\weapon{Claudimorax}{Unknown}{Unknown}
{A heavy Longsword bearing a runic inscription of its name}
{Longsword}
{Vorpal sword+5 vs. Dragons.}

\weapon{The Destiny Blade}{Gods?}{Gods?}{Three gleaming silver blades stemming
from the one
hilt. The middle is of long sword length. The ones
on either side are slightly shorter but nearly
of the same length. A bright gem is inset on the hilt.
The hilt is large enough so that the weapon may be
wielded two-handed (if necessary). The whole is very
heavy and requires exceptional strength to be wielded
effectively.}{Despite its appearance, this magical
                           sword is much more effective than a
                           typical long sword.
                           Three to-hit dice rolls are required
                           one for each blade. \\

            Details: +2 (+4)* on each blade.
                      2d10 (4d10)* damage by each blade which hits
}{See Abilities below.}
{Wilson Herdman}\index{}\index{Destiny Blade}

{\bf Abilities} The sword is intelligent (17?) and generally
                   supports the cause of law and good. It was
                   designed and intended to deal with demons/devils
                   and their minions. ( This was how it was used in
                   the campaign we played.)
                   The sword is telepathic with its wielder though
                   its general attitude is to remain silent.
                  \tiny
                   * The statistics in brackets above apply when
                   the sword is wielded by a fighter with an
                   intelligence of 18+.
                   The key special ability of the sword is to fire
                   (as in missile weapon) the two secondary blades.
                   The sword is simply aimed in the direction desired
                   and told to fire. They will fly in a straight line
                   unless the weapon is wielded by a character of
                   intelligence 18+ in which case the blades can be
                   mentally guided to their target.
\normalsize

To be wielded at full effectiveness the character must
        have 18/00+ strength.
        An intelligence of 18+ is required to utilize the advanced
        features of the blade and doubles(*) the effectiveness with
        which the weapon is wielded.
        The blade was a Destiny gift to a young Barbarian (fighter)
        (Note: AD\&D first edition (before UA) circa 1980-81)
        Although of rather low initial intelligence (7) his
        destiny (after much adventuring) was to find a pool of magic
        where his mind was fully opened (INT raised to 18) and his destiny
        set before him. The group of characters (each of whom had found
        a "destiny gift" of some kind) then proceeded to defeat an
        invasion of the land by Hell's minions. (The characters were
        of 10-12th level at this point)
        This sword is loosely based on that in the movie the
        Sword and the Sorcerer (?). (I'm not absolutely certain).

        Example of damage range assuming 3 hits:

        3*((4d10+4) + 6) = 42 to 150 HP of damage.
        (when wielded by a character with 18/00 strength and 18 intelligence)

Upon wielding the sword all new things learned will be transmitted to the brain in the
pommel of the sword. This brain can be detached and worn as a pendant. If that pendant or
the sword (with the brain on it) is lost the user goes back to original experience before
they used the sword.
\weapon{Narsil/Anduril}
{Telchar}{Telchar?}{Longsword of the finest quality; the blade is engraved with
   7 stars between a rayed sun and a crescent moon (representing Elendil,
    Anarion, and Isildur, respectively)}{longsword +5}{Holy blade \\

the West''|see{Anduril}}

Narsil was wielded by Elendil in the Second Age; as was Aeglos,
    Narsil was broken when Elendil and Gil-galad battled, and were slain by,
    Sauron at the end of the Second Age. The shards of Narsil became an
    heirloom of the line of Isildur until they were reforged as Anduril in
    T.A. 3018. Anduril was wielded by Aragorn throughout the rest of the Third
   Age, and into the Fourth.

\weapon{Anglachel/Gurthang }{Eol}{Eol}
{ two-handed sword made of a black, meteoric iron (galvorn); when
    reforged as Gurthang, its edge shone with a pale fire}{two-handed sword +5}
{ unholy blade \\
   may be used one-handed at -2 to hit \\
   ignores opponent's armor (treat target as AC 10) \\
   inflicts critical hits on a "to hit" roll of 19-20 \\

   extraordinary ability: casts burning hands 3 times/day \\
  special purpose:  defeat good \\
   special purpose power:  fear \\
   Anglachel will try to dominate its wielder whenever it can; if it
        succeeds, it wil force its wielder into combat, and cause him to seek
        out and slay enemies of the blade \\ }{J.R.R. Tolkien}\index{}\index{Anglachel}\index{``Iron-Flame''|see{Anglachel}}\index{Gurthang}\index{``Iron of
Death''|see{Gurthang}}

 Eol created two twin blades (the other being Anguirel) of the iron
    galvorn, but both were corrupted by their maker's malice; Eol gave
    Anglachel to Elwe, which eventually contributed to his demise. Anglachel
    was later claimed by Turin, who reforged it as Gurthang. Turin, corrupted
    by the blade's power, used it in many senseless murders, until he turned it
   upon himself; the blade broke as he slew himself with it.

\weapon{Anguirel}{Eol}{Eol}{Similar to Anglachel({/it see}

This blade, made by Eol, was the mate of Anglachel. It was stolen
    from Eol by Maeglin.

\weapon{Glamdring}{elven smiths of
Gondolin}{elven smiths of Gondolin}{broadsword made of a mithril alloy}
{broadsword +3}{holy blade \\
   Orc Slayer (+6, double damage vs. orcs) \\

      flame varies with distance) \\ }{J.R.R.
Tolkien}\index{Glamdring}\index{}\index{``Foe-Hammer''|see{Glamdring}}\index{``Beater''|see{Glamdring}}
Glamdring was Turgon's blade in the First Age. When Gandalf, Thorin,
    and company found the blade in a troll hoard in T.A 2941, Gandalf claimed
    it as his own. He used it throughout the rest of the Third Age, and took
    the blade over sea at the end of the age.

\weapon{Orcrist}
{elven smiths of Gondolin}{elven smiths of Gondolin}{broadsword made of a
mithril alloy}{broadsword +3}{holy blade \\
   Orc Slayer (+6, double damage vs. orcs) \\

      flame varies with distance) \\}{J.R.R. Tolkien}\index{}\index{Orcrist}
\index{``Goblin-Cleaver''|see{Orcrist}}\index{``Biter''|see{Orcrist}}

Orcrist was the mate of Glamdring (my guess is, it was the blade of
    Ecthelion of Gondolin). It was claimed by Thorin Oakenshield from the
    troll hoard where it was found with Glamdring in T.A. 2941. After Thorin
    was killed in the Battle of the Five Armies, the blade was buried with him
    in Erebor.

\weapon{Guthwine}{Unknown}{Unknown}{ Mithril blade with an

    crosspiece.}{Longsword +2}{Orc Slayer (+4, double damage vs. orcs)}{
J.R.R. Tolkien}\index{}\index{Guthwine}\index{``Battle-friend''|see{Guthwine}}

 Guthwine was Eomer's blade, and was used by him throughout the Third
    Age.
\weapon{Herugrim}{Unknown}{Unknown}{forged of fine steel with delicate patterns
and designs wrought
    of gold}{broadsword +3}{Orc Slayer (+5, double damage vs. orcs)}{J.R.R.

 Herugrim was Theoden's blade.

\weapon{Sting}{elven smiths of Beleriand}{elven smiths of Beleriand}{Normal
elven short sword}{short sword +1}{Orc Slayer (+2, double damage vs. orcs)
    - Glows blue in the presence of orcs and trolls}{J.R.R.

Sting was recovered with Glamdring and Orcrist from a troll's lair
    and claimed by Bilbo Baggins, who gave the blade its present name. When
    Bilbo left the Shire, he gave Sting to Frodo who used the blade when
    travelling with the Fellowship of the Ring; Frodo eventually took the blade
   over sea with him.

\weapon{Calninque}{Elven smiths of Gondolin}{Elven smiths of

{J.R.R. Tolkien}\index{}\index{Calninque}\index{``White Cleaving''|see{ Calninque}}

 Calninque was the weapon of Glorfindel, the captain of the guard in
    Gondolin; the blade was lost when Glorfindel perished fighting a Balrog.
\weapon{Aranruth}{Dwarves of Nogrod}{Unknown}
{Broadsword made of a red mithril/titanium alloy}{Broadsword +4}

This was the blade of Elwe; it later became the sword of the kings
    of Numenor.

\weapon{Fuinrauko}{Eol}{Eol}

    edges, hilt-guard, and decor done in meteoric iron}{Two-Handed Sword +5}

 Eol created this blade for himself.

\weapon{Bloodsword}{ Pharan dan Herot}{Torm dal Raidan}
{ The bloodsword is a 3-1/2 foot blade, composed of
     an iron/antimony/mithril alloy. A simple crosspiece holds
     two silver baubles. The pommel is in the shape of a taloned
     hand grasping a translucent orb. The pommel is made of Ebony,
     and wrapped with rhino-hide. The sheath is also made of rhino-hide.}
{+1 longsword}{The sword has the ability to take upon itself a quest. With the
       proper ritual, it can be directed to kill a specific person/race/
        religious member/etc. There are three oddities associated with
        the sword. \\
                1) The silver baubles darken to black in proximity
                to the person/thing it is directed to kill. It lightens
                with increased distance. \\
                2)      The counterweight-orb glows a sickly blood-rust
                color that is more noticeable with every death before it's
                directed death. \\
                3) The final death-blow to it's directed killing comes
                in the form of a phatasmal force that releases the shadows
                of those trapped within the orb. the souls act independantly
                to tear the victim apart, thus replacing their presence in the
                orb with the victim.  only then can they gain release/death.}

This blade was the heirloom of the Royal family of Kumolar (Elven
        Derivants on the Anadien world) It was used to destroy Gath the usurper
       once and for all. since his consumption, the sword has not been wielded
        again. Gath remains imprisoned by the orb. With the fall of the
        Kumolarian empire, the sword was lost. Its' whereabouts are currently
        unknown.
\weapon{Hazakar}{Vailance the Valiant}{the conjurer Uldark}
{ Hazakar is a longsword composed of an adamantite/mithril alloy;
    the flat of the blade is a rich silver color, while the edge has a black
    hue. The crosspiece is encrusted with several sapphires, and the handle is
   wrapped in fine leather.}{+4 longsword}
{Vorpal Blade \\

      special purpose power: +2 to all saves, -1 to each die of damage
        sustained}{Al Mikkola}\index{}\index{Hazakar}\index{``Silver Sword'' |see{Hazakar}}
The half-elf conjurer Uldark enchanted this fine blade for his
    apprentice Aaron Vogelsong (a conjurer/fighter) for use in his quest to
    retrieve a powerful artifact from an evil invoker. Aaron disappeared during
   the quest, and has not been seen since. However, Hazakar was not lost, as
    it magically appeared in the presence of Aaron's younger brother Erik, who
    now wields the blade.
\weapon{Airakkar}{Airestor the Old}{Airestor the Old}
{Airakkar is a longsword made of an adamantite/mithril alloy; the

    handle is wrapped in fine brown leather, and the crosspiece is in the shape
   of two symmetrical lightning bolts. At the end of the handle (in place of
    the pommel) is set a large moonstone; four other gems adorn the crosspiece
    as follows: on one side is a diamond and a sapphire; on the reverse side
    is set a ruby and emerald.}{+4 longsword}
{the four gems set into the crosspiece are actually "buttons." If pressed
      firmly, they will recess slightly into the crosspiece; when pressed, each
     gem has a special function as follows: \\
       diamond: the sword discharges a lightning bolt; the damage inflicted
        by this bolt is 1d6 per two levels of the wielder, up to a maximum of
        10d6. This function is usable once per day; the moonstone in the
        handle will glow softly as long as the bolt has not been used; once
        discharged, the glow will fade until 24 hours have passed when it once
        again will glow. \\
       sapphire: causes the blade to become electrically charged (the wielder
       is insulated from any ill affects); the blade will glow with blue bolts
        similar to what is dicharged from a tesla coil. If the blade scores a
        hit in melee, an additional 1d8 points of damage will be inflicted on
        the target; a save vs. spell reduces this additional damage by one
        half, but targets in metal armor suffer a -4 to this save. The sword
        will remain charged for 1-6 rounds; this function is usable three times
       per day. \\
       ruby: creates an anti-magic shell around the wielder as per the spell.
       This function is usable once per day. \\
       emerald: this allows the wielder to blink; this blinking is as per the
       spell, except the destination of the blink may be chosen (the facing is
        still random).  This function is usable 6 times per day.}
{Al Mikkola}\index{}\index{Airakkar}\index{``Spark Sword'' |see{Airakkar}}
This blade was created in the distant past by the fighter/mage
    Airestor for his son Airak, who wielded the blade for nearly 50 years. The
   sword was lost when Airak was killed while adventuring; its present where-
    abouts are unknown.
