You get three rolls of the dice per turn. After the third roll of the dice, you must enter your score. Of course, you can enter it after any roll if you desire. If you didn't roll a combination which you can write, then you must scratch a score. For this you get a zero. Sometimes it is advantageous to use a scratch instead of writing a score. The scoresheet is divided into 4 sections. ONES - 1 point for every 1 rolled TWOS - 2 point for every 2 rolled THREES - 3 points for every 3 rolled. FOURS - 4 points for every 4 rolled. FIVES - 5 points for every 5 rolled. SIXES - 6 points for every 6 rolled. (66645) 18 points TOTAL - The total of the above 6 BONUS - if the total is over 63, you get a 35 point bonus. TOTAL Lower - Sum of 3 of a Kind thru Yahtzee Bonus GRAND TOTAL - Total of Upper and Lower III. TIPS AND STRATEGY You need 63 points in the upper section to score a bonus of 35 points. This can be accomplished by rolling 3 of each of the scores in this section. Try and get 4 of a kind and use it in the upper section first. This will allow you more freedom to try for other things. For example if if you roll 4 sixes and write 24 for you sixes score, you will only have to get 2 threes, 2 twos and 2 ones. It is easier to get a large straight if you leave a 2345 showing and try to get a 1 or a 6. You have a 1 in 3 chance. Trying to roll a 4 if you leave a 1235 is a 1 in 6 chance. If you have to scratch a score and already have 63 in the upper section, scratch in the upper section. The hardest combinations to roll are Yahtzee, Large Straight and Four of a kind. Scratch these first if you have to.
