What is it? __________ _________ ________ _______ ______ _____ ____ ___ __ _ ASpringies is a simulator which allows you to interactively create and edit a system of masses and springs. The parameters of the masses and springs (such as mass elasticity and spring K) as well as those of the surrounding system (such as air viscosity and gravity) can be changed. These systems can be loaded and saved into a file. I guess you could use ASpringies for real work, but it's really intended to be a time waster. ASpringies is the Amiga port of the program 'xspringies' by Douglas DeCarlo. 2. Requirements __________ _________ ________ _______ ______ _____ ____ ___ __ _ Kickstart V37 (2.0) or above, of course If you want to use the screen mode requester, you must at least have asl.library V38 of Workbench 2.1. MUI (Magic User Interface, version 2.2 or above(1)) ASpringies' user interface is built upon MUI; since it is no longer allowed to distribute parts of MUI, you have to get and install it yourself. Please read the file 'ReadMe.mui' that came with ASpringies on how to obtain it. A Floting Point Coprocessor (FPU), or standard 68040 and above The differential equation solver of ASpringies does LOADS of number crunching. Without such a beast, ASpringies won't be able to perform animation at a reasonable speed. You may recompile the code for non-FPU systems, but don't expect much fun (2). ---------------- 1 ASpringies only makes use of features that were present in the first public release of MUI, but a recompilation under V2.2 now requires the user to have version 2.2 installed, too. 2 On my A4000/40, ASpringies spends about 80% of its cpu time in numerics, 15% are used for graphics rendering. I'd really love to see it on a 68060... 3. Installation __________ _________ ________ _______ ______ _____ ____ ___ __ _ Just drag ASpringies' drawer icon anywhere you like. Sorry for not supplying an Installer script. :-) 4. Caveats __________ _________ ________ _______ ______ _____ ____ ___ __ _ ASpringies' way of double buffering the animation screen isn't 100% system compliant. It works on any Amiga with the OLD, ECS or AGA chipset, but owners of additional graphics hardware should be careful. Set your graphics board to the most compatible intuition emulation or switch it to bypass mode. 5. Legal Stuff __________ _________ ________ _______ ______ _____ ____ ___ __ _ You may use ASpringies for a period of 3 (THREE) days, any usage of it after this period is STRICTLY FORBIDDEN, you are an outlaw and have to FEEL GUILTY if you continue using ASpringies after this period. To register ASpringies, send AT LEAST 50 Bucks to blah blablah blahblabla... STOP! NO WAY! Just kidding! ASpringies is FREE SOFTWARE (see below).
