We surfers all know this, we have found a file that we wanna have, but this file is very big and the server is awfully slow. Well, the guys from Downloadslave (http://www.downloadslave.com) know this situation, too. So they set up a service, that downloads the file for you and sends it to your email address. You will never have slow downloads again! A friend told me about this service and I decided to give it a chance, but I had to discover that the equest has to be send by mail, which is very uncomfortable. The PC lamers have a program called URLRequester, that writes the request mail and sends it to Downloadslave, but I haven't found a AMIGA program that does this, so I decided to write my own... The result is AmiURLRequester! The features of AmiURLRequester are: - a easy to use MUI GUI - you can import urls from the clipboard - a powerful rexx port - example rexx scripts - instructions how to bind AmiURLRequester into your browser - many other things that you have to discover yourself... :^) You'll need: - MUI 3.5 or higher - a tcp/ip stack - a big email account ;-) The following things are different in the demo: - there is an annoying requester that will appear at startup and quit, the requester blocks for 10 seconds - you can request only one url at a time - registred users get a personal keyfile - importing from clipboard is not available - no rexx port - no example rexx scripts - no shell interface - no instructions how to bind AmiURLRequester into your browser - no support mailing list - no locale support History: V1.0ß (28-11-98) - first release V1.0 (10-01-99) - "Request password" works now - maximum chars in the url input gadget is now 256 chars - urls, that were not requested are saved and at the next start of AmiURLRequester shown in the urls list. - replaced progressbar by a status line - fixed some minor bugs V1.01 (15-01-99) - fixed some heavy bugs V2.0 (10-7-99) - completly rewritten in C, bye bye good old ARexx - MUI GUI - decided to release it as shareware - import urls from clipboard - rexx interface - example rexx scripts - abort transfer button - improved menu and GUI - some bugs were fixed - catalogs are now used - many many other things... ============================= Archive contents ============================= Original Packed Ratio Date Time Name -------- ------- ----- --------- -------- ------------- 1233 595 51.7% 09-Jul-99 18:20:42 AmiURLRequesterDEMO.info 2634 1262 52.0% 09-Jul-99 18:21:14 +AmiURLRequester.readme 1396 725 48.0% 09-Jul-99 18:10:06 +AmiURLRequester.readme.info 51604 21839 57.6% 09-Jul-99 17:45:00 +AmiURLRequesterDEMO 1577 965 38.8% 09-Jul-99 18:06:46 +AmiURLRequesterDEMO.info 1233 820 33.4% 09-Jul-99 18:06:54 +Docs.info 9766 4092 58.0% 09-Jul-99 13:24:06 +AmiURLRequester.guide 1720 602 65.0% 09-Jul-99 18:10:48 +AmiURLRequester.guide.info -------- ------- ----- --------- -------- 71163 30900 56.5% 12-Jul-99 04:29:54 8 files
