Short: MUI based Config-Editor for UMS (bugfix!) If you ever wanted to modify a variable of the `ums.config' while another UMS-application was running, you would have noticed, that after having edited the `ums.config' with an editor, UMS wanted to restart the server. Hmm, what to do? Wait for the other program(s) to finish? Or stop them by quitting the server? Wait for UMSServer v11? Well, one solution's already there: ConfUMS! ConfUMS uses the internal functions of the ums.library for editing the `ums.config' - by doing so, the server doesn't have to be restarted after changes to the `ums.config'. ConfUMS lets you edit the vars via a singleline-, multiline- or listkind-editor in a comfortable and intuitive MUI-Environment. ConfUMS also distinguishes users who have sysop-status and "normal" UMS-users, letting sysops change the whole config while "normal" users may only access their own local settings (see also *Note Security::). With UMS-Server v10.33 or lower, editing facilities are limited to uservars only (those containing a period '.' in their name). But with version 11 of the server you will be able to change *everything* in your config without restarting the server. *BUT!* Development of Server v11 has been postponed until august '94, because the author, Martin Horneffer, stays in Norway doing some studies. So please be patient! Once v11 is available I will add some more features to ConfUMS, i.e. adding and deleting users, netgroups, aliases etc. But again: please be patient and wait for the new server!
