successing picture
each, creating a new picture from them and inserting it at the corrupted position in the scene.
Also, the tips & hints page has been updated (on this subject).
The Pulse issue 13
Issue #13 of "The Pulse" will contain a preview of "SWOS Euro 2000", which will be released
next week. The game "Goal 2000/2001" is announced for August.
MultiRen version 1.3 released
With this useful tool by OnyxSoft, you can comfortably rename multiple files at once.
Required are Kickstart 2.04+ and MUI. On the website you will find a lot of these small,
but not-to-be-missed helpers.

News on THF
After some months of development, the multiplayer add-on "The Heretic Fortress" for
Heretic II is finally finished (actually it had been for a while already, but I did
not find the time for an announcement). THF bases on the latest source from the PC
version of THF, v4.5, and supports joining PC- as well as Amiga-servers. It will be
released in time with Heretic II.
The requirements are the same as with Heretic II (PowerPC, WarpOS v4 installed,
64 MB RAM, hard drive, CD-ROM). Warp3D support is optional (since THF is based
on the Heretic II engine). The full version of Heretic II has to be installed.
Hyperion will port "Alien Nations" to Amiga
Hyperion Software announces they will port the strategy game "Alien Nations" by Jowood to
Amiga. The PPC version supports WarpUP (Warp3D support optional). If possible, an 68k
version will be created too.
Image Engineer CD finished
The CD with Image Eingineer is finished and can be ordered now. Details, and some free ARexx
scripts for Personal Paint 7 can be found at the title link.
YAMI 4 available
YAMI is a small hardware interface enabling most serial PC mice to be connected to
the Amiga. In the Shredzone, the Amiga mouse interface YAMI can now be ordered in
version 4. Changed from the predecessor, true wheel support has been added; a
commodity now handles the conversion to NewMouse compatibe events. Also new is the
interface being shipped fully assembled, removing the need for soldering. :-)
Owners of YAMI 3 can update to YAMI 4 for free, as promised. Only the costs of p&p
have to be covered, and some soldering be made.
PalmLink 2.0 with source
The latest version of PalmLink is available for download in the Shredzone.
Aside from several small improvements, the whole source code (under GPL)
is contained in the packet. I wonīt have the time to improve the library
any further, and I hope that someone else might do that job. :-)

PlayGui News
PlayGui update 2.8a is available on the website! Also, the site is now translated

is gone. AmigArt decided to put the translations
on hold, because only a few turkish readers made use of the service that required a

A/NES website with new design
The website of the A/NES emulator was completely reworked. Online registering
is now possible. To make planning the future of A/NES easier, there is a

New versions of SOPE and AmiGenerator
The new version of the Sony Playstation Emulator SOPE contains some bug fixes
of several MiniGL issues. The update for the Sega MegaDrive/Genesis Emulator
AmiGenerator fixes the Sonic 3D issue and others.

Amiga Flame asked Thomas Frieden of Hyperion Software some questions on games currently
under development, like SiN, Heretic2 and Shogo, as well as the cooperation with Amiga

PowerOS goes Open Source!
Claus Herrmann writes: Long time nothing new from the PowerOS team. With regret
I have to admit that I am simply lacking the time and manpower, which finally brought
the project to a halt. But to continue dreaming the dream of a PowerPC native OS,
I decided to make the whole project OpenSource. The sources will presumably be

Jetsoft Development Company offers a server for ICM profiles. Such profiles are used to
improve the color output on specially equipped systems (e.g. current Apple Macintosh computers or
Windows 98 and 2000 PCs). After a free registration, JetSoft transfers a password via email
that entitles you to freely download the profile files.»
Wolf Faust, known to Amiga users as programmer of the
Amiga printing driver program »Studio&H171; writes about it in the Heise forum:
Besides www.ProfileHelp.com there's also http://www.coloraid.de.
www.coloraid.de is still under construction, but you can already find there not only free
profiles, but also free software for the creation of profiles and cheap IT 8.7 calibration
images. The site is a portal for several programmers who work with color software in their
"free time".
More profiles for monitors and printers, as well as free software for the creation of profiles,
are in development (for years!) and should see the light of day one by one within the next months.
As there's no information about a shipping date on the Village Tronic homepage, we inquired
via email. Birgit Neumeier of VT confirmed that the ParaGlide module will be going into
production soon. "We are currently dealing with the many preorders and hope to finish
this in the next two weeks."

The soon coming update of CyberGraphX4 will contain a RainbowIII driver in addition to
corrections for Birdie and other fixes.

MUImp3 Alternative MUI for NCode
Meanwhile, MUImp3 is available in version 1.5 and I think I can now mention it in public ;).
MUImp3 is a MUI for the MP3 encoder NCode. MUImp3 uses the command cdda for reading
digital audio data (where supported by the drive) and can access the CDID files for
generating tags.
Thanks to ARexx, downloads from the internet are possible with the program ACDB. This all
is based on Arexx, MUIRexx and the rexxtricks.library. MUImp3 is available on Aminet
and on my website under »Projects«.
PlayGui News
From now on, the beta version 0.9 of the PlayGui add-on 'Skinner' is available on the website.
'Skinner' is a small tool that makes the selection of the installed skins easier.
Small Gui for GhostScript
Due to a discussion on the Voyager-mailinglist about APDF and GhostScript (about the complicated usage of GS via Shell and
command options or GS-commands) I decided to create a small GUI which solves this problem a bit.
At the moment only the showing and printing of EPS/PS/PDF-files is supported, but i will add the possibility to convert into

Lambda status report
The development of the Space 3D game makes good progresses. The author Mikko Kallinen:

Minor updates for PhotoFolio
PhotoFolio is the professional solution to catalogue, archive, and show pictures.
The program has features like different methods of sorting, gamma-correction, any number of
viewing-windows,and many more. It can be ordered via
Schatztruhe. On the website of the author (titlelink) you will find minor updates of the
different components.
AROS still alive
There is the rumour abroad that AROS is dead, that there is no further work on the project.

amiga.topcool.de: interview with Petro Tyschtschenko
"I will stand up for the further development of our OS 3.5" promises Petro Tyschtschenko, vice
president of Amiga, but also says that his influence on the business in the USA is not so big.
He also means that it is possible that on christmas the new TAO/Amiga-OS is maybe available.

Icons and images for DirOpus: OpusMI-update released
An update for OpusMI for DirectoryOpus 5.82 is now available for download on Aminet.
The archive OpusMIupd.lha contains images, icons for start menus and toolbars, a set
default icons for DirectoryOpus and more in GlowIcons style (for optical reasons,
the archive GlowFlags.lha from Aminet should be installed for the FTP button).
The main archive OpusMI.lha release 3 is still available on the authorīs homepage
and on Aminet.
BeNews: voting for Operating Systems
BeNews made a poll which operating sytsem users would like to try out soon.
Aside from BeOS, QNX Neutrino, MacOS X, Linux, BSD, WindowsME and AtariST,
ElateOS/Amiga was a possible vote.
When the German part of amiga-news.de posted this, ElateOS/Amiga was
ranked fourth with 8%. Only 24 hours afterwards, ElateOS/Amiga ranked 1st

The editors of
Amiga Future magazine are looking for highscores from old and new games, to make

Graphics contest at C&C extended until May 15th
Due to the high number of submissions and the fact that submissions are still coming in,
C&C has decided to prolong the deadline to May 15th. If you want to participate, you

New wheelsupport software for Mroocheck PC Mouse Interface
The new Mroocheck.driver ver.1.2 supports all the possible Amiga
graphic modes. The previous version of the Mroocheck.driver supported
only: PAL, NTSC, DbPAL, DbNTSC and all the modes in graphic cards.
The Mroocheck PC Mouse Interface sends information to Amiga on wheel
movements in the form of analogue signals. The internal A/C converters
built into Amiga are used to decode them.
The immense advantage of this solution is that wheel signal decoding
does not hog the computer's processor.
The Amiga A/C internal converters are based on counters of lines
of the image generated by Amiga's graphic chips.
The current driver update allows calibrating these converters for
any graphic modes.
News from Repulse
Work on the Amiga soundcard is making good progress. The new prototype is working
flawlessly, and a first picture can be seen on the
introductionary page.
Great new features like S/P-DIF out with 24bit/96 kHz are also available.

Since the release date for the Amiga Developer System draws closer and closer, AMIGA has
created an open mailinglist for programmers and graphic artists, which is meant to coordinate
the porting of applications and developer tools (mainly from the GNU/GCC area). Questions
will be answered by AMIGA support personel where possible. Attention: It is not
a "talk" list, and secret informations will not be disclosed there either.

AmiBroker 3.25 released
The newest update to AmiBroker 3.25 is available now for download. AmiBroker is leading technical analysis and portfolio management program for Amiga platform. It incorporates a powerful set of technical analysis tools, OLE Automation interface with rich command set, several options for quotation data import and a portfolio manager. The built-in AFL (AmiBroker Formula Language) interpreter has over 100 functions allowing you to build custom chart indicators, quickly search large databases and back-test your trading systems.
Support for Satelite VCR and Miami DeLuxe
INET_DIAL v3.61 now includes support for SATELLITE and VCR control as well as support for
MIAMI DeLuxe. INET_DIAL is an integrated Internet, "Dial-out" and "Dial-in" tool with control
features. This includes automated email features and X-10 Control of electrical appliances.
Control can be local, via the telephone or via the Internet.

Amiga Future interview with YAM author Marcel Beck
On the Amiga Future homepage ("AKTION" area) there is an interview with the author of YAM (German only).
Interesting parts are the statement that he will only ever support the platform he
is using himself - and that he will be waiting for the AmigaNG to be actually available
before deciding what to think of it.
Meaning, if itīs interesting enough for him we might be lucky to see a YAM NG... ;-) (mb)
StarGate becomes Freeware
With much considerations I have decided to release StarGate
as freeware to the Amiga community. The latest version v2.5
contains bug fixes and minor features. Additional features
have not yet been implemented and may not be in the future.
StarGate is premier email and news client for the Amiga.
It requires MUI v3.6 and greater.

GoldED Studio Service Pack 16 available
For registered users of GoldED Studio the Service Pack 16 is available for download.
Also available is a completely reworked Webworld plug-in. The HTML editor was expanded
by countless very useful functions.
I was of course especially interested in the new Webworld plug-in. It is very
intuitively, and proved to be an excellent and unique help in creating the HTML pages
for amiga-news.de after only a few minutes. Even the "old" Webworld plug-in was fine,
but the new one is much better yet! If I had to give it a grade, it would be an "A+" :-).

Progress Report for AmigaSIN
Thanks to the experience won with other ports, this port is making good progress, since
major parts of the code base can be recycled. There are first screenshots to see.
SNES9x GUI released
A new version of the SNES9x GUI has been released on the Airsoft Softwair homepage. Version 2.2
now also supports ChunkyPPC settings for the new, so far unreleased WarpSNES version.

TELE reports about Amiga
I just read issue 18/00 of the Swiss media magazine TELE, and on page 33 I found two articles:
"Comeback of the Amiga?" and "No April Foolīs joke". They come with a picture labeled: "Itīs
biggest advantage was it never crashed."
AmisED version 1.30 released
A new version of the text editor AmisED has been released. New is the full CyberGraphics support
and an improved C/C++ highlighting. Additionally, some bugs have been removed.

AminetGUI / Some private notes
Because I have to do my military service starting on May 1st, 2000, I can only reply to
questions in the forum or by mail on weekends only. Moreover, work on the Aminet-GUI will
be sparse. But here is a promise: The Aminet-GUI wonīt be closed. If it is possible, I
will continue with updates.
If somebody is interested in working as co-webmaster, please contact me. Right now is

Digital Almanac II Bugfix Update (1.8.15)
On the DA II homepage, a small update of DA II is available. It fixes a small bug miscalculating
the rising and setting times of planet moons (but not Earthīs moon).

Sharks! CD32 edition finished
"SHARKS! CD32 Edition" is finished, and will be shipped starting today. The game can
be easily ordered from me by e-mail.
The author mentions a price of ~15 Euro incl. p&p, but I think abroad shipments

"SHARKS! CD32 edition" also runs on AMIGAs with min. OS2.04, 2 MB RAM and CD-ROM.

Orbit version 0.4 released
On my homepage the latest version of Orbit, the freeware space combat simulator, is available
for download. Requires a fast PPC CPU and StormMesa/Warp3D. Keyboard and joystick control have
been implemented / improved.
AC3 decoder available
On the Frogger website, a new AC3 (Dolby Digital 5.1) decoder version 0.62 for PPC has been released.

AFD-Copyright News
Itīs time again for some news on the project "Standard Amiga FD-Software Copyright Note" (TM)
or, for short, "AFD-COPYRIGHT" (TM). This copyright note is an offer to all Amiga developers
wanting to release FD-Software, be it freeware, giftware, shareware or whatever.
AFD-COPYRIGHT is now available in sixteen (16!!!) languages - in two formats each, plain text
and HTML file. The latest addition is a Catalan translation by Llorenį Grau from the ATO.
The files can now be downloaded from the official support site for AFD-COPYRIGHT. The URL
is http://www.dknoll.myokay.net/AFD/ (title link).
The forwarding URL (http://AFD.home.pages.de/) is currently not available, because home.pages.de
is offline since April 28th. I recommend the home.pages.de adress for homepage links nevertheless,
because it will probably remain valid for some time to come.
Rainboot version 2.90 released
A major update to Rainboot has been released on the Airsoft Softwair website. Rainboot v2.90
offers a significantly improved WINDOW emulation mode, better sound and module code and much
more. It was moreover extremly optimized, and many bugs have been removed.

AmyGate version 1.10 released
AmyGate is the first internet-client that unites several services in one. Normally you need
many programs to have full access to the Aminet. First a browser to surf through the files and
archives, a FTP-program for uploads and a mailprogram to value the programs and to subscribe
and unsubscribe to mailinglists. AmyGate unites all these programs into one and gives you easy
and comfortable handling.
New manga@amiga page!
Now there is a manga@amiga site available! Mangas are (in general) japanese comiccharacters
that have special optical and charactical attributes. Normally you can recognize them with
their "big" eyes and and their long legs. Also the art of drawing, shadowing, effects of flare
are typical for this kind of comics. Known examples are Pokemon, Sailormoon and Dragonball.
If you follow the titlelink you will find a website, that only deals with mangas.

Attention: Because of the works on the Aminet from Friday till Monday most of the links
