you will be prompted if you want to delete the metric information to start
a new metrics file.

based on the widest numeral.

(32).

generation process calculates each character's right side bearing by
multiplying the width of the character outline by the tracking value, and
then adds the left side bearing, right side bearing, and character outline
width to get the overall width.

Compugraphic fonts can have up to 65,535 characters. When a Compugraphic
font is loaded, its characters will be mapped as closely as possible to
the TypeSmith and Soft-Logik Outline format encoding set. Most have 255
characters or less, so this is not normally a problem.

example of a font with flipped characters.

The IFF RFF font format is not used by other programs. It exists to provide
a comprehensive format that can be opened and saved quickly. Use it while
designing a font. Always save your work in IFF RFF and only export in
PostScript, TrueType or Compugraphic Intellifont when you need to use the
font with a program.

*Important! The IFF RFF saver module only saves characters with standard
character names. If you edit the character names or load a font with non-
standard character names, do not save it in IFF RFF format.

This command opens an ASL file requester to select a drawing file to
import. The file must be in IFF DR2D format.

The drawing will be stored in the clipboard and the mouseform will change
to a picture frame shape to help you position the drawing. Position the
picture frame at the top left corner of the area at which to paste the
drawing, and then click the mouse button.

Drawings may be pasted at a different size than the original by dragging
the mouse while pasting. While you drag the mouse you will see a box which
represents the size of the drawing. If you hold down a Shift key while
sizing the drawing, the original aspect ratio will be maintained.

Pasting does not erase the clipboard's contents. You can paste multiple
copies of the drawing by repeatedly choosing the Paste command.

IFF DR2D supports many more drawing options than those used by fonts. When
you import, a drawing groups will be ungrouped, and line styles, fill
styles and colors will be deleted. Text objects which are not converted to
graphics before saving in IFF DR2D will be ignored when imported.

All paths in an imported drawing will become subpaths of the character,
since fonts do not allow parts of characters to be merged separately.

This allows you to export the current font outline and/or metric in
PostScript Type 1, Type 3 or Compugraphic Intellifont formats. IFF DR2D
drawings may also be exported from the current character window.

Soft-Logik format fonts should be saved with the @{"Save" link SAVE} or @{"Save As" link SAVA} commands.

You must have an active window containing a font outline before exporting
a font outline, and there must be font metric information for that font
before exporting a font metric file. Compugraphic Intellifonts include the
outline and metric in one file so there must be font metric information
before exporting an Intellifont.

It first opens a requester to set Compugraphic options. Generally, these
settings are not used by amiga applications. Change your settings from the
defaults if desired. This requester also allows you to generate the
.metric and .dat files required by Professional Page and Professional
Draw, and to generate automatic font @{"hints" link TypeSmith:Help/English/sub/HINT}. After clicking on Save, an
ASL file requester will open to set the name and path of the file to save.

You must have an active window containing a font outline and metric before
exporting an Intellifont.

Note: Due to a limitation in AmigaDOS, you cannot export Intellifonts
directly to fonts:_bullet_outlines. Export them to another directory and
then use the Intellifont (Workbench 3) or Fountain (Workbench 2) programs
to install them in fonts:_bullet_outlines.
